  • I dont know about helping sleep- I sleep like a rock no matter what- but it is Delicious! I love the way it smells, its one of my favorites.
  • go to one of the running stores where they videotape your feet on a treadmill- they can give some helpful advice. The flipside of that coin is higher prices, and the possibility of a salesperson pushing you into a more expensive shoe just for the hell of it.
  • If you emerge from it knowing yourself better, I'd call it a win. Just be sure to apply that knowledge to make yourself better- you've tried it and you know it doesn't feel good, so jump back into healthy changes. I really have found the most success with little changes adding up over time instead of going super-strict…
  • Congratulations Janean! It's really really tough to behave when the temptation is in your face, complete with smell, all night! Now you've proven its possible, so I know you can keep it up!
  • ACK! Cookie attack day at work. I was feeling so good about getting a project done, had one, and it was just so tasty it led to three more. :( I'm done, I think. Be strong.
  • How long have you been steadily doing the right things? I wouldn't assume any changes I see are real trends caused by what I'm doing right or wrong until they've been predictable for two weeks, and weight change of at least 5 lb. I can gain or lose 3 lbs in a day EASY from water, salt, exercise, carbs, that TOM, whatever.…
  • You can usually find different values for differently prepared foods either on MFP or nutritiondata.self.com, like cooked vs raw broccoli will have different nutritional information per gram, weigh whichever stage is convenient and look up the type that matches. If its frozen in a package, weigh it frozen and use the…
  • Last week mine included 'no fast food' so this week a good one might be 'no sweets' lol I had a goal to run in the morning since I knew I wouldn't have time that day after work. Logging accurately was a goal too since I've been getting sloppy. And this week mine is somewhat unrelated to food- to stop playing with my hair…
  • How's everybody doing? I've really enjoyed the sweet-free challenge, it helped me stick to my guns and I have a much healthier relationship with sweets and temptation now ;) I've been soo busy at work I haven't had time to post, but I promise I'm committed. I've found there's a really strong relationship between being…
  • I'm so thankful this week's goal was no sugar- having made that decision ahead of time and being accountable here are the only things which kept me from it this weekend! There were so many opportunities, and I made it! Last night I even got so far as to pick up a chocolate, think about it, stare at it, and put it back.…
  • The week's challenge is coming at a great time for me. A week ago I was totally on track and sugar didn't have much of a hold on me. I could have just a little bit and move on with my life. Unfortunately, Thanksgiving re-introduced me to sugar and I haven't resisted temptation well. I just caved to office treats- fresh…
  • Muhahahaha first one accomplished. Just takes a little push sometimes.
  • I'm a new arrival. My self-control goal for today is to get up *right now* from my desk and go tackle that project that scares me. Then, on my 4 hour drive home for the holidays I will no stop for fast food, I will buy something real from a grocery store.
  • Hey! I'm Alexandra. I'm 22 and on an internship for mechanical engineering. I'll go back to school in January. I love this challenge! I really do have a hard time fighting the 'its okay, you can have another' voice. I also have self control issues that affect other facets of my life, so I'll be looking to improve those…
  • About the holidays- thats a really complicated question which boils down in the end to self control, motivation and determination. If you want to get healthier, make healthier choices. Talk about trial by fire, though, because most of us are at our weakest when surrounded by family and tempting food. The best way to start…
  • I like the approach!
  • That sounds great! I love writing down my accomplishments every now and then in my exercise notes so I can look back and see how much I've improved.
  • I used savings from working in Highschool, worked as an RA when taking classes to cover room/board/fees, worked Co-opping full time six months at a time (not taking classes) to save up money for tuition to go back to school. Had to borrow about 6k from family/friends who where in a position to loan me money without…
  • oh and it made me gain weight which is why I'm here. :( That's common with most of those drugs though.
  • I was on Cymbalta for depression/anxiety for 1.5 years, and have just gotten off a few months ago. It was the answer for me. After the ramp-up I only had side effects when I missed or was late on a dose- little vertigo, sweats, distracted/craving/fidgety feeling. always got better pretty quickly after I took the dose.…
  • I'd suggest a small change, like adding ~200 net calories, and seeing what the effects on your energy/mood/scale are in two weeks. Then adjust again. It's a slow process, but the only one which will really find the sweet spot (which will move as you lose weight or get fitter). MFP's calorie goals are a good /starting/…
  • Huh. I don't know anything about them, but that does not sound normal at all. If you are buying the replacement parts new from the company which makes the xtrainers, you should definitely call them and complain about quality. Ask for reimbursement and free replacement parts, see if you get 'em. Maybe if you push hard…
  • Get moving, right now. Go for a walk. Call someone you haven't talked to in a while. Do something with your hands. All we can ever do is distract ourselves until we're past our moment of temptation ;)
  • Amen, sister. I wish you the best. I let Halloween get away from me, and I'm working on squashing my renewed sweet tooth too. These things happened. You have become aware of them, and can do better starting now. Go get 'em! And go throw out whatever you have- now. Or give it to someone. I've got m&ms hiding in my desk,…

  • wow, thanks for accumulating all that information!
  • Hooooly cow! You did some amazing work!
  • Wow! Thats spectacular! Revel in that feeling, and then keep going!
  • I purchased another brand HRM and it was hit or miss on picking up an accurate beat. I returned it and got a Polar FT4 for 70.00 on amazon, and I love it. consistent, easy to use, isn't messed up by other electronic signals or HRMs. It even works (mostly) while swimming in chlorine (but not in saltwater).
  • I haven't called it a 'soup diet' but I use soup often to fill up on a low-calorie healthy food. I make a variety of vegetable soups and eat a small serving before meals pretty often. Plus, they're really easy to make in huge batches and freeze for lunches/emergency snacks. My normal recipe is dead simple and cheap. Sautee…
