So may be a silly question-but I see so many postings about 5Ks and other running/walking marathons for different charities/benefits and whatnot and I am wondering if anyone could tell me HOW you find out about these? I live in WI and I want to do one eventually but don't know how to go about finding one...

If you go google and enter 'Wisconsin road races 2011' it will list the running races for the year in your state and just change to 2012 for next year

Contact the charity you are interested in helping. I did one for Team Diabetes here in Winnipeg. I know there are several others out there Team in Training, Joints in Motion, to name a few.

Someone at the Charity themselves would be able to direct you.

Check out the websites of the marathons you want to do. They usually have a list charities that you can run for
  • Runnersworld (mentioned above), will also help you in getting started researching different kinds of training and diets that you can research without spending money on subscriptions or books...

Active.com as listings of marathons, etc. Nationwide. I am running my 2nd 5K this weekend. Good luck!
