Most used items are microwave, coffee maker, rice cooker, waffle iron and slow cooker. Next up is my food processor (I agree with some of the other posters--as I have gotten better at chopping by hand, its easier than cleaning that thing), hand mixer and occasionally my blender. Oh and I almost forgot the thing I use the…

Finally got around to making this and it was great! Made mine with the turkey pepperoni and fresh diced jalepeno (with sauce and mozzarella of course). I can't believe the whole pizza was only 281 calories. Thanks for the great idea!

This. Make sure you are taking your reading (ie weighing in) at the same time to get as comparable reading as possible. If you are consistantly drinking all your water and generally following your caloric plan, weighing in first thing in the moning is probably best as you should be a consistent level of hydration as you…

Are you listing %? 80-90 bpm seems awfully low for a hour and half run. You must be in tremendous shape or on beta blockers! 80-90% of max seems more likely.

Done! Just added Don't Slow Down... Not only great tempo wise, but also words to live by on a run!

I was just thinking about this post from a few days ago and was going to search for it... And BAM! Here it is. Definitely going to make soon.

Polar RS100 and love it. I hate running without it now.
-
Just make sure you got everything (rocks and bits of debris) out. While it hurts to clean it now, it will hurt much worse if they have to abrade it later to fully clean the area...

I started with a really cheap one I bought at the grocery store in the kitchen gadgets aisle for $6. I have since upgraded to a digital scale I picked up at Bed Bath and Beyond for about $25. The cheap spring model worked but the digital is so much easier with autmatic tare (weight of the dish you are placing food in)…

I love this stuff too!

Since finally being properly fitted for running shoes about 10 years ago, I stick with New Balance (currently 940's). Plenty of stability for my pronating and as far as I know the only running shoes that come in widths (I have wide feet).

It could definitely be the shoes. How did you select the Nikes you are currently running in? When I started running I started developing pain along the inner portion of my knees and assumed it was just part of "getting old" and just soldiered through. I was wearing Nikes at the time as well. I eventually went to a running…

I ran 15-20 miles a week all summer and as the fall weather started acting up I went for a few runs on the treadmill at the gym and my calves starting cramping up. Turns out my shoes (while still looking ok) had lost their cushioning and was leading to the cramps. Went to the running store, had my gait analyzed on the…

I have the Polar RS100 as well and you can make the beeping stop. Just turn off limits when you are not worried about staying in the "zone" as follows. Settings->Limits->Off. It will still track you heart rate high/low/average, calculate calories and fat% the same as when you are using OwnZone/Age/Manual limits. It will…

Check out their website. It may be better than McDonald's but their nutrition information looks pretty fast food to me (though they do have same decent options). What they list as "guiltless" entrees run from 467 to 748 in calories and from 8 - 17 grams of fat. Sodium content is pretty high as well. It all depends on what…

I use the endomondo app and it has a setting for running under the lock screen. Check and see if imapmyrun has something similar. If not, get endomondo! Its great and the online tracking with split times, maps, etc... is excellent.

Polar RS100... It was on sale under $100 and I had heard good things about Polar. Plus it works with all the major cardio equipment machines.

I love endomondo...

Its one of 2 things. First, they assume you burn an additional 10 calories engaging in the second classic "leggo my Eggo" tussle because you keep your heart rate elavated longer. Or its the thermic effect of bullsh!+!

Having been a member at both here in Chicago, I can only go by my own experience. The private gym had better/more equipment (hammer strength vs nautilus, more free weights etc...). From a cardio standpoint, the gym had all the same equipment treadmills, elliptical, recumbant and spin bikes, just more. My Y is one of the…

This is exactly what I do when I feel winded or my HRM shows my heart rate getting too high. I focus on breathing in deeply through my nose (3 count too) and exhale through my mouth for a three count. No scientific data by it seems to work for at least two of us.

Also, head the advice earlier and make sure you have enough room. You need to be 6-10 feet from the sensor/your tv. Here is a good article by someone tyring it in a small apartment. I need to move my couch a bit, but then it works great. It is a lot of fun! http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-20021679-1.html

I like mine with sauteed onion, green and red pepper and diced (fresh) jalepeno's with a little reduced fat shredded cheddar. Actually had this for breakfast this morning.
