  • i have completely neglected MFP in the past few weeks. between birthdays, a wedding, and family in town, i kind of stopped worrying as much about my diet. sorry for the blank weeks! in a strange turn of events, even though i've been munching on m&ms the past few days, i somehow managed to lose 4 pounds since my last weigh…
  • i mean... a pint really isn't that big. think of how much most people scoop out when they're helping themselves out of a bigger carton of ice cream. 2 cups isn't too hard to achieve. just sayin'. put a pint of ben & jerry's chubby hubby in front of me and it gets ugly. now when i need something to satisfy me, i go with…
  • i think as long as you're sticking with organic/all natural meat substitutes in moderation rather than stuff loaded with chemicals (such as morningstar products), you're fine. i like these dr. praeger veggie burgers. they're all natural and you can see/taste the veggies, unlike many fake burgers.…
  • i take a multi gummy because regular multi vitamins bother my stomach, along with vitamin d.
  • i'm in! :) hi everyone, i'm lauren. i'll be 24 next weekend. i'm not really positive what my max weight was... and i'm not sure i really want to know haha. i started the 17 day diet on july 1st, and weighed in at 167 that morning (but i had my period, and we all know how that is, ladies). 25 days later, i'm down 7 pounds.…
  • i prefer JM six week six pack, no more trouble zones and banish fat boost metabolism. i've heard that the physique 57 videos are good, but i haven't tried them.
  • i think subway is pretty gross and i try not to make a habit of going there (processed lunch meat? no thanks), but i do strangely like their tuna. i'll get it once in a blue moon on a flatbread with spinach if i'm craving it/too lazy to make dinner for myself.

  • i started to buy sparkling water in a can, and it totally helped. i think a big part of it was cracking open an ice cold can of diet coke, and opening up a can of water has a very similar effect.
  • no kidding. the thought of kraft mac & cheese makes me feel like i've gained 20 pounds instantaneously.

  • started week 3 today. it's funny how the same amount of running can feel like so much less when you only do two of each interval. i was over the second 3 minute run with a minute and 15 seconds to go, but told myself to suck it up and GET OVER IT. :grumble: very hard to believe that i should be able to run for 20 minutes…
  • eggwhites, hardboiled eggs (ok, i don't LOVE them, but they're a great addition to a salad for some extra protein), quinoa
  • i'm also 4'11 (currently 160 -- 45 pounds to go). i have my calories set to 1200 a day, but i'm on the 17 day diet, which is more about eating certain foods than calorie counting. so i don't really stress too much. i've never gone over, though, because i work out everyday. i basically just use the food diary on here to see…
  • definitely not endorsing carbs in mass quantities (or ramen, for that matter), but on average a 1/2 cup to a cup (depending on the shape, of course) of regular pasta has around 40 grams of carbs, so it's not really that outrageous.
  • that's really interesting! thanks for sharing the link. :)
  • i'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that you're a vegan? a little bit of dairy isn't going to kill anyone, especially in the form of a protein powder. i would also say the same to you about not giving into the hype. there's plenty of pro-vegan literature out there that is incredibly biased, such as skinny *****…
  • finally finished week 2... after a week long break...:embarassed: it's been too hot and i've been unmotivated. but hopefully i'm back on track now.
  • i would try tofu shirataki noodies, because they seem to be more accessible. plus, i'm very skeptical that there are zeros across the board on the nutrition facts. seems too good to be true. the tofu noodles are still very low cal/carb. one serving is 20 calories, .5 grams of fat, and 3 grams of carbs. they're not very…
  • everything should be consumed in moderation. whey protein also has a lot of health benefits, so i think it's like most things out there. some things are going to tell you to stay away, and some things are going to say that it's perfectly fine. i think in this case, because it's 100% natural with no artificial crap, it's…
  • i had the yummiest taco salad yesterday! lots of romaine & baby spinach, ground lean turkey with taco seasoning, 1/4 cup black beans, a hardboiled egg, 1/4 cup fat free cheese and 2 tbsp fat free sour cream. according to MFP, it was ~300 calories, 21 grams of carbs, 11 grams of fat & 31 grams of protein! it kept me full…

  • i'm on the 17 day diet and it's primarily lean protein/low carb, but he allows two servings of fruit a day. the catch is that you have to eat them before 2pm, due to the way the sugars break down. try eating it earlier in the day, and like others have said, don't go crazy. i could eat fruit all day long, but it IS filled…

  • i'll have to look for the 100 calorie packs! i don't think nuts are really allowed on the first cycle of the 17 day diet, but i'm burning more calories than he recommends anyways, so i don't think it'll hurt.
  • combination of my first & last names.
  • i'm also from new york, but in florida for the summer. if i don't go running by 8 in the morning, FORGET IT. i went before dinner yesterday because i was cherishing the 75 degree, overcast weather. the sun is brutal down here.
  • just finished week 1. today was the hardest day so far, because my shins decided to start hurting on the 2nd round of running. i almost quit halfway through, but pushed myself to finish. it might not be feasible for me to do only 3 days of each phase, but that's fine! taking it at my own pace.
  • i'd also love to join! tomorrow will be W1, D3. so far so good! i LOVE the c25k iphone/ipod app. it's amazing that all i have to do is push a button and it basically does the work for me. much easier than trying to use a stop watch! totally recommend it if you have a smartphone (pretty sure droid has an app as well)!
  • i stopped buying morningstar products because they're not organic and have a ton of chemicals (i like to pronounce what i'm eating). instead, i use quorn products. they're a bit more expensive, but they're all natural. their chicken patties are great, and i love the tenders. i usually throw them in a stirfry, but they're…
  • sounds great! i'll definitely bookmark this thread.
