  • I had a last minute trip last week for work and unfortunately the altitude in Denver really messed with my asthma, so almost no exercise. I do need to bow out for October though, work and life are about to shift into high gear. Going to keep up with these exercises though, been seeing and feeling great results.
  • I had a crazy awesome weekend. Spent most of Saturday in DC and had tasty Ethiopian before going to see Atari Teenage riot. Lots of walking, lots of craziness at the show, but no official exercise time. Feeling great otherwise, I've had to increase my strength exercise weights, I wasn't getting a challenge out of 8 lbs…
  • I went with a fitbit over a body bug, it helps me quite a bit, but mostly because it lets me gauge my physical activity from day to day to get a better idea of how many calories I'm actually burning. I went with the fitbit because its smaller, so you can wear it more easily every day, and the website doesn't require a…
  • Oh jeez, I think the Bushman stuff looks welcoming this week. I hate burpees!
  • I'm still feeling a bit under the weather but I'm finally eating right again, after sleeping all day >_> I should be able to get in most of my challenge exercises today and some walking in tonight. I'm thinking I just had a relapse of the food poisoning I got while I was in Mexico.
  • Hey guys, just want to apologize but I'm going to completely miss a day. Been sick most of the day unable to really eat or keep what I am eating down. Hoping its just a 24 hour bug but I feel wretched and with not having food I'm not sure I want to try and exercise on top of that.
  • Man crunches are brutal on an upset stomach, made it through today's exercises and had a light on steps day (final recovery from vacation day and still have a bit of an upset stomach). 9913 steps, 4.56 miles total. I was crying for mercy though with the split squats, my muscles above my knees are still hurting from…
  • It was an amazing trip, probably try to post some pictures later this week. Even climbed to the top of a Mayan temple.
  • Hey guys, just got back from Mexico so I should be back to logging and regular exercise tomorrow. Looking forward to doing the challenges for next week. Currently wasted with a hardcore sunburn thanks to snorkeling.
  • MFP automatically creates a healthy deficit for you based on your goals. You need to eat the number it tells you not add a deficit to that.
  • I use to have very high cholesterol. After a couple months on a more whole foods diet with lots of exercise my cholestorel has dropped dramatically. And I eat at least one whole egg every single day. Nom nom egg muffins.
  • If you have a place nearby that sells groceries you can make eggs in the microwave easy. Just scramble it in a bowl, nuke it for a minute, stir and then nuke for about 20-30 seconds.
  • Just about a week to start and only a couple days till I leave for Mexico!
  • I use frozen fruit myself so I can avoid adding ice. Here is my everyday recipe that I make with my magic bullet after exercise: 1 cup frozen fruit (No sugar added variety) 1/4 cup Fage Total 0% yogurt 1 cup Rice Dream (depends on how thick you want it) I also add a scoop of unflavored protein powder and psyllium husk to…
  • You're definitely not alone! I had over 100 lbs to lose myself originally. Also noticed your with the 100+ to lose group I'm involved with as well. If you want feel free to toss me a friend invite, I'm pretty active on the site and I know a lot of the people in the 100+ to lose group are as well.
  • As helpful as melatonin can be for some people, at the proper dosage, which mind you is usually 10 times less then most OTC melatonin, please see a doctor first. I would recommend first seeing your GP, keep a sleep log of your times you go to bed, and log in the morning how long it took you to get to sleep along with how…
  • You know, unless its an actual medical disorder. I have a personal peeve against people who just think its laziness considering I spent years feeling like crap about something I have zero control over. Go research circadian disorders, restless legs and sleep apnea and then tell me its just all about discipline 100% of the…
  • It could be DSPS then, which actually is normal for teenagers, most grow out of it by the early 20's, but not everyone does. Definitely go see a doctor and keep a log of when you go to bed and how long it takes you to fall asleep and when you get up. If you can try to find a sleep specialist that is at least familiar with…
  • Are you actually able to fall asleep at midnight? Or do you tend to toss and turn a lot before falling asleep. There are many sleeping disorders that can account for being unable to wake at a socially acceptable hour so its not necessarily laziness. I would recommend seeing a sleep doctor and look into both Restless legs…
  • What I found helped me the first couple weeks was adding a lot of good fiber into my diet so I felt fuller longer. You could try that to see if you can help those food cravings. To answer your questions, if you earn calories from exercise its generally beneficial to eat all or most of them back. Your body needs fuel burn…
  • A lot of great tips already. The best I can offer is try buying your produce at ethnic markets if you have any available. I started buying my veggies primarily at an Asian market we have nearby because its WAY cheaper then I was paying at the name brand grocers and its just as fresh and tasty, sometimes more so.

  • Not sure if this will work, lets try!
  • Which brings out an entirely valid question. What kinda Misfits are we? or  Anyways, looking forward to the challenge, I'm going to even try to keep up the three days of September I'll be in Mexico as best as I can.
  • Joined in with the Miss Fits, looking forwarding to the challenges next month!
  • I'm definitely in! Though I'll be out of the country the first three days of September.
  • I've done it a few times while walking from the rail station to my office, and I'm sure I looked silly each time. I've been wearing VFF's almost 100% of the time I would have normally worn other shoes for 4 months now. It took awhile to work up to wearing them full time but what I've learned is that my body is pretty good…
  • Even with walking you should try for a forefoot or a midfoot strike. I find when I walk in my VFF's I've naturally moved to a midfoot strike. I don't think I could manage a strike on the ball of my foot while walking. Though I do know right away when I strike on the heel while walking, it hurts and I can feel the jarring…
  • Honestly bass is awesome with just a small amount of butter and pepper pan fried. Its how my dad always made it and its insanely good. Just melt a bit of butter in a pan, then add the fillets once its nice and hot and grind on some fresh pepper.
  • This is also what I did, I started taking a new look at food and how I ate and what I ate and started opting for better healthier choices and a whole lot less all at once. I did use something to help guide me to start, and it has the word Diet in the name but its not really a diet. The DASH Diet was created primarily for…
