My kitchen has been bothering me for a while now, so when the kids were away at their grandparents I started to pull stuff out of the cupboards and wash them and decided to get rid of a bunch of stuff that we no longer use. I have a big kitchen and I still have a couple of cupboards and the pantry to do. Once that's done,…

Today I went though my kids clothes and packed away a lot of small clothes that they can't fit into anymore. They will be given away and out of my house. Some toys are going to be leaving too. They have too much stuff that they don't play with.

Yesterday, I went though every room and picked up every piece of paper including my kids artwork and sorted through it all. Some went into the shredder, some has been filed away, some was put in recycling. This one little task made the house look better and more approachable for cleaning. I think today I will clean out my…

I needed an attitude change so I started a gratitude journal that I do every night and fill in 3 things that I'm grateful for that happened during that particular day. Funny, when you start looking for the good in the day your whole attitude can change.

I find daily guided meditation (5-10 minutes) helps keeps my anxiety at a bearable level. Exercise, list making, baths are help as well. I do see a therapist once a month to find my triggers and that has helped greatly as well. Best of luck to you!

I got rid of all my 'fat' clothes and it felt great, I told myself that I would never get back to that size. Now I've gained a bit and only have a few pieces that fit. It's okay though, it's motivation to get my butt in gear and lose the weight I gained. I've been working a lot with my psychologist to get rid of my mental…

That losing weight doesn't make you happier as you thought it would. That losing weight and your mental health are so closely linked that you have to work on both to achieve your goal. That even though you have all the 'tools' to lose weight and the best of intentions, it's still a struggle most days. It's so easy to fall…

Thanks for that, I just got sucked down and huge Facebook rabbit hole (it was fun!)

I'm on week 2 of Turbo Fire and I'm loving it! The calorie burns are pretty great and I'm down about 5 pounds too. It takes a little bit of time to get used to the moves but as long as your moving, it's a good workout.

I think it depends on the province. I don't have one on mine and I live in NS and just got it renewed.

Volume eating, learning to bulk up my foods with more veggies and still stay within my calorie goal for the day. Huge eye opener for me and has made staying in a deficit much easier lately.

My favourite was that essential oils can cure my anxiety. Nope it won't, but talking to a psychologist helps  Also, those who act like their way of eating is the only way to lose weight and that it's not CICO. Yes, it is always CICO.

Won't be happening here, there are a ton of wild bunnies and lots of bunny poop in my grass.

I was always the one struggling when walking with my husband haha. Now I can keep up with him, but I have to slow down when holding my daughters hand lol.
-
That my pace when walking will get quicker and sometimes I'll feel like running instead of walking. Who would have thought??

I think (I could be wrong) that they are saying this based on some personal experience. Kelly put out a video out regarding her OCD and how it was so bad and she couldn't stop thinking about calories and how much she was eating, she used to track and combined with her OCD it made it so hard to live a life. She said she…

I really enjoyed his book The Hungry Brain. I'm doing so much better now because of his insights.

Great advice by both of you, thank you for your replies. I like the idea of switching up reps, that's something I never even considered to be honest. I am going to have a closer look at the program that was mentioned earlier in the thread, might be something I can work with and tweak to my needs. Thanks, Susan

Hi Patrick :). I've been struggling lately with laziness and it has shown on the scale. I do like weight lifting and running, in a perfect world I'd love to be able to do both a day but I know I can't sustain that (been there, tried that - failed miserably). I've been leaning more towards outside activities as the weather…

I like the price of CoolWay, I haven't tried it but I might give it a go later. I have some HT in my freezer currently and it's good because it doesn't give me the warm, fuzzy - eat it all feeling that other ice creams do (my favourite is Scotsburn's Udderly Devine - so tasty!)

I found Halo Top in the normal ice cream section in the Superstores in Nova Scotia, so I guess it would be good to check both sections when you are at the store.

@Tacklewasher It's actually here in Dartmouth, NS. I went one day and it was completely sold out but the next day there were 4 flavours available. I got the oatmeal cookie and the birthday cake one. I'm hoping candy bar will be there soon, I might check the other Superstore that is up the street to see if they have a…

Just checked and they are selling it in Halifax! What should I try first???

I'm reading a book right now called The Hungry Brain by Stephan Guyenet and it gets into why we crave certain foods and not others. If you are up for a read it would be a good one to pick up. I'm hoping it will help me understand the reason I crave and overeat certain foods (ice cream, chocolate, and chips) and not on…

I have a different experience. Yesterday, I was holding my three year old daughter who weights 32 pounds and I decided to hold her up (like a overhead press) and I was surprised at the amount of strength I had. I then decided to throw her up in the air and catch her. It wasn't hard at all! All that strength training is…

I feel your pain. I had a C-Diff infection as well. It was treated with PO Flagyl for 2 weeks and I used a probiotic for months afterwards just to get back to normal. It seemed like a year before I felt like I was back to myself. Hang in there, it will get better. I don't know what kind of probiotic you were on but I was…

I think I know what you mean, I used to be smaller - around 135, I'm 190ish now and I found it hard to be around my bigger friends at that time because I felt out of place and judged. It's hard to explain but I felt like I was being judged for possibly judging them. Most likely all in my head but when I gained the weight I…

Just looked at your diary and you could use some tightening up on your logging. Check out this post, it's very informative. http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10621050/how-to-use-the-usda-food-database-mfp-food-database-for-accurate-logging/p1

I also have two kids, one 3 and the other 1. I find I am picking them up and carrying them around throughout the evenings which I think help with my NEAT.
-
I got one for Christmas a couple years back and can't use it because it lifts my legs up too high and my knees hit the underside of my desk. It's unfortunate because I thought it would be a great way to increase my NEAT. I used to walk around to brush my teeth but then my daughter started it and I'm afraid of her falling…
