  • @midwesterner85 how is the symlin going? I have an endo appointment next week and wanted to discuss that or victoza with her. I know you that victoza was not approved for type 1's but they had such good results with obese t1's taking it so im going to throw it out there to her.
  • I am dealing with this myself. My hair gets crazy sweaty when I workout, and I workout 5 nights a week. I bought sample size bottles of shampoo and conditioner over the weekend at Ulta. They are made by Pureology and called Reviving Red. Its pretty pricey at $30 which is why I bought the sample to try first. I am hoping…
  • I read that one when I first got my pump. That is another good book to reference. There is a group on here for Type 1's if you want to check it out. I've found a lot of good information in that group.
  • Hello! I am also a T1D and am on the medtronic pump and cgm. I can tell you that the pump was a total game changer for me. I've been diabetic since I was 10 years old (34 now) and have been pumping for about a year now. I wish I wouldn't have waited so long. As far as weight loss, I have around 70-80 lbs left to lose and…
  • I am 34 years old and was diagnosed with T1D at the age of 10. I am on a pump as well. I have done the typical 45-60 grams of carbs at each meal and chased it with large doses of insulin. Due to this living this lifestyle for 24 years now, I am approx 100 lbs overweight and am now dealing with the beginning stages of…
  • I have never heard of that either...but i would have a hard time doing a straight shot of any of those without something sweet to chase it with which would defeat the purpose :) Let me know if you try it! Im intrigued! Im also jealous of your group! I would love to be able to meet up with other type 1's
  • i've been researching the crap out of this book lately and I finally broke down and ordered it. I am not very far along yet but I have to say, I am really taking what Dr. Bernstein says to heart. The man is 80 years old and in incredible health. He was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 12 back before people even had…
  • a handful of nuts string cheese cottage cheese sugar free jello pickles
  • I am also a user of glucose tabs- I used to binge to treat a low, if i'd go low in the middle of the night I would wake up remembering eating peanut butter by the spoonfuls which easliy racked up the calories. Now I keep glucose tabs everywhere, my purse, my nightstand, my gym bag, my desk at work- 3 or 4 tabs is 45-60…
  • This has started happening to me too. I am a pumper and I used to have to suspend my pump while exercising or else I would go low during my exercise. I workout at a gym 4 days a week where I do mostly cardio and some weights and I do 2 back to back classes on Tuesday, one is a cardio dance class and the other is P90x. I've…
  • @RGolmant that sounds awesome! I am going to send you a request!
  • Hello! I am also a T1D, i'm 34 and was diagnosed at the age of 10. I've been in a weight loss battle my entire life. I was doing really well on here and then stopped seeing results and got discouraged. From February until now, I didn't lose any weight with sticking to 1500 cal a day and going to the gym 5x per week so I…
  • @kasaflyer welcome!! I'm happy to hear that you are having some success! You'll get a lot of good information from this group!
  • You look awesome!!! Very motivating!
  • Hello- I am a type 1 pumper! I'm down around 35 lbs since September. I was down 40 but got frustrated, started eating and gained some back. Its a really slow process. @geordielass40 I am extremely impressed 8 stone is a huge success! I would love to know more specifics of your diet and exercise regime. I have been…
  • I'm in to see other responses. I currently have a polar Ft7 sitting in my amazon shopping cart. I currently have a jawbone up24 but since it counts steps and I workout in a gym I don't feel that it is the best tracker for me. I want to see how many calories that I burn when I lift and when I do my group exercise classes.
  • this week I am eating a salad made of spring mix, 3 oz salmon, feta cheese, dried cranberries, walnuts and balsalmic dressing. I have the feta, cranberry and walnuts in a baggy, the spring mix in a container and the salmon in a container. I mix it all together at lunch time so that it doesn't get soggy.
  • Update- I went back to my specialist. He ran tests for approximately 3 hours and said that everything looks good. The damage that the new eye dr saw was the damage that I was already being treated for. He said that everything is improving and to keep up the good work! It was very encouraging, after the last appointment I…
  • @okulyd I'm excited to hear what your dr has to say. Keep me updated. I'll have to check into the leptin.
  • @tycoon460 Thanks for sharing your story! I do definitely feel better and I actually jogged my first 5k over the weekend which I never would have been able to do before.
  • Also, its not like i'm close to my goal.....to be at a healthy weight I still have around 80-90 lbs to lose.
  • I've lost around 30 lbs........that was all between September-January. I haven't lost anything since February. I will lose a few, gain a few.
  • Love Game- Lady Gaga
  • @okulyd That is encouraging! Thanks!! It is awesome that you were able get rid of the retinopathy! I hope to have the same results!
  • @tmlandgraf , I was diagnosed at the age of 10. @midwesterner , that sounds really scary. We all have our things that we have to deal with I guess. Its hard not to let it all get you down sometimes. I go to my specialist on the 17th of this month. I am really anxious for the results
  • I am also a T1 and just got tested for PCOS. I am on the medtronic pump and cgm, feel free to add me
  • Congrats on the A1C! It is a daily struggle I am also type 1 and diagnosed at age 10. I am now 34! We have similar stories, I had plenty of A1Cs in the 10, 11, 12+ range. I went to my endo on Tuesday and I am a 7.2. I started pumping in November of 2013 and it was the best decision that i have ever made. I just recently…
  • Thank you! @BrownTown14 do you have any literature that you recommend? There is so much information. @gothchiq I have heard of people using cumin. I think its worth a shot. Looks like i'm going to be putting together a care package to send out to my mom
  • But sorry, to answer your question I normally have either a protein shake or 1 egg, 2 egg whites and some sort of fruit. For lunch I grill or bake a big batch of chicken on Sunday and split it up. I usually have either chicken with some sort of vegtables or I make a chicken salad. Dinner is meat and a vegtable or some…
  • I am a type 1 diabetic on a pump. Personally I shoot for under 100 g carbs per day and over 100 g of protein. I find when I lower my carbs below that I run low a lot and have to constantly feed my lows which defeats the purpose. But everyone is different, when I was in my 20's I could live off of anything that said 100…
