• I didn't read the other posts, but I'd advise to stick with Fage or chiobani. Other Greek yogurts are not Greek yogurt, they are Greek-like. They use fillers and thickeners to make it the same consistency because it is faster and cheaper for them to do so. When they do that the protein goes way down. I heard a program on…
• Breastfeeding is actually in the food section (weird I know). I add it into my breakfast calories. Just type in breastfeeding like you would search for a food. There are several option available. There's the newborn-6 month at -500 a day, 6-12 month at -400/day, and then the older baby (3-5 feedings a day) at -300/day. My…
• Don't put too much pressure on yourself right now...I know it's hard, but if you just count your calories and get some movement in there each day you'll get the weight off. I'm at 11 months now postpartum. I'm still breastfeeding. I do remember right after my little one was born I was having some wicked sweets cravings. I…
• Wouldn't mind bringing it back either!

• Stay away from processed foods. Those are always loaded with sugar. Especially breakfast cereal or flavored oatmeal. Switch to steal cut oats and a little fresh fruit and it will be better already!

• Like the others said, you need those extra calories to make milk. Are you adding in breastfeeding to your diary? It's in the food section (oddly enough), and there are a few different ones depending on how much you are BFing. If your baby hasn't started solids yet, it's 500, if they have but still BF a lot (more than 3-5…
• I disagree with a PP, it does matter even if you aren't a diabetic. Refined sugars are horrible for you! Now if you are going over your sugar because you are eating fruits (especially fruits high in fiber) then I wouldn't worry about it because the fiber is helping your body to process those sugars. It the sugars that are…
• I'm with you! I have a horrid sweet tooth, and I'm limiting my intake too, because too much sugar is just not healthy, and 24 grams a day is the recommended amount. I've been watching my sugar for about 2 weeks now. It's hard. I'm only allowing my sugars to come from fruit for the most part, no candy/ice cream/etc. I just…
• To each is own, to me that is a ton of salt...and the only soda I care for the taste of is root beer. 100mg is a lot! There's no reason for it. I don't drink tomato juice, just like I don't buy jarred tomato sauces for that reason, way too much sodium. I also don't drink milk. So to me that is a LOT of sodium for a drink.…
• I'm not an idiot, thank you. I listened to it, I researched the hell out of it, and then I thought "that makes a lot of sense to me, I think I will try it." PLUS I'm not going with NO sugar, I'm going on the recommended amount. And the amount the doctor recommends happens to be the same that it on myfitnesspal. When I…
• Sorry, to be clear, the research I've done says that yes, it is all sweeteners, not just sugar. That is agave, corn syrup, sugar, etc. To your body it's all the same.
• What would you have done if a dr on NPR said sugar was awesome and you should consume as much as possible?
Consult with Dr. Oz?
I'm not an idiot, thank you. I listened to it, I researched the hell out of it, and then I thought "that makes a lot of sense to me, I think I will try it." PLUS…
• Oh and I totally agree with everyone about the carbs! Especially the white flour. Unfortunately I can't cut back my carbs any more at the moment. I'm also breastfeeding my 10 week old. He has a reaction when I eat dairy (and I had horrible heartburn when I would eat dairy while pregnant) so I've been off dairy for about 8…
• That was the doctor, Robert Lustig, I was listening to! I bought his book and started reading it, but it seemed like most of it was already in the interview I listened to.
• Well, I already don't do some things, like drinking soda...the major bad that the doctor I was listening to mentioned. In soda they put a TON of salt into it to make you thirstier so you drink more, and in order to balance that out they have to put even more sugar or artificial sweetener to balance it out and make it taste…
• I had to give it up a few months ago during pregnancy...and still can't have it now that I'm breastfeeding because it bothers the baby when I do. Almond milk is great, but in my coffee I LOVE silk nog. Don't know what I'll do when it's gone for the season! Almond milk is too thin for me to put in my coffee...would rather…
• I just had my son 2 weeks ago (my second). Don't put too much pressure on yourself to get up right away to start walking, remember, you are recovering! I'm getting ready to go on my second walk since he was born, and I had a very easy birth. You still need some recovery time. Move as much as you can, but also allow…
• Don't give up! you are on your way! You are already seeing success and will continue to see success if you keep it up. I totally understand the whole, my kids don't want to eat my diet foods. If it helps, check out my food diary (we are already friends). My breakfast snacks and lunch are all totally in my control. I eat…
• Yes, have a shake. A few sips at a time. Once you have a little in your tummy you might find it helps to calm those butterflies. Be sure to drink your water if you really cant stomach anything so you stay hydrated.
• Good post! Thanks, many people seem to have this misconception, I hope that you can open a few eyes.
• YES!! And I'm going to work out on Christmas Day. My son is only 2 3/4...he doesn't really get it yet, and since he never wakes before 7 I should be able to get my work out in AND my shower before we do presents. My gift to myself.
• Recently with an eco theme: Animal Vegetable Miracle The Post Carbon Reader On Economics: The End of Growth Just for fun: The Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon was good I too just read the Help The Island (about a leper colony in Greece...and if you don't know greek culture you won't be annoyed at the little things that…
• Good for you for starting an eco friendly business! I work for an environmental non-profit, we put out some amazing videos ( like this one...almost 1 million views! http://www.youtube.com/postcarboninstitute#p/u/1/cJ-J91SwP8w). At home I do the normal stuff, recycle, buy reused, changed all light bulbs to LED's, low flow…
• Not thin exactly, but I always considered by body to be trim and sexy...till I had my son that is. Now I'm fat. But like you I don't really think of myself as fat, but when you put your stats into (for example) Dr. Oz's weight loss challenge and he says you're in pretty serious health dangers, then I got to face facts, I…
• Goodwill and clothing exchanges are good ideas (and good for the earth too!) But 30+lbs is pretty significant. I would suggest a combo of new (or new to you) clothes as well as a good tailor. The girl I take my pants to for hemming can also add a stitch here and there to bring in the waist when I loose a bit...you can't…
• I track Iron and Calcium in addition to the ones they put in automatically. When I was pregnant the doctors I had in Europe would test my blood monthly and have me on supplements for just what I was deficient on...which happened to be iron and calcium (at 6 months when I came to America they switched me to a multi...seemed…
• A $1000 isn't worth your health. Slow and steady to lose the weight and keep it off long term.
• Keep it for a special treat at the end of the night, brush your teeth and go to bed right after. You can't continue snacking if you're sleeping! I've been known to go to bed at 8:45 to avoid a sweet craving, LOL. Best part of those nights is that I wake up naturally at 5 the next morning totally refreshed and hit the…
