  • I don't live in Florida, but thought I'd join you here anyway. I'm Sharon Campbell-Zeni on FB. :)
  • Last weeks experiment was chocolate cake. It's based on a Whipped Cream Cake recipe I've had for a few years now. It is my most favorite recipe to use, and since I offered to make a cake for a friend's birthday on Thursday, I want to be able to have cake without it's undesirable effects. It can be made lower carb by…
  • Week 2 Total at 16km, (32km/100km) but 1 had to go for a walk over the weekend to make up for a short one at the beginning of the week. Week 3 Up at 6am, and went for a CLW: Curiosity Led Walk. I'm not sure how far I went, maybe 2km? I'll be making another trip down later to pick up some milk and go to the post office,…
  • Wow. That's pretty gross. :S I got a few "cut out all fat" zombies, who encouraged me to eat lots of grains and use spray oils. Yeah, because I'm that stupid. *rolls eyes*
  • Day 5! 3.2km, 16km/100km. I have reached my 16km goal for this week, 5 days in a row of walking. My right knee is creaking more than it should and I'm exhausted all the time, but I made it through the first week. I'm going to rest for this weekend, and reward myself with some Star Trek.
  • Day 4. Same ****, different day. 3.2km walked, bringing me up to a total of 12.8km/100km. I was so tired yesterday I slept for two or three hours in the afternoon, and got nothing else done. Then I stayed up writing until 11:30pm, and went to bed, and stayed awake at least until 1:30am. Just another day.
  • Day three: 3.2km. 9.6km/100km. I was so exhausted that I slept in, and didn't get out of the house until around 8am, and didn't get back home until 9. Good news is that I appear to have lost another kilo, so now I weigh 140kg. I wish there was a way to wear warm clothing that's still light for weighing. It was 4C this…
  • Just had some fantastic goat for a roast yesterday. Ah, I'd forgotten just how good a nice leg of goat is.
  • Try this philosophy on for size: Make it yourself. If it has an ingredients list, and you DIDN'T make it yourself, don't eat it.
  • I am focusing on a real food, low carb, wheat/gluten free diet, and plenty of exercise. I have so much to lose, but if you are interested in following my trip through this fiasco, I promise things will be Chinese interesting. ;) Follow me if you like.

  • Personally, I'd avoid the grains. They disappear on me too early, and I end up starvin marvin at 10am and looking for a fix. I prefer eggs, or bacon and eggs, or sausages, or something that actually has a dense, energy rich profile. That holds me throughout the day. I'd avoid any product from a major company as well,…
  • That looks awesome! I'll save that recipe, as it'd be a great winter meal.
  • It was interesting. Once again, I failed at making crackling, but the meat was rich and fatty. I think marinated with a garlic and citrus marinade and slow roasted, it'd be fantastic. Serve with potatoes and lots of veggies (okay, maybe not the potatoes, but I was having an indulgence day.) The chicken livers were…
  • This week I hope to experiment with pork belly, chicken livers, and plenty of grass fed beef. Mmm.
  • I am house sitting this week, so I'll be cooking for myself, and brought my low carb/no carb/gluten free stuff with me. Coconut oil, some tallow, some duck fat, coconut flour, almond flour, raw milk, pork belly, chicken livers (oh yes, I went there!), and tons of veggies. I will have plenty of access to grass fed beef,…
  • I can see diet coke being linked to a lot of things. Or rather, the aspartame within the diet sodas.
  • I made Dad's famous jalapeno poppers yesterday. it's not a new recipe, but it's a definite favorite, and usually a treat. I'll post it for ya. :) Dad made these a few years ago, and I've been addicted ever since. My recipe is a variant, of course, but it's still pretty close to the original. Jalapeno peppers (however many…
  • I wondered! lol
  • I know right? Scary as hell! I also read that aspartame was banned by the FDA twice before allowing it? I dunno how much truth there is to it 9seeing as I spotted it on Facebook) but it reminds me that every drug the FDA recalls, the FDA originally approved. Why do we have an organization that is so careless in charge of…
  • 2 eggs, cheddar cheese and strawberries.
  • Another three egg omelet with onion, mushrooms and cheese, and some strawberries.
  • A 30 mile dog walk?! You are WAY hard core! I am working on building strength myself. I used to be quite strong, though I think my lower body strength has taken off while my upper body strength has diminished. *sigh* I'll be looking into a yoga/pilates class today. maybe I'll find some time to add yet another fitness class…
  • ^ What he said. I've recently started reacting to bread and pasta (or maybe I've been reacting to it for a lot longer than I thought? I was always spending time bloated or gassy or with the runs for no particular reason). :( The wheat free and gluten free pasta seems to be okay, but I think I should just ditch the grains…
  • I was just reading about margarine and it's history. Napoleon had a contest during some war: if someone could invent a butter replacement for the soldiers, they'd get a prize. Some guy blended beef tallow with milk to get this... stuff. They used to dye margarine pink or red, because they wanted people to buy butter, not…
  • My mom always had a few boiled eggs around. She put them in our school lunches too. So I also keep a few boiled eggs around. Other things would be grapes, strawberries, carrot sticks, etc. Fruit and veggies that are easy to grab. Or, trail mix would work too. (I don't have kids, so I'm trying to remember what I liked, and…
  • Nope! Not at all. Have fun and post whatever you like. :) I'm pretty sure I've got links here too, I just have to find them. I get a lot of info from friends posting on Facebook (go figure).
  • That "don't use butter on your veggies" idea is complete crap. In fact, kids are the first ones I'd be giving (grass fed) butter to. Eat fat to fuel the body. Kids especially, since they are growing and building brains (your brain is 66% fat) and other important organs. Keeping growing children on a low-fat no-fat diet is…
  • Is that threat? Because I don't much like your tone either.
  • Sigh. Clearly I'm going to have to get technical about how food is grown. Do try to pay attention. You might actually learn something. Conventionally grown foods tend to be an industrialized business. Vast irrigated fields of mono-crops, no biodiversity. What people don't think about, because it's too "icky" or too below…
