  • If it ain't walking it's running speeds vary! If you watch marathoners they don't run as fast as sprinters or 5k and 10k runners but they are still running! Runners world just ran an article about this too LOL

  • the idea behind chewing your food longer is like the idea of "mindful eating". Basically if you take longer to eat it you will have a chance to stop yourself from inhaling your food. The brain doesn't keep count unfortunately  If you are eating at home I would just reduce your portions by half, enjoy your meal, have…
  • It clicks and unclicks all the time  Usually the thought of how long I'd have to workout to burn those calories keeps me from breaking, on days when that sweet tooth is just screaming I keep hard candy handy, usually one will do the trick while I get dinner cooked. My best successes are NOT having to go to the store…
  • Sit and be fit  or a version of it anyway. If you use a gym they have a cardio machine at mine that it a reverse bicycle basically, come to find out it is generally for injured or handicapped people, you sit in it and use your hands to rotate the peddles basically. Otherwise you can do a lot of weights while…
  • It happens to me, I have found a few solutions. One I usually did not eat or hydrate well that day and a GU packet and some water seem to revive me, I'm guessing from what I have read it is most likely due to starting intense exercise and blood sugar levels drop too quickly. Just about 100 calories with water or gatorade…
  • Oh, and for the record corn didn't make me fat, it actually makes me sick, I'm pretty sure my haagen dazs habit helped get me to my worst, oh and coffees made of half and half instead of milk when I worked at starbucks, I made myself fat by losing control!
  • Corn and wheat are primary ingredients in most of our food, this dates back to just after the great depression when farmers and scientist got together to figure out how to boost food production and storage. If you do some research you will find that since this was done our waist lines have continued to grow and grow due to…
  • More water can help. There are reasons why you get headaches after working out, usually due to trying to do too much too soon or really long strenuous workouts. I used to get them when I first started running and I would push through intervals pretty hard, at least they were hard at the time! If the headache is throbbing,…
  • If it's plantar fasciatis she need to stretch it, you can find tons of stretches online. I had a really bad round of plantar fasciatis when I first started getting back into shape, went to a foot and ankle specialist and I was pleased when he told me to continue running and walking. I was given an orthotic, stretched,…
  • NOOOOOOOOPE! I would seek out a trainer that was in great shape, not necessarily buff, I prefer long and lean to buff personally. I also wouldn't pick one that doesn't look interested while training you, I have seen those ones before and I'd be pissed to spend money and have my trainer lack enthusiasm! My husband and I…
  • Well you know it's really bad if you have to brace yourself to sit down on the toilet :blushing: Having been there I either do a rest compression ice and possible aleve recovery or I have found the better choice is to get some cardio in to help warm up the muscles, I usually do a spin class or go for a short run and then…
  • Depends on your height first, I found early on it only took 10lbs or so then I hit a point where it took 20 to make a difference, and since clothing size changes depending on where it's made...
  • Yay you! I love races, I may not win anything but it keeps me motivated to keep training! I will be trying a 10k for the first time in November, well not trying...DOING! Anyway, congrats and keep up the hard work!

  • It all depends on what your overall goals are guys. If you are wanting to be a big ball of mass then lift away, if you are looking to have that long lean ripped body then you have to be able to do more than lift barbells.
  • It's been proven that long term weight loss is 70% diet, 30% exercise so be strict with your calorie intake and if you're up to it you can do some upper body weights until you are back on both feet again. Healing will require calories so don't go too crazy
  • You can start running whenever you feel like starting! Couch to 5k is a great way to get started. I used a series of programs from Cardio Coach. Just remember to pace yourself, I run a lot of races and I see people that go all out and by mile one they are pooped, you don't have to run fast to be a runner, slow and steady…
  • Garden of Life Raw Protein, runs 30-40 per container with about 28 servings per, comes in many flavors I know you can find it at Whole Foods or Online.
  • I really like my wahoo. I wanted one that was compatible with my iphone 4s so I wouldn't have another thing to wear to the gym or out on runs. It has gps and I can sync it to other applications, LIke run keeper or nike+. I have had it for a couple of months and I am really happy with it.
  • I would suggest seeing an allergist and getting tested for allergies for not only pollens but foods. You could possibly be exposing yourself to a fragrance or food that is causing your problem. Now, my husband works at Whole Foods and I have to say I love it because we get all kinds of educational information that has…
  • My husband swears by his vibrams, he tried them once and has never looked back, he now has several pairs for different running terrains. I had a lot of plantar fasciatis issues and achilles tendonitis so I have had to wean down, my favorites are saucony and surprising a pair of asics. Next step I'm hoping to get into the…
  • smartphone? mapmyrun runkeeper nike+ with gps there are a ton of free apps that will track for you my heart rate monitor is on my phone too and it has gps ability, and if all else fails go old school and get in the car and odo it!
  • Number ONE is perfume of any kind, if you wear perfume to work wipe your neck and arms off before getting hot and sweaty. Two: people who talk on their cell phones LOUDLY, if your call is that important take it outside otherwise give yourself 30 minutes of peace and workout My list could go on and on but those are my…
  • Yes, Yes and Yes! adding resistance training, HIIT and interval runs actually helped me run better too!
  • I totally changed the calorie intake, I used a method from one of the trainers at my gym. Anyway, I am eating 1600-1800 cals a day, NOT eating exercise calories back :noway: and I am losing again after a very long plateau.
  • grilled chicken and vegetable orzo salad, hot or cold its up to the eater! grilled chicken, artichoke hearts, roasted bell peppers, grilled zucchini and orzo topped with a little red wine vinegar (oil optional) it's about 256 calories per serving and delicious
  • absolutely! Helps you avoid the crash and over eatting later. chocolate milk is easy and one of the best recovery options. Lately I have been doing chocolate protein, banana, skim milk and a tbsp of natural peanut butter....delicious and quick!
  • My favorites are Asics, Brooks and Saucony. Mizunos and Adidas have some good ones out this year, I can't do nike, they don't like my size  seeing that I'm an 11 and nike seem to run small.
  • I am a running shoe hoarder. It is true that once your feet or lower legs start to ache it's time for new ones, of course the time will vary from person to person and the miles they are putting in. The best time to buy shoes and get a deal is right at the new year, most shoe stores and online stores will be reducing the…
  • I started on the treadmill and decided to go outside after the stupid thing finally broke  Outside was harder at first because the mill keeps your pace but now I find the treadmill harder just because it completely bores me to death, I only use the mill because it's too damn hot to go outside in Phoenix from mid june…
