  • I've used the Powerplate variety, if that's the kind of thing you mean. I found it very good for strengthening the muscles around my knee when I had a joint problem that meant I couldn't use things like the leg press. I also use it a lot for strengthening my calves and feet by lifting my heels with my knees slightly bent.…
  • Jinkies!
  • Be careful with rice database entries whether it's showing cooked or uncooked weight. Dry rice is 2/3 times the calories of cooked rice per 100g.
  • Knightmare and Crystal Maze. If you're not British, you won't have a clue what I'm talking about.
  • Sometimes I consider it a battle against what "was done" to me. Without the depression it caused, would I have gained this much weight? I do kinda look at it as regaining my youth, and my self. I may not be able to be a kid again, but I can at least get fit enough to go play with kids! I still have my responsibilities, but…
  • A decent instructor would be able to show you some poses that didn't involve the floor, until you felt comfortable.

  • 3 with 8 and 7 :)
  • My current favourites are Lemon & Ginger, Cherry & Cinnamon, and Licorice. I think I'm generally a sugar and spice girl!

  • Emotional Eater: High Big Eater: Moderately Low Addictive Eater: Moderately High Lazy Eater: Low People Pleaser Eater: Moderately High Control Freak Eater: Moderately Low Surprise surprise, my emotional eating and addictive eating is pretty high. Was surprised to see the people pleaser result though.
  • Friend me! I can probably find some exercises you can do. My pilates teacher gives exercises to people who are walking on crutches, things you can even do lying on a bed ( as long as it's not too soft). Good on you for losing the weight you have, and reaching out for more support :)
  • Um, hypnosis can be a very effective treatment for things that involve willpower, and basically things that you can use your mind to fix. Things like stopping smoking and losing weight can be made easier. But as the OP said, you still have to put in your effort. It does depend on how susceptible to hypnosis you are though,…
  • I tried yoga at 400 lbs. It's ok with an instructor who can adapt, and with a beginner class that doesn't mind learning the variations you need. I did fine with yoga until they changed instructor to a less experienced person who struggled to adapt to me. Now I do pilates, with a wonderful instructor who can handle people…

  • I added a "weigh in" to MFP for approximately when I started losing weight, and my weight then. You have to remember to put the date correct, otherwise it doesn't make sense. I like seeing the pounds I lost before I joined MFP.. I like seeing the total :)
  • I remember one time I did a really hard work out after I'd been depressed for a while. As I was winding down at the end, I cried a small amount, thankfully nobody could see. But then I walked out to the change rooms to hide before anyone noticed... bumped into my favourite gym instructor, who then asked me what was wrong.…
  • I actually WASN'T trying to eye them up at the time... I may have been doing it without realising though..
  • I got in so much trouble at school in the pool changing rooms because the other girls thought I was eyeing them up, I struggle if people are wandering around naked in the gym changing room. I don't want to start drooling and embarrass myself..... the perils of being bi!
  • Ok.. I don't find kissing cheating. I would do it in front of my other half. He would in front of me too. I don't find having online flirts, even sim sex cheating. My other half watches sometimes to take notes :P We are loyal to each other, in our own ways. I know lots of people wouldn't agree with this, but it works for…
  • Yeah, wish I'd known about it earlier too, although I haven't been anywhere that people will notice. Maybe I'll do it tonight for tomorrow in the gym, see if anyone notices. Is this an american thing? or an International Day?
  • I am and always have been a pretty confident "fat girl", and rarely have any problem with people taking me seriously. It helps if you're fit enough to stand up straight and walk with confidence. Only a few idiots seem to have a problem with me. And I get hit on... I've even had to turn down a few offers!
  • I love my pilates for strengthening up and feeling better about exercise! However I go to a class at my gym, and I suspect it's much harder trying to learn how it should be done from a dvd or book. I've also been going to the gym since I was 406 lbs... and to my pilates class too. Look for more "community" gyms, not the…
  • Wow. I'm glad my friends aren't as closed minded as the OP! Is it cheating when your partner gives you permission to have an affair?
  • Tonic water is usually recommended as something that helps deal with cramps rather than just generally sore muscles. I can't remember the science behind it, I'm sure if I wasn't lazy I could google it :)
  • I sing... anywhere I can get away with it.. I do macrame, including friendship bracelets, wall hangings, christmas decorations, coasters... I game, mainly puzzle games and old rpg games. Things I don't have to pay to play :P
  • Got engaged when I was 19 to a 20 yr old. We'd been together 11 months when he proposed. .. almost 15 years later, we still haven't married! Still together though. Married in everything but name.
  • mini-milk icecream sticks. Walls brand ones are only 30 cals a stick!
  • Where's the *like* button?
  • If previously you kept your feet up a lot, then I can see how suddenly standing/walking more would give you swelling. Standing tends to increase the swelling, but walking should help your body pump the water back up out of your legs better. Don't give up moving! I tend to wear lace-ups to keep it out of my feet, because…
  • I have a guy in his 70s that thinks it's ok to come over to me while I'm on a cardio machine and give some comment " get on and run for a change", "you can go faster than that", " you can go longer than that". I'm not sure if he means to be helpful, but telling a 360 lb woman with mobility problems to run seems like an…
