  • After reading this posting, I read it again, aloud, to my husband and two kids (age 13 and 10). And then I explained why you are so motivating to me. Your writing style and willingness to share so much of your experience keep me moving forward. I have so much less to do to get to my goal, that I feel guilty if I don't do…
  • After 4 years, I have become such a fan that I will become a certified instructor on November 3! If you had told me 5 years ago that I would be a fitness instructor in 2012, I would have laughed out loud in disbelief! The reality is that there just aren't enough classes in my area for me to get my fix, so I am going to get…
  • MR. TFT, you are the most open person I have ever "met"! I hope that casting your troubles on these waters brings you some peace. Maybe you should ask your sister what she needs from you instead of trying to fix what you think needs to be fixed. It may be the best solution for you both. Hugs!
  • Well done as usual! I had a similar encounter with candy corn a couple of weeks ago. I wasn't quite as controlled, but managed not to eat the whole bag before I stopped. This was at work and I left the bag in my desk overnight. That night I felt so awful that the next morning I walked into my office and before I even…
  • Another great post, Mr. TFT! I believe (from experience) that you may have just hit on the primary cause of yo-yo dieting. The great rush at the beginning, followed by Doldrums, followed by giving up, just to repeat the cycle. Now that it has been named - it will be easier to fight!
  • erinpaigeh, you are not eating enough! 2 shakes a day, replacing two meals will help you lose weight. Make sure you are getting at least 75 grams of protein total from your meals and shakes. That will help with the hunger and also help build/keep muscle. Your non-shake meal should be more than 500 calories - more like 700…
  • Posts like this are why I asked to be your friend. You are so inspiring to those who read your posts (yours truely included) that it would be impossible not to be a better me after reading about you becoming a better you! Kudos from Michigan. You are my hero!
  • Our daughter just turned thirteen last spring. We were at a sunken island in the middle of the lake one Saturday and she started running through thigh deep water (chasing her younger borther). Her long hair was blowing in the wind and she was wearing her two piece green camo tankini. My husband muttered under his breath…
  • I have only lost 8 lbs, but I did that in my first fully focused month (make that re-focused, cuz I've been yo-yoing my way up for a few years now...) I am back in large tops instead of XL. My pants are getting loose in the waist and thighs. I am excercising when ever I can (running, Zumba, Body sculpt, and family fun…
  • If it's a biggie to you, then that's what is important. My doctor told me once, just pick a plan and stick with it - they all work if you do them long enough. Be patient with yourself and give your body a chance to catch on to what you are doing! Good luck!
  • Thank you all for your insights - they are in line with what I have already learned through my research. More thinking to do now...
  • Bump...anyone??
  • My favorite is the Shapeworks protein bars by Herbalife. You have to buy them from a distributor (not in stores), but they taste great and are only about 150 calories. My kids love them too - they each take one every day in their lunch for school.
  • I am glad you answered the "eating your exercise calories" questions and also glad you explained "bumping". Here I was, imagining all of those hips slamiing side to side... (as in "do the bump"...) I am 1 week into this site and enjoying the conversations!
