  • Mine has never been accurate either. As 20years says, it depends on your deficit differences and can waver violently about 4kgs either way on a day to day basis. I mostly ignore it and am just happy as long as the weight keeps coming off.
  • I agree with Nerdie. Christmas Day is 100% a free day for me to enjoy. Leading up to it I'm logging everything though, eggnog, mince tarts, everything. But Christmas isn't for calorie counting, it's for enjoying :)
  • +1 to mahatoor's post. I was in a similar situation to you and got stuck in a 'what's the point'? mindset when trying to start again. So I forced myself through the first week, then the second, about halfway through the third it became a habit again. Now I'm motivated just because it's my lifestyle again. Best of luck to…
  • Okay I think I should address a few things quickly and then I will leave this thread alone. I appreciate all the supportive posts, but the negative ones are disheartening. 1. I am in no way bitter that my girlfriend is losing weight when I am not. I am proud of her for getting healthy, just as she is proud of me. I had a…
  • Yeah Peachy you're right. It's just frustrating in the short term when we're both meant to be losing weight together, you know?
  • Oh I missed your question. Yes, it has been very successful for me. I dropped thirty kilos on it in about seven months to start with. I put the weight back on, not because the diet isn't sustainable, but because I got into a job I hated and fell into old habits of rewarding myself with food. Back on 1200 again (started 17…
  • I actually find it quite easy, honestly. My diary isn't open so I will give you some idea of what I eat each day: Breakfast Oats with honey and milk for breakfast OR Scrambled eggs / Omelette crammed full of veg (No cheese for me) Lunch A wrap of any kind. I used to have sandwiches but the Brumbies near me shut down and I…
  • Just for today I: 1. Won't beat myself up for maintaining, not losing. 2. Won't feel too guilty to enjoy my small pizza at a once-a-year overnight event that I couldn't even attend last year. 3. Will walk my dog for at least half an hour even though I'm busy.
  • Definitely get rid of them. I kept my size eighteen jeans when I went down to a 16. One day put them on because they were ' a bit more comfy' than my 16s. Now I'm a size 18 again. I wouldn't have gotten back here if I hadn't been so foolish.
  • I cut out alcohol almost entirely, purely because it is empty calories. I used to drink probably three or four times a week when I was writing. Now it's only special occasions / with friends / if I happen to have enough for a beer left in my calories at the end of the day. Cheese I limit but still have. I find cutting a…
  • My only suggestion is to take a deep breath, know you have done it before, know it is hard but you can do it again. You are still much lighter than you started so this time you don't have as much to lose. This time, when you lose your 80 pounds, you will be much more aware of what you are eating, making certain on to slip…
  • I'm not in the same situation as you but I just wanted to encourage you as I saw no one had replied yet. Being healthy for yourself and readying yourself for a long happy life with your kids. I hope you find some people in a similar situation to offer you support and best of luck.
  • I steadily avoided the scale after I lost 30+ kgs and then started to put it back on. Living by the 'if I can't see a number, it doesn't exist' mantra. Then I went to give blood and didn't realise they required you to weigh yourself. When they told me to I briefly consider leaving instead, then told myself off for being so…
  • See I'm the opposite. I would be less inclined to put bad food in if other people COULD see my diary, for fear of what they would think. At least at the end of the day now I can see if I've gone 600 calories over because of a stupid decision and I'll think twice before doing it again.
  • Give yourself a break. Take a day when you ignore the calories. You might gain a little but not so much that it's unmanageable. It was my partner's birthday this week so we ate cake, had outside foods and generally enjoyed ourselves for the weekend. I put on .07kgs and have already lost .04 again. You don't need to be so…
  • This was years and years back. I think it's actually just a rude saying which has been going around for ages (though I don't know how old Little Britain is?) The worst thing is, when someone you admire says that to you, it just never goes away and I know for a fact he has no memory of it.
  • Beyond the rude comment - who the hell gave him permission to lift your clothing? That sounds like a harassment suit right there.
  • Working night-shifts at a job where we were treated poorly. It wasn't so much the night-shift issue as having dinner while at work (same as having lunch). I was so miserable I would always eat whatever I wanted because 'I deserved it' including chocolate and/or beer when I got home. I was also usually so tired or so busy…
  • My brother, when I was in primary school, told me "you have more rolls than a bakery." Knowing him he probably heard it and thought it was funny and said it without really thinking of the consequences but for a kid always teased about her weight, it's always stuck with me since he was someone I admired more than anyone.
  • As far as interpreting your response as sarcastic - I think it was due to the number of "..." which can come off as sarcastic sometimes. Moving on from that: I used to have the exact same problem as you. Two major things helped. 1. Plan out all your major meals for the day and log in advance so you can clearly see how many…
  • Stomach, thighs and my face bloats like a balloon! Thankfully my face tends to go down pretty fast when I lose weight too.
  • I also have SVT and I know how frustrating and scary it can be. I have medication (Tambocor) which worked a treat if I took it before exercise. I can understand your frustration with side-effects but have you tried going on different meds? Often it just takes a while to find the right one for you. It's so necessary and the…
  • I love cheese too. I recently started buying Bega Stringers again. I haven't had them since I was a kid! Only 59calories or so per stringer plus it keeps me busy while I eat it. However I have to prevent myself from buying Blue Vein or my self-control flies merrily out the window and I will happily eat the entire block. I…
  • I have had a similar experience. I used to wait until my sig other went to work at night and I'd order a pizza or a milkshake etc. I find there is one sure way to help with this but it does take a lot of willpower. You know he loves you no matter what, so tell him that this is what you have been doing. Instead of being…
  • Keep your head up. I plateaud through all of September, even put a bit of weight on! Halfway into October and I've suddenly started losing weight again and am steadily heading back to my goal. Sometimes it was caused by me getting slack with my eating but mostly I think my body was just taking a break. Now I'm losing again…
  • I don't have any pictures and I'm probably a bad example but I have lost 67pounds in eight months eating healthy, keeping an eye on my weight (wii fit lets me keep a graph of it over time) and doing basic/no exercise. I walk when I could drive, such as down to the shops, and I have a rower at home which I use but to be…
  • I am 5"2 - 5"3. I started out at 104kgs (embarrassing!). Without going on any kind of radical diet I started restricting my calorie intake to 1200. I bought a wii fit which I used constantly for exercise for months and, once I got sick of that, used to keep good track of my weight. It's great to see that little graph going…
  • I have several rewards when I hit my final goal. > When I can finally scrape together the money I want to buy some runners and start doing C25K as part of my weight loss exercises. At the end of this I want to do a 5k run for charity. > A whole new wardrobe. I've never been thin, I've never enjoyed shopping, but I'm going…
  • I bought the wii fit as my birthday present last year and have used it together with decent eating to lose my weight. I really haven't done anything on top of it and spent most of my time stepping/cycling/boxing. Hula Hooping is probably excellent but it hurts my knees too much. JUST by using the wii fit and not eating…
