  • Great video. I'm a figure skater too. I started when I was about 11 but a badly fractured knee took me out of the game when I was 14. I recently took it up again about a year ago at 39 yrs of age and am currently in freestyle 2..working on 1/2 toe walleys.. I skate with some women nearly twice my age. I can only hope that…
  • I just went on a cruise 3 weeks ago. I gained 4 pounds and have already worked off 3. I'm sure some of it was water weight as someone mentioned the food was probably high in sodium. I ate what I wanted to satisfaction but didnt stuff my face. You're on vacation. Have fun. You can work off any gained weight when you get…
  • This made me laugh so hard I almost did blow my colon

  • I follow this policy. As well as "out with the old, in with the new". For instance, If I buy a new pair of jeans and I have a closet full of older ones then at least one or two pairs of the older ones get donated.
  • First of all OP, congrats on 7 months!! 8 months sober here. I think it's fairly common for recovering alcoholics, drug addicts, and smokers to gain a lttile weight in early recovery. For some its the sweet cravings. For others its just the act of putting food in our mouths to satisfy cravings. I lost 10 pounds when I…
  • I usually finish my 5K's in 40-45 min and there are still always plenty of people finishing behind me. Nothing to be nervous about. You'll do fine. Just have a great time! Run Girl Run! :)
  • Got a bad leg cramp during a yoga pose, fell back and hit my head pretty hard. The worst part was that everyone in the class (including the instructor) just laughed instead of checking to see that I was okay considering I smashed my head pretty hard :( Another time, Butt sweat through some light gray workout pants looked…
  • I have a desk job and I make time for exercise. I go to the gym in the morning before work 3-4 days a week and most days I try to take a walk on my lunchbreak. Just try to fit in more activity somehow.
  • Lady on treadmill in high heels.
  • Yes, have a treat! My birthday was on MOnday and I treated myself to TWO slices of chocolate cake and didnt worry about it one bit. I just got back on track the next day and added a lil more exercise. Happy birthday!
  • Got a bad leg cramp during a standing pose in a Yoga class and fell back on my bum and hit my head on the mirror. Most people laughed (nice!) but when I couldn't get up due to said leg still cramping some people including the instructor rushed to my aid. I really couldnt believe that people outright laughed without caring…
  • Hockey dads that encourage their hockey kids to skate like bats out of hell, cutting off everyone at break neck speeds and all the while cheering and laughing and not having a care in the world about the other people on the rink. Hipster teenagers just hanging out in the middle of the rink. Novice skater that takes out…
  • I skated as a kid. I got up to Freestyle 1 then I stopped skating once I hit high school. Now, at age 38, I am getting back into it again. I signed up for adult lessons. Started this past weekend and i LOVED it. I went out and bought a new pair of skates. Such a fin exercise. I feel like I'm flying when I'm out there :D
  • I purposely set my alarm about 20-30 mins earliar than I plan on getting up so I still have the option to hit snooze a few times. I set my workout clothes out the night before. If its still dark outside I turn on as many lights in the house as I can cause that helps me snap out of sleep mode. I also try to have my…
  • As some others have suggested, if your gym offers a one time orientation or PT session i would take advantage of that and ask as many questions as possible. You could also ask one of the employees at the front desk (whom are usually socializing or checking their facebook) to give you a quick tour of the facilities and run…
  • Oh gosh, these are all good stories. Some of these have been mentioned but they are just so funny..and annoying: *girl wearing high heels on the treadmill. yes, i have seen this. wtf? *the old guy that wears way too big shorts while doing situps in front of the cardio machines therefore flashing everyone his junk *the guy…

  • I am also a child of the 70's. My parents were into Yoga, they didnt allow myself or my sister to eat any sugar or junk food, no candy, no soda, no punch/juices, potato chips etc. Not even any gum (which resulted in my getting caught for stealing Hubba Bubba from the local grocery store. hehe). My mom cooked pretty healthy…
  • depends. if I'm going home right after then no, cause I'd rather shower at home. But if I went to the gym on my lunch break or before work, then yes cause I dont want to go to work smelling funky.
  • Ouch! I broke the metatarsal in both of my feet a few years ago. Years of ballet dancing put so much stress on my feet that one day they just gave out on me. I was not in a cast but walking boots for what seems like forever and crutches for support and to limit putting too much weight on my feet . Took a very long time to…
  • Active.com as listings of marathons, etc. Nationwide. I am running my 2nd 5K this weekend. Good luck!
  • Hahaha. I do that too! I basically do yoga and pilates to stretch them out.
  • Because it makes me feel strong and gives me energy throughout the day, training for a few 5K's and still working up to the 3+ miles, wanted to try out my new running shoes. i love my early morning runs cause its nice and quiet out, the air is fresh and crisp, and the sun rising is beautiful.
  • I just signed up for my first 5K today as well. Excited but nervous cause I only have a month and I dont usually run. I do work-out for at least 45 mins 5-6 days a week. I'm fit, but running is new to me. Gonna start out with the run/walk training and go from there. Hoping this will turn into a new hobby for me.
  • Agreed! Mine were so painful, i could hardly talk let alone swallow anything for days..but I did end up losing weight :)
  • I agree! I allow myself 1-2 days per week where I'm a little more flexible with my calories, carbs, etc but still try to not go too far over my maintenance calories. And Ive steadily been losing about 1 pound a week. If this is going to be a sustainable lifestyle change we have to allow ourselves our favorite foods from…
  • I just bought it today. Ive been wanting to try a program like P90x or Insanity but honestly didnt want to to shell out the cash. This looks similar and only $20 :D
  • I didnt realize I had an ED until I saw it profiled on a reality/docu-show. I used to load up on diuretics, laxitives, any type of cleansing powders/teas, fiber supplement to basically flush whatever I ate out of my system immediately. I guess this is considered a form of bulimia. Of course when I stopped taking these…
  • My work has a gym so I go everyday for about an hour. Usually cardio but sometimes take the classes offered too. And I always shower. Nothing fancy..just hop in and rinse off the sweat. I have pretty flexible hours and I'm a manager so no one really takes notice of my comings and goings from the office. I love the energy…
  • I was diagnosed with Diverticulitis about 10 years ago. After what i thought was the most excruciating stomach ache ever sent me to the emergency room. This turned out to be a flare-up. Doctor's also told me to avoid seeds, nuts, popcorn, etc but I have been eating all of these things for years and havent had any issues. I…
  • As someone else said above, I've been buying Ralphs/Kroger brand carbmaster yogurt. Only about 3-4 grams of sugar. And theyre yummy :D
