  • I had my blood lab work done last week and my A1C was down from 6.9 to 5.7. The doctor asked me if I had done something to cause that. I told him I have lost 55 pounds in the last 7 months. He paused for a longtime and then said he was impressed. My cousin took a picture of me when I wasn't aware and I look like crap. My…
  • My favorite leather belt is out of holes. I will have to punch a few more.
  • I started my weight loss journey exactly 4 months ago today. In that time I have lost 40 pounds but the NSV is I was wearing a snug size 44 jeans. Today I bought new jeans and they are a comfortable size 38. 4 months, 40 pounds and 6 inches smaller waist. I'm looking forward to the next 4 months and beyond.
  • My wife has a Dr. appointment next Friday and she's going to weigh there then come straight home and weigh again. Before I retired I worked in several hospitals and I even calibrated the scales. The are usually pretty accurate however but they can also be way off. If the person leans back while they are weighing they can…
  • I bought a new bathroom scale because the old one was physically broken. The new scale shows I am 9 pounds heavier than the old one. So what could possibly be a NSV? I just said OK. I did not let that kill my motivation. I figure the scale was 9 pounds light when I started so I have still lost 30 pounds.
  • I went down 2 holes on my belt.
  • Not to burst your bubble but it doesn't necessarily mean you're in good condition. I have a heart rate under 50 and I an over weight and out of shape old man. Bradycardia is just another condition that happens as people age. You may actually be in great condition but maybe there's another reason.
  • Yesterday I went to my Aunt's 81st birthday party. There was a lot of food. Croissant deli sandwiches, chips, cake and I made a gallon of banana ice cream. I also gave her a big jar of fudge my wife and I made. My NSV. I only ate the turkey meat off one sandwich. In past times I would have over eat all the high Cal, high…
  • Peanut M&Ms are my favorite candy. Unlike you I would have eaten way way more the 5 or 8. If I ate even one the battle would be hard. Funny when I mention diet to my wife she starts serving steamed cauliflower and broccoli.
  • You did it once you can do it again. I'm on my second go round and I will get rid of the weight I gained back then some.
  • I'm in the same boat. I lost 80 pounds then back slid and gained 30 of it back. I restarted 5 days ago and it's going great so far.
  • I agree. The bar code scanners is what set MFP apart from all the others. It's almost enough to make me look for another app/web site. I am not paying for premium just for one function.
  • After losing 70 pounds last year I got lazy. I didn't track my food, ate things I knew I shouldn't and just fell completely off track and gained back 20 pounds in the last 6 months. So my NSV is getting back after it. No more eating things I know I shouldn't eat, tracking my food, exercising and just getting off my butt…
  • There are some unbelievable transformation here. Great work everyone.
  • It's strange but until I read your post I hadn't thought about my knees not hurting. They don't hurt or keep me from sleeping. I guess that 70 extra pounds they used to carry was the problem. Looking forward to how I will feel after more weight loss. Thank you for bringing it to my attention.
  • Now everyone that reads this is going to try to fold their hands behind their back. I never even thought about something like that. Full disclosure, I can't do it.
  • My wedding band fits for the first time in over 45 years. I stopped wearing it because I was working on high voltage equipment, then I got too fat to wear it so it just sat in the box. My wife an I are both happy about it fitting. I can also wrap my fingers around my wrist, with room to spare.
  • It's amazing how much weight loss takes the years off peoples faces. You both look years younger. Good work. keep it up.
  • Went to a local burger place and sat in a booth instead of a table. Before I didn't fit in their booths. Now I have room to spare. Also I didn't eat much and stayed way below my target for lunch.
  • That must must be a nice sundress. :)
  • There is something about wearing a size you never imagined you would be able to wear again. It makes you feel so good and proud of what you have accomplished. I was wearing XXXL shirts and now it XL or even a L. Makes me smile just thinking about it. Keep up the good work, it is worth the effort.
  • I had to retire my biggest pair of jeans. They are so big they gathered up around my waist under my belt and it's uncomfortable and they look really bad. So out with the 47 and in with the 38. Yesterday was week 5 day 3 of C25K and I actually ran for the full 20 minutes nonstop. Not fast but I was running. I haven't ran…
  • My Grandmother could stand with her feet together, knees locked and put both of her palms flat on the floor when she was 90. She was over weight to boot. I doubt I will ever be able to do that.
  • Speaking as a parent, with grown children, any day you get to see your children is a special day. I haven't seen mine since Christmas.
  • I would bet that 25 pounds lost shows somewhere. You may not notice but the weight is gone so you almost have to be thinner someplace. That's why a lot of people use a tape measure. I really noticed when I put on a pair of smaller jeans and they fit with room to spare.
  • You might want to look up bradycardia heart rate.
  • Since I have lost weight and started to walk/run on the treadmill I have way more energy and ambition. I do a lot of cleaning now. I actually enjoy it. Go figure. Sweeping, mopping, washing dishes, and cooking are enjoyable. I never did like doing laundry and I still hate to fold cloths. My wife doesn't seem to mind me…
