I wish I could say the same but THM has been a disaster for me, after 5 weeks I went up two sizes! I'm already obese to begin with :( I'm struggling to get back down, even avoiding gluten and dairy hasn't done anything. I was excited to try it because I have hashimoto's thyroiditis and thought it could help that but no…

A very insightful post, thanks. I could post a novel about the many ways I've experienced first-hand pretty much everything you said. I have Binge Eating Disorder. After reading "Brain Over Binge" and "The Diet Cure" I decided to stop logging my food and stopped counting calories weeks ago. I used to watch TV while eating…

You know what causes binge eating disorder? Dieting. Read "Brain Over Binge" by Kathryn Hansen, she's done some great research and explains exactly how our brain chemistry changes when we diet and makes some people end up with this problem. Another good book is "The Diet Cure" by Julia Ross. She explains that many people…

206.8 Same as last week. May have to try a different IF style this week.

I tried that several times but had problems. Either the grounds kept getting into the coffee or the coffee just tasted really weak. They sell Nespressos at Williams-Sonoma. I wonder if they have one on display and give samples? Someone recommended the Chef's Choice Electric French Press; it has good reviews on…
-
I have one and love it, but mostly only use it on weekends/days off because I'm so rushed in the mornings. Also, I seem to need a lot more coffee grounds for it than I would with other methods.

206.8

Wow, I just completed my second day of IF'ing and I'm glad I found this group! I've started with just a basic 16/8 but haven't gotten into the carb cycling. Not sure if I'll stick with the Leangains way, I'll be looking at other IF styles too, but I'm looking forward to sharing this experience with like-minded people. I…

Wow look at the flat belly! Insanity's always scared me :P Congrats!
-
Wow you look great! Which Slim in 6 did you start with? I looked it up but there are many different ones.
-
Holy crap that's awesome! You have a lot to be proud of!
-
Great job! Did you do it everyday or did you take a rest day in between?

Back to the calories... how do you determine how many to consume when you're doing Paleo/Primal? Do you just go by what MFP suggests?
-
Do you count calories following Paleo/Primal? It was hard for me because on the one hand I wanted to track everything but then got worried about going over my calorie limit. I also didn't have a sense of portion control and felt like I was eating too much protein.
-
Next time you feel like that lie/sit down and get your legs up as soon as you can. That'll get the blood flowing back towards your heart/head.
-
I wish I could hire YOU to train me too! I reluctantly stopped weighing myself during that time, but if I had I could've caught myself in time to have avoided my current situation. I feel really lost on how to proceed. Lack of sleep has definitely been an issue lately, mostly from work-related stress (I'm an RN in a busy…

My TDEE according to my BodyMedia Fit (and who knows how accurate these devices really are) was about 2200 (I averaged 7 days' worth to get my baseline). I only did SL 5x5 for 6 weeks and from what I've readheard it's extremely unlikely that I gained muscle in such a short time. I had really high hopes I'd be successful…

Maybe Stronglifts wasn't for me then. I wanted to lose fat by lifting heavy and saw several before & after photos in the Success Stories threads from women who were successful with it. Now have a weight bench, weight plates, and Olympic barbell in my garage collecting dust... I cringe everytime I see them :ohwell:
-
It was about 8 weeks. I was also doing the Stronglifts 5x5 program during that time but stopped after 6 weeks because of the weight gain, plus I just wasn't seeing any positive changes in my body or losing inches. I was eating at maintenance based (I bought into the "reset your metabolism" idea), and got my TDEE info from…

Did NOT work for me.. I'm now trying to lose the ~20# I gained doing it. I'm happy (and jealous!) for those for whom this has worked, but one size does not fit all.

Sounds very helpful, thanks for sharing your tips and your story.

The idea of "low" blood pressure is kind of moot. What you need to know is your "baseline" BP to really know. Also, unless you're feeling lightheaded/dizzy/etc, your blood pressure is probably just fine because your "low" number is your baseline. As for sodium, I started watching my intake because about 3 mos into my…

You look fab, and thanks for sharing what you do to get those guns!
-
Unfortunately I bought into the "reset your metabolism" hype and started eating at maintenance several weeks ago, but stopped after about 3 weeks because a) I felt bloated/sick, b) I noticed myself falling back into old habits, and c) I reviewed 370 days of my food diary(!) to see my calorie intake during that time, and I…

Overall I've been progressing except for certain moves like Overhead Press and Bench Press where it's going slower. What do you mean by a cut phase exactly? As I mentioned in earlier posts, my BodyMedia Fit shows, on average, that I burn 2100 daily. I set my daily calorie goal to 1680 (20% below my TDEE).
-
I set my daily goal to 1680 (since BodyMedia Fit gives me an average of 2100 TDEE, so I set it for 20% below that), and I have my macros set to 40/30/30. Yesterday I was about 130 cals under my daily goal, sometimes I'm about that much over. I try to eat as clean as possible (though did have a splurge on Saturday evening…

Well after comparing pics I'd taken May 1st (before doing SL) and pics from yesterday, I'm very tempted to stop SL and just go back to my 35-min kettlebell workouts 3x/week and cardio 2-3x/week. Seeing those pics was downright depressing. I looked at the pics from May 1st and thought how slim and fit I looked back then.…

Nice :drinker:

Yes I wear a BodyMedia Fit which averages a 2100 TDEE. I'm aiming for 20% below that.
