  • By eat to lose, do you mean that you eat all of your exercise calories? I also am starting at 170, (I'm also a teacher with two kids) and I lost 30 pounds using MFP then gained it back after a hectic time in my life. Now I don't remember what I did the first time around... I think I ate some of my exercise calories. So…
  • you could try: spinach (you can't taste the spinach when it's mixed with berries, makes a nice texture) acai berries (powder) ground flax seeds maca root (powder) aloe vera juice
  • I agree that is an acquired taste, like coffee. But I've been drinking a lot lately and it does seem to help curb my appetite. My sister bought me a tea set from TEAVANA this xmas. I LOVED the Fruta Bomba Green Tea from there. I tastes better than regular green tea. Don't know if someone already commented this as well: try…
  • Awesome job! Inspiring!
  • I know that feeling, and I also have wondered where that came from. Ever read The Four Agreements by Miguel Ruiz? Check it out, it might help you with that!
  • Good for you, girl! Inspires me. I'll take any tips you've got!
  • My husband and I drink a protein shake almost every morning as our breakfast. We've done this for a couple of years. Aside from Whey protein, I load it with super foods. I add water, frozen blueberries and strawberries, golgi berries, acai powder, flax seed, maca power, and spinach (you cannot taste spinach when it's…
  • I think it has to do with slowing down your metabolism. If you starve yourself, lose weight, and then try to go back to a normal calorie amount, you'll gain it all back. At least that's what I feel like that's what my body would do.
  • Welcome! Good for you! Anytime is a good time to make healthy choices! Even though it is hard during these particular months/weeks! But if you're going to lose any good amount of weight and keep it off, it's going to be an on-going thing anyway, it won't be short term. You'll always have to deal with holidays, birthdays,…
  • I think Bio Oil works. Works on the face, too, for better skin.
  • Inspirational! Congrats to you!
  • oh, okay, thanks for the info. I guess what I'm asking is, how do you determine how many calories per minute you burn...is there a formula or something? (ballpark, I realize intensity and age and weight and beg vs. end of workout make a difference) But isn't there a way to determine calories per minute burned with some…
  • Thanks for the help ya'll

  • Good goal. I'm in. I'm gonna try to make it a goal for what I feed my kids, too.
  • Something I haven't thought of, thanks! I don't drink nearly enough water, but I do get plenty of salt in my diet! more than plenty!! Good tip!
  • great ideas, thanks a lot!
  • I also have the Sketchers shoes, and like them a lot (besides being pretty ugly). I do feel them working my legs and butt more than regular shoes. But the best part is (and the main reason I decided to buy them) my lower back pain is GONE and they seem to really help my posture. It took a while to get used to working out…
  • Look at the library for a good work-out video. Look on-line, too. You could dance for 20-30 minutes at your target heart rate, if you like to dance. Get your daughter to dance with you. She'll love it, and get her energy out in the meantime. Remember, doing SOMETHING is better than doing NOTHING, even if that something…
  • Makes complete sense. What about he "better posture" component? That is a huge reason I thought of trying these shoes in the first place. I've had some lower back pain lately, and I thought that perhaps if I had better shoes. Any thought on the "helps posture" claim? Thanks for thoughts!!
  • Welcome, welcome! Sticking to this site has been the only thing that has ever worked for me! At least long term! Best of luck to you!!!
  • thanks y'all
  • Good luck! Keep up the good work, sounds like you're doing everything right and I'm sure you'll see results eventually. I know, though, that's it's tough to stay motivated when you don't see steady, immediate results. I'm the same way. But I'm not giving up this time!!!! Stick with it, you'll get there! Sarah
  • I would keep up what you're doing if you've had good results. The same thing is kind of happening to me. But I think it COULD be that you gain muscle weight. So if you're consistently working out and eating a good diet but not dropping weight, your body fat percentage is still going down. I've heard a lot lately about the…
  • great! Thanks ya'll
  • Hi! How do you join a challenge on this site? -Sarah
  • I know, it is SO HARD to get started, Connie. I've been there. My best advice to you is to just do SOMETHING and start small. It's still good for you. Make it a 15 minute goal to start. Personally, the last 3 weeks I've been sticking to the goal of having a deficit of calories at the end of each day. I'm not worried about…
  • Hi all! Keep up the exercising, group! Good job! today I walked on treadmill for 50 minutes at 4.1 pace, doing the "weightloss" setting, so I'm going up hill at intervals. the machine said I burned 530 calories. Tonight I plan on going to my Zumba class, so there will be another couple hundred calories. I ate whatever I…
  • thanks, I'll try it
  • by the way, sorry to hear that you were in a car accident, Shannon. And lovely family you have there! you must be proud!
  • so glad to see there are others on here looking for a group! I've been using this site for a while and I just love it, but I feel like I'm missing something lately by not being part of a motivation group, i.e. not having regular "friends" on the site! I'm serious about losing weight this time, I've stuck with it longer…
