  • I think age is important. too! My doctor doesn't really want me going below 170 (5'10", male, 58, 165.8). My BMI is 23.8. My doctor says us "older" people need to have a little fat so we can fight off infection (and wind up losing weight) if that happens.
  • 5'10", male, 58 years old, 165 lbs. I average around 15,000 steps a day and eat around 2,500 calories. I'm still fairly new to maintenance (been maintaining since January 2016) so I don't have this down yet.
  • I went to see the doctor yesterday and she had no recommendations. She said everything was good. My weight was 166 (at the lower end of my 166-174) and my blood pressure was 120/70. Couldn't be happier.
  • So, I have been in maintenance for 3 months. I still feel guilty, so I know what the OP says. I've actually lost 5 more lbs since then. I have stepped up my exercise, so that might explain some of it. Still, MFP is giving me 2,480 calories just to maintain before exercise. On top of that, my exercise from (cardio from…
  • Congrats! I've been in maintenance for 3 months (sort of). My doctor has told me not to lose anymore. My goal range 166 - 174 (+/- 4 of 170). Today I weighed in at 165.2, so I don't really have it down yet.

  • Lost 80+ lbs. in 10 months (250 -> 165.8) as of last week. Really only been in maintenance since January 2016 and still working on the maintenance stability. My doctor has said OK to going down to 170, so my goal range is 166 - 174. That keeps me in the top of the healthy BMI range.

  • Simple answer is to stop eating the "junk food". Actually, if you follow MFP's way of losing weight, you just need to reduce your Calories In to be less than your that Calories out. That "usually" means you start substituting "other foods" and eliminating "junk food" where you can. Probably, the first thing you do,…

  • Look at as a marathon. You are in it forever. It really is a lifestyle change. Initially staying motivated is because you are trying to accomplish something. But if you reach your goal, you still need to keep going.
  • First of all, I want to send you congratulations like the others. I'm one those that lost the weight and regained it (have lost it again). I'm male, 5'10", 58 years old, and weighed 250 in March 2010. I got down to 157 (actually more than I wanted) by January 2011. A job relocation and life in general got in the way and…

  • I mainly walk. Currently, I'm getting > 20K steps in a day. I do walk really fast though, I lost about 80 lbs. in 10 months and just started maintenance in February 2016. Still working on that. As everybody has stated, it's about diet though. I've been tracking everything on MFP, so that has been a godsend. Also, a food…
  • Sorry about not replying sooner. It has taken hard work to get the steps in. Also, I have a FitBit Charge HR that tracks the step count. First of all, I live alone and don't have anyone else there except 3 cats. They don't take much time. Next, I get up at 3 AM in the morning and walk about 10,000 - 11,000 steps in early.…
