I know that feeling well. I'm a chronic on-again-off-again tracker. It always works well for me when I do it, but I lose momentum easily. This is also my first day back after being gone for like four years, and I'm also not feeling motivated about it. But I'm tired of the predicament I've managed to put myself in with all…

I don't worry about sugar from fruit either. I juice and I make smoothies which blows my sugar through the roof. My own personal experimenting has shown me, that for my body at least, it's not big deal. When I was pregnant with my son, I had gestational diabetes and had to take blood samples four times a day. Juices raised…

Oh my gosh! This is my story exactly. I'm 5 months PP with my second child, and I still look 6 months pregnant. I also started my second pregnancy over 200 pounds and I'm only 5'2" So I have that same annoying bulge around the middle. None of my old clothes fit and I can't find any new clothes that fit either. Maternity…

There's a lot good recipes out there and I think its worth looking into some recipe books. What tools do you have? With a high speed blender you can make any number of sauces, soups, Smoothies, and ice cream. I have a champion juicer which will make juice, but also raw nutbutters and homemade sorbet! With a dehydrator like…

Check out 30 Bananas a Day. There are a lot of folks that Thrive on this lifestyle. The key is to eat tons and tons of fruit. Fruit still has fat and protein, and if you're eating enough fruit, you will consume 50+ grams of protein and 30+ grams of fat per day. If your calories are coming from fruit, your body will burn…

A lot of folks will say it's bad, but biologically, that's just not the case. We process fruit sugars extremely efficiently and it's a great source of energy for our bodies. However, other foods that we eat can affect how fruit processes, so that's probably why there are mixed opinions. Example, if you have a high fat…

I've heard a lot of good things about SunWarrior, but I've never tried it. I also use the Vega protein powder some days and I really like it as well. Blended into smoothies I don't notice that it's gritty, but I can say for sure that it is a bit gritty if you just shake it up with some water/juice/vegan-milk like it says…

All of those things you mentioned are healthy for sure! If you have a blender, put a banana, some berries, and a big handful of spinach in with some water to make a green smoothie. You can't taste the spinach at all and it's a great way to get a mega dose of fruits and veggies. I buy big bags of beans and make big crock…

I agree with bevaroo about the dry frying. It took me forever to figure out why I loved tofu every time I ate it at a restaurant but I hated it when I tried making it at home. It turned out that dry frying not only gives tofu a more palatable texture, but it also gives it just a hint of toasted flavor. Dry frying is the…

Very well written article! I had top copy it and send it to some of my friends. I think your words ring true, especially for those that go through a process to get to a vegan life. For me, it has made me feel more connected to to Earth, and it has given me a deep respect for what nature offers us. I find that the further I…

I am battling those same situations. But I also know that it's what I WANT to do. So I'm doing it anyway, and just trying to be a role model. I hope some day my daughter will catch on. Like your kids, she also really likes the raw desserts I make. And i make a lot of them because everyone in my house likes sweets. My…

Leslye! Let's stay in touch for sure! It sounds like you and I are in a similar boat. I've done my research and have my beliefs about my diet, but I also have trouble sticking to them because I let social pressures get in the way, and I don't feel other people are supportive of me. "If it's so good, then why isn't it…

Simply put, raw foods are just foods that are the way nature made them. They contain all of the vitamins, minerals, and essential nutrients that are necessary for life, without all of the chemicals, preservatives, and other things we find in most grocery store food. It's true that raw food is a highly debated subject, but…

I started with one of Ani Phyo's Books that I saw at Whole Foods almost a year ago and I just picked it up. I ended up buying a Vitamix and Green Smoothie Revolution came with it. I try to drink green smoothies every day, unless I run out of fruit. I order a box of food from a co-op every week and sometimes my family goes…

When I was little, my grandparents had a pig named Annie. They bought her to eat her. But her personality turned out to be so charming that no one could slaughter her and she lived to a ripe old age, and when she finally passed on naturally, our whole family came to her burial. She was smart, and liked to play with people,…

I feed this to my 3 year old all the time, and she loves it! I'm not sure she noticed the difference....

For me it started out with some super funky tasting chicken. When I checked the package it said "chicken with rib meat" and I was curious as to what exactly that was. So I looked it up. That was gross. Then I started seeking more and more knowledge about the food I was eating, and it didn't take long before I decided that…

Yum! You can do that with mangoes too. I blend frozen mango slices with a tiny bit of vanilla extract and it makes an awesome sorbet all on it's own. If I want something a little creamer I add about half a tablespoon of raw coconut oil. A little cinnamon is awesome in it too.

dayzeerock, I went to your blog and started reading, and I just wanted to say thanks for posting. Also, I read your most recent post about your mom, and I'm really, really sorry to hear that. My dad died 8 months ago and he was the closest person to me ever. My rock. I would never wish someone to go through that. Since…
