Have not lost any weight for 6 weeks!

Okay, just a question/observation~if you have something to add feel free!

I started in February of 2012 and made amazing progress for many weeks. About 12 weeks ago, I started eating back exercise calories, but many of these in the form of sugars (bad move, I guess) and now I have platueaed (no loss for 6 weeks). I am not upset by this, just facing the realization that I need to get back on track and eat more healthfully. I also have had to slow my exercise somewhat as I developed sciatica.

However, I am not discouraged, in fact, this has shown me that maintenance will not be real difficult once my journey to onederland is over!

I am hoping also, by not losing vast amounts in a drastically short time, that my skin will find it's way to "bounce back" a bit easier.

Those of you who have lost weight more slowly, what have you found to be the case? Also, remember, I am 52 (soon to be 53!) years old, so elasticity may be beyond the scope of reality! LOL

Comments, suggestions, etc?... Please feel free to check out my diary, as I know I need help in this area!

BTW, just want to share KUDOS to all who have reached goals or are in the process~~You are an amazing group of highly motivated souls and I have to say, YOU INSPIRE ME and I ADMIRE ALL OF YOU!!

A plateau can have many reasons. Water retention, body recomposition etc.

You should use check more indicators than just a scale: tape measure, bodyfat, lean body mass etc.

I found out that during my last plateau my bodyfat actually dropped but I gained muscle mass. So I didn't see any change on the scale for 2-3 weeks.

    EDIT:
Don't get discouraged! You'll meet your goal. Any plateau eventually gives in if you stay steady. Good luck!

Click the search button here in the message boards and type plateau. There is already a lot of great information out there.

While age certainly plays an important role in your skin's abilitly to 'bounce back', the amount of weight that you need to lose, and the length of time that you've been at that weight play a bigger one. Yes, it's better to lose it slowly, but after a certain point, no amount of 'bounce' is going to fix it. In my case, I need/want to lose ultimately around 150 lbs. After losing over 120, my skin is just too big to regain it's shape. I literally have flat skin hanging. If you have less to lose, and are younger, you'll have better results. For someone like me, my Dr. and Nutritionist have said that surgery to actually remove all the excess skin is necessary.

Oh, and don't spend a lot of money on creams and things, they really don't help :(

    Good luck!

Keep your head up. I plateaud through all of September, even put a bit of weight on! Halfway into October and I've suddenly started losing weight again and am steadily heading back to my goal. Sometimes it was caused by me getting slack with my eating but mostly I think my body was just taking a break. Now I'm losing again I'm making a real effort to mix up my exercise. For example, I just bought a boxing bag, even though I have never boxed before. it's great dancing around and punching it.

Have some fun with it. No one says losing weight has to be a chore.

I eat 10% below my TDEE because I'm so close to goal and I'm loosing just fine. You seem to have way more of a defict than that.
I've heard on hear from some of the more experienced weight loosers on here that the closer you are to goal the closer you eat to your maintanence calories so that's what I'm doing. Maybe try it too.
