Celebrating next week's birthday this Saturday... I plan on eating and drinking whatever the hell I want. I'm busting my *kitten* every weekday between bootcamp and marathon training - I am going to relax and not worry about going over any totals of anything.

If your doctors are not taking your health concerns seriously and brushing off what is obviously an increase in symptom severity - you need to find new doctors.

The only thing I use my FitBit for is tracking my sleep patterns and if I'm going to be out and about on vacation. I wore it on my vacation last fall to Quebec City and it was good to have a rough estimate of how much walking we did in a 3 day period.

For those who do want to run with (in training or races where allowed) Auria Exceed headphones are pretty kick *kitten*. They fit snugly into your ear and allow ambient noise without compromising your music listening. I can wear these, hear my breathing, feet, everything around me, carry on a conversation etc just like I…

Getting back into riding! I haven't seriously done any riding in about 10 years since moving to Canada, my horse is here with me and has been since 2004 but I just haven't been able to work the timing out right (he's about 30 minutes drive away). I sat my first pony around the age of 3 and from the age of 7-21 I was riding…

The C25K is a great program and if you have an iPhone or Touch there are several apps that tell you when/what to do as well as track your progress. I don't have a Droid phone but I would safely assume there are such beasts for those phones as well out there. I have done one round of it last year and I'm about to start…

I have only ever worm VFFs for running. I made the switch from a traditional running shoe a year and a half ago as I figured I had nothing to lose by trying as traditional runners were destroying my feet/legs/back. Within a month of switching I noticed a definite improvement in my balance and every day living pain. A year…

You should be able to find tea tree oil (has anti-bacterial/fungal properties) in the "vitamin/supplement isle" at just about any pharmacy or health food store. It comes in a small bottle and usually (at least here in Ottawa I've found) runs about $10. You only need a couple of drops shaken into the wash so it'll last a…

Cutting your hair really really short can be really really liberating! I started making the motions of cutting my hair off in 2007 when I went from butt length hair to just below my shoulders, in 2008 my hair had grown down to my bum again and i cut it all off in a short bob... I found having it short i HAD to do something…

How I wash my workout clothing Hot water Tea tree oil "free" soap - dye free, scent free Vinegar in the rinse cycle to soften clothing (don't use softener!) Remove your workout clothing as soon as possible after you are done and shower. If you cannot have a full shower at least figure a way you can wash your back easily…

I had similar problems (and occasionally still do) when I first started running. Sore neck can be from holding your upper body too stiff, try to be more fluid with your shoulders and arms. Lower back try not to tip forward from the hips. Lots of warming up before you start to really move (including shoulder/arm exercises)…
