  • Not a specific plan but I think this method really works on the aggregate. Every time you fail, learn. Then fail better next time. Keep doing that to success.
  • Ketosis is a natural state of the body that burns fat for fuel instead of glucose stores. Not sure how this is dangerous under normal health conditions as this is how the human body has evolved. The fact that 99.5% of people gain weight back after losing it is not correlated to any diet, but primarily due to physiological…
  • Are you crashing into Keto (going from full carb to little to none)? If so don't do that. If you are gradually moving into lowering processed carbs and have these issues research remedies for the "keto flu", usually it's sodium related.
  • Switching up your IF patterns is better than a fixed time schedule everyday. Your rotational shifts will actually increase the efficiency of IF. Regardless of weight loss IF does wonders for insulin sensitivity.
  • The body doesn't want food when you are sick. You eat food you feed the invaders and prolong the sickness. Just drink water with electrolytes.
  • Here's a fun mental activity. You lose 4lbs in 2 days. You gain 4lbs in 2 days. Both of these examples are highly improbable under normal eating/exercise conditions. But yet, we tend to believe and over emphasize the 4lb weight gain more than the 4lbs loss. Why is this?
  • Serious question I always have to people who advise to eat back their calories (specifically indicating the reason for exercise is weight loss) from exercise. Why not instead of exercise you just eat less to create the same deficit? I understand there are benefits to exercise, but creating a caloric deficit for weight loss…
  • I'd recommend throwing those keto strips away and giving yourself more time.
  • Yep, lots of people eat in a caloric deficit and lose weight with no exercise. In fact, too much exercise can be a detriment to weight loss if cortisol levels stay high. Granted exercise has a plethora of other benefits, but it's not necessary for losing weight, at all.
  • F the wagon, give me a jetski! Call everything a diet, defuse the word to mean nothing. I'm on a all carrot cake diet. You herd of that all candy diet?
  • I think IF is just the new buzz word/phrase so the trendy people can call it a a "new" diet when it's not. If you think about it lot of our daily routines are based around intermittent patterns. We intermittently sleep, exercise, work. I don't call working for 8 hours and than not working for 16 hours intermittent working.…
  • The symptoms you point out sound a lot like a vitamin (magnesium/potassium/sodium) deficiency issue and not an overall consumption issue, although they can seem one in the same if you are at a large caloric deficit and depriving your body of needed minerals. I wouldn't go back to snacking throughout the day as this will…
  • Free will doesn't exist. Free will is the ability to have acted differently. For free will to exist we need to be aware of everything that is influencing our actions and in control of every influence. This is not possible. Every action that is because you either want to or you are forced to. You can't control your wants…
  • 0.1lb increments Focus is: Lowering weight, trying to maintain muscle mass as best as possible in the process with weight lifting. Usually step on the scale first thing in the morning M-W-F, only record on Wednesday. I accept it as a snap shot in time and not over think it. I just record whatever weight it shows on…
  • I will agree with this sediment. Most people expect too much from their wearable technology and it ends up backfiring. I personally find fitness wearable devices to be over priced for the information they provide. The accuracy of each device is very dependent on the user and operational conditions that more times than not…
  • I once joined a weight loss challenge sponsored by herbalife at a local gym a co-worker invited me to attend classes at because the classes were *Free*. At the end of the challenge they had a conference that I can only describe as a cult meeting at a hotel conference room. Granted not once did I feel pressured to "join"…
  • Honestly, just check youtube or other reputable websites with LOTS of good information on on proper form or workout routines. PT's sessions (if they are free) are also good if you are new to a gym and just want to get familiar, just remember their job is not to get you healthy and then have you leave, but to sell you a…
  • troll or sarcasm?
  • Someone is killin it in the gym. But wait, two different football teams between the two pictures, is this the same person? Serious question, I can't tell.
  • Pretty much 100% this. Losing weight (aside from medical conditions that could impede it) is just that simple. Eat less of the things you enjoy. Don't go for crash "this or that", they work, but then they don't (aka yoyo). Slow and steady wins the race.
  • Are you working out harder/longer while consuming BCAA's compared to before you started BCAA's? The extended soreness could just be you overworking the muscles and them taking longer to recover. As other have mentioned and is also my guess is the BCAA's probably have nothing to do with the extended soreness. No scientific…
  • IF isn't a diet, it's just a pattern of eating to help create a caloric deficit primarily for most people to lose weight. Doctors going to have more answers than google, follow others advise.
  • I'm generally back because my previous weight loss journey was too abrupt and not sustainable. I'm slowly learning from my mistakes and understanding how to approach weight loss as an inevitable slow side effect to the permanent changes I make to my lifestyle.
  • Seems normal slow down to me. If your primary goal is to lose weight eat at caloric deficit consistently and cut back on exercise frequency and intensity. I know a lot of people think they need to ramp up exercise routines as their weight loss slows but it actually has the opposite affect if you are already eating in a…
  • If you have a medically diagnosed vitamin deficiency multi-vitamins is understandable. Otherwise most people just waste money and the placebo effect reinforces their bias to it's benefits. Most take them as "insurance" for future issues or because the listed potential benefits outweigh any risk factors.
  • I've seen a bunch of articles on the MSM referencing the new questionnaire "study" paid for by the drug companies that said keto is bad for you and will end your life early. A bit extreme, but those who are biased against keto latch on to it and protest. Also I actually slap forehead when people say "muscle weights more…
  • Accept it, don't beat yourself up about it, make a conscience choice to get back on the wagon and you are good to go. Repeat as necessary and just be honest with yourself.

  • How much sodium/potassium/magnesium do you get in your low calorie diet?
  • MFP can be your best friend or worst nightmare depending on your relationship with food and how you interpret the tools provided. The struggle is real and coming up with lasting solutions to the underlying issues will be key.
