  • I went out with friends for dinner and had starter, main and dessert for less than 800 calories. This was rather than consider the night as a cheat and helping myself to anything on the menu. A big one for me. The other was having a very valid reason not to exercise but choosing to anyway. I am not someone who likes…
  • Snap! My boss asked me if I had lost weight (only 10lbs so far) but the best NSV for me was watching my hubby put on jeans that are a size smaller and they are roomy. He's doing what he can to support me, but I think he's secretly chuffed with himself as in the 10 years we've been together, he's always been in the same…
  • Essex/Hertfordshire boarder but work in London (and originally from Australia)
  • My goal is to be toned. I have a weight in mind, but honestly it's flexible. What I really want to to be toned and happy with what I see in teh mirror.
  • I'm 5"9, 13 Stone size 14 and aim to be in the high 10st bracket or low 11st. Mostly I just want to tone up and lose a bit of the wobble, then i'll be happy (oh and i'm 33)
  • Talking about this to a girl at work funnily enough. My view is, unless your a dietician, you're not going to get it 100% correct all the time. It is basically saying what we all know, eat everything in moderation and exercise and you're leading a healthy lifestyle. (of course, that's my view and I could be VERY wrong!)
  • I love MFP. I lost weight a while ago on Weight Watchers but got bored and put it all back on (then some). So I'm back to basics with MFP and lost some weight and have started exercising with cardio and strengthening. The WW & SW's are ok, but MFP places as much emphasis on exercise as it does on nutrition, which is why…
  • I like you did the old WW and lost weight but couldn't get on with the new WW, despite trying twice. I find counting calories so much easier and it's got an android app which is fantastic because WW only have one for the iphone. I think it's important to get to realise what calories are in food as well as the fat content…
  • I signed up for a charity 5km that I completed last month and I think point 2 is good advice as it gives you something to aim form. I trained in the gym for a while doing intervals before I ran outside and trust me, i'm a terrible runner, but it worked for me. I trained by doing 4 minutes running, then 2 minutes brisk…
  • Well done! Tea tastes better without sugar, you can taste the tea. It's small changes like that which will make the difference, so well done and keep up the good work.
in NSV!!! Comment by M155AUS May 2012
  • 1. walk up a flight of stairs and not be puffed out 2. run 5km 3. finish a spin class 4. be comfortable in my own skin 5. want to eat vegetables and crave healthy food, not junk
  • Yep, all the time! But I have learnt by having one calorific meal I will only compound the problem and I will only feel worse. Now even when I do go off course, I track it as sometimes its not as bad as you think. Good luck!
  • Well done! Must feel great to be buying smaller clothes, it's the real test, not just the scales! I ran my first 5km and set the benchmark to beat it.
  • To feel good about myself in my wedding dress... 10lbs ought to do it, but anything near that will make me happy.
  • I ran my first 5km today for the race for life. Good shoes essential. I didn't do the C25K, I trained using intervals, running on a treadmill for 4 minutes slowly, then walking for 2 minutes, running slightly quicker for 4 minutes, then walking for 2 mjnutes and making sure that I did that for at least 35 minutes. At first…

  • Congratulations!
  • Dont' be dispondent. It will take your body a little while to adjust. Someone once told me, you don't tend to lose weight (the healthy) way from the week of, it's usually the week before. So, you may be in for a nice treat next week. I have found that people don't notice any weight loss from you until you reach the almost…
  • You need to remotivate yourself, it's usually that you have lost sight of what you have already achieved and forget that you have got there by making some changes. I am the worst for that! I have been trying weight watchers for a few months, which is why I haven't logged in, but I found it expensive and they don't have…
  • I am doing the RFL on 20th May in Harlow, been training for a few weeks, but not a natural runner, not matter how hard I try. I have just managed to do 5km on the treadmill, but it's in the gym and all flat and my route has hills apparently. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I survive, but it's all for a good cause, as…
  • Any 'baked' meals are generally pretty good. I did a chicken tandoori and as it had no sauce, it was actually rather low in calories compared to a korma. Stay away from all the creamy dishes as they are the ones with the extra calories. # This gives you an indication of calories per dish.…
  • My sister and I had been watching a tv adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. When we went to the bookstore later that day, she picked up a copy of Pride and Prejudice and when reading the end said 'Jane Austen changed the ending'.
  • I went to a wedding reception and had a small plate of a hog roast and nibbles, then went to mcdonalds afterwards and had a chicken wrap and ate all the chips with it. Yeah, it was far too much. Workout video for me today!
  • My mini goals were in 7lbs and 14lbs (stone) and I would treat myself to something small along the way and then new clothes as a big present when I last lost some weight. You could have a mini-goal of everytime you drop 2 or 3 dress sizes, you will pack up your old clothes and buy yourself a new wardrobe if you want to…
  • 1. Kit Kats 2. Jaffas 3. Kingston biscuits 4. Lamingtons 5. Burger rings With the exeption of number 1, I can only get the rest of in Australia (ex-pat in UK now), which is my saving grace!
  • With most weight loss you will find you drop weight almost immediately and then your body will adjust and plateau for a week, sometimes a couple. My friend will lose 1lb, then maybe 0.5, then maybe put one 0.5 then the last week of the month will lose 7lb, so 8lb in a month, on average 2lbs per week. It's different for…
  • I've got around 20lbs to lose and want to do this by January as I'm flying back home to get my dress for my wedding fitted. I will also be at a weight that I plan on maintaining. My goal weight isn't much below your weight now, but it's a size I've been at before and is right for my frame. I am doing lots of spinning and…
  • It may be a confidence thing for him. He may be worried that if you get, in his mind, 'too good looking' you may get attention that you perhaps previously haven't got and you will enjoy it more than you enjoy him. My other half is very supportive, but he does get insecure about the attention (limited as it is) that I get.…
  • Apparently all the snore sprays etc don't work as the body gets used to them after 3 - 5 days. I sufffer with exactly the same problem as you and I usually have to kick him out around 2 - 3 nights a week. We are going to try an air purifier in the room during the day which will replace the lost moisture in the room. Turn…
  • I didn't really like my bf at start, but only went out with him because he was my friends mate and I felt like I 'should' go out with him. Our first date I got very tipsy and the second I had a go at him because he was using his mobile on the date. I was brutal, and I now I look back, it was him just being really nervous.…
