I know that sounds stupid. It has been 15 days and I have lost 2 solid pounds... but it is December! I live in the NW and it is super cold.... It is dark till around almost 8am, dark when I am off work :( So no jogging for me.... and worste of all...... I can't seem to fit healthy foods into what I buy.. I try and it is so particular and time consuming and I have two babies who don't wanna eat green beans every meal or a salad... and Idk :( I feel like I started my weight loss journey the wrong time of year and I am still 21lbs away from my goal...

I see where you are coming from, but trust me, there is no "good" time of year to start. There will always be something. If it is something you truely want, you can make it work. Stick around, read recipe threads and look for more support from the groups because you can do it and it is more than worth it!

Try watching your portions and maybe getting an exercise video that you can do at home. Don't eat things you don't like. Also, don't worry about losing weight slowly - a pound a week is great.

You need more food ideas I think, who says you can only eat salad and green beans? You need proteins and fats too. (you just need to be smart about what kind of fat). And, MFP may have you set for 1,200 calories, which unless you are very tiny may not be enough, leaving you hungry and making it harder to stick to it. I make regular dinners, just try to use healthier ingredients, for example whole grain pasta instead of white. Substituting sweet potato for regular potato, etc.

Does your local indoor mall open early for walkers? You could maybe power walk with weights. Or if you have a large enough building you work in.

My whole thing is I tried to incorporate healthier ingredients, fat free, low fat low sugar, no salt etc... and I eat a variety of things, lean mean such as chicken, tuna is my favorite and salad, bananas, apples, cucumbers, carrots, strawberries sometimes, blueberries and such.. I drink usually only water, but I am an avid coffee drinker so I try to limit myself... I walk 30 minutes on my lunch break atleast that is something... but the malls here don't open until 9am.... Lazy mall's ! So.. I guess for now this 30 minutes walking on lunch will have to sefice and then after the 21st when it starts to get darker later maybe I will go jogging... I don't have time or the money to join a gym other wise I would have already :) thanks everyone who has posted or will post it makes me feel better....

Don't give up! you are on your way! You are already seeing success and will continue to see success if you keep it up. I totally understand the whole, my kids don't want to eat my diet foods. If it helps, check out my food diary (we are already friends). My breakfast snacks and lunch are all totally in my control. I eat healthy low cal foods at these times (as much as I can...today after lunch I had a pudding cup...ah well, it was yummy!) Then at our family meal (which my husband normally cooks...lucky me!) I just focus on portion control. I never feel deprived this way because I eat what they are all eating.

Fellow NW person here also. I go to a gym so the early darkness doens't bother me (but dang 5pm dark?!). It's only been 2 weeks!

As far as your diet, do worry about fat fee or low suger/salt TOOO much. It's the calorie total that's what's going to make/break. As you get into it more, you can start looking for lowER salt and lowER suger. But don't kill yourself trying to make those as low as possible. I'd try to keep your protein as HIGH as possible and dont' worry about going over the MFP limit. It's really low.

Instead of jogging, try doing some DVD workouts at home. Or sub jumprope at home. I'll do jumprope in my garage sometimes. Trust me, it burns tons of calories and is a good cardio variation to your running

I have been doing this since June and it does suck now that winter is here, it is dark by 4:15/4:30 and I don't get home from work until 6:30 most nights. So I hear where you are coming from, but don't give up! You can do it, just make adjustments.
