  • I did the same for the week leading up to my competitions. I also cut my water which made a HUGE difference. And I took Intestinal 1 which is a natural cleanser (as in it empties your body of waste).
  • I don't record my exercise so I don't know what calories I can eat back. MFP isn't very good with the lifting exercise tracking anyways so it's difficult. I say it's not worth eating back on a regular basis.
  • I'm doing my first body building contest so I am on here to track my foods for that purpose (not to lose weight). Not to deter you, but I have gained a couple of pounds throughout the process. The difference is that I'm not getting bigger (ex my pant size isn't going up). I am replacing pounds of fat with pounds of muscle…
  • Hi - I'm also training for my first Bikini competition in October. If all goes well, I have a "walk-through" competition in mid-September. Each time I see my posing/diet coach, I get restrictions on my diet. My advice is butt and back. It's hard to build up, but everyone says that's what makes the difference. The diet is…
  • Hi - I see a trainer for posing diet and here is my current diet. Each time we meet, she changes my diet slightly and makes it just a little more painful :). 1800 Calories/Day + min 170 g protein 6 meals That means 300 calories per meal with 30g of protein No dairy or alcohol Supplements: Whole Food Vitamin Fish Oil…
  • Start with the wall push-ups, moving farther and farther away. Then graduate to the knee push-ups until you can continute to the regular push-ups. Concentrate on your form and only go as low as you can in the beginning. Weight training will definately help this area, but I have found that push-ups and pull-ups are more…
  • Looking at my stomach is like seeing Casper and I still run in a sportsbra. I usually try to choose a darker color so that when I sweat it's not see-through. Sometimes I run and get so hot I take my shirt off but nowadays I just push myself out the door sans shirt. I'm self-conscious for a few minutes but then I think what…
  • Protein goes straight to your muscles so the more you workout, the more protein you need. This as apposed to carbs which turn into fat even if you exercise. This isn't to say you will get fat if you eat carbs, but carbs cling.
  • Get oatmeal packets (I love the Better Oats Organic Options with flaxseed and all REAL ingredients); measure out your steel oats the night before so you just add water and nuke (I also like to add 2 tablespoons of Stonyfield French Vanilla yogurt and cinnamon). You can also microwave Egg Beaters and throw some smoked…
  • To the man's opinion - I'm not trying to look "sexy" when I work out. I do run in just a sports bra but I also don't need much support and have not had children. Since I'm training for a fitness competition, I have to be comfortable showing off my body and running in just a sports bra is a good way to get comfortable. I…
  • Visiting my trainer this weekend and will get caloric restrictions at that time. At this point, I eat healthy and keep it under 2000 calories a day. After this weekend, I will be paying attention to calories, carbs, protein, fat, etc. I generally would say I am in the 1700 range. At my last weigh-in and caliper body fat…
  • I don't count dancing or movement as exercise. 1 - you might be tempted to eat it back 2 - it's part of life. If you're counting steps or something like that then it's naturally factored in. I count exercise as a workout class, gym, run, etc. Walking from my car into the mall is not a .10 mile walk that I log.
  • I am using EAS chocolate and I mix it with Soy Milk. The chocolate isn't too bad and it's a "sweet" treat. Also works well to mix in yogurt.
  • Before I started training for a fitness competition, I was lifting max 2-3 times a week. The results didnt' come right away, but after 2-3 months, I had some serious arm definition and my legs slimmed down. I never lifted anything too heavy, but did 3 reps of 15 for each muscle. The lifting did wonders for my metabolism…
  • I am 5' 113.8 lbs and have always had a little belly pooch (even at 10 pounds less). I played sports in college and have always been active. It wasn't until I started weight lifting combined with cardio that the little bit of fat started melting off. Do you cardio after you lift to burn the most fat and I reccomend diong…
  • I am trainging for my first HM in September on a flat trail. I have done 10K before and am also training for a fitness competition in early October. Does anyone have any cross training suggestions that are fun? I last 20 minutes MAX doing cardio in the gym and I can't ride a bike. I'm running 6 days a week and lifting 5…
