I was simply counting my calories here, but then had a lapse. As of Sunday, I am now trying the Dukan diet and enjoying it so far. The key is to get creative with your meals in the initial attack phase (which only lasts approx. 5 - 7 days). After about day 3, you start to notice that you don't really crave carbs or sugar…

Thanks for this post, Brian. I am doing some research into juicing and the information in your post was very helpful. I actually ordered a juicer today. Haven't decided yet whether to actually do an actual fast, but the nutritional benefits make sense to me. Especially, since I tend not to get in all the fruits and veggies…

I am so, so proud of you!!! It may still be tough for awhile, but I know you can do it! One day you will look back and wonder, like I do, how you could ever have smoked! From someone who smoked for 35 years, and has been quit for 3, just remember....not one puff! Ever! You may get to a point where you feel you can smoke…

Just happened to see this post! And so glad I did. I LOVE the Leslie Sansone dvds. I have a very old one - Walk at Home - Walk Away Your Waistline, and it has been a lifesaver for me! I have been sedentary for so long that I am really out of shape, but I was able to do the Walk at Home. I haven't been able to get past the…

I'm definitely not an expert, so I hesitate to give advice. I do want to congratulate you, however, on your 12 lb. weight loss! That is a huge loss in just 30 days! From what I've read on MFP, be sure you don't eat too little, or eventually your weight loss may stall, and you could end up burning lean muscle instead of…

Wow! That's amazing! I'm not sure I could half of that!

Starting Weight: 182.8 February Goal weight: 177.0 I'm easing into exercise slowly, but I'm trying to walk every day.

I'd like to be in this challenge, too! Will post my stats tomorrow! Can't wait!

These sound great! I may be missing something....but how much water is added?
-
This looks great! I'm on it! :)

This is great! But I looked at my bowl and it seemed like a lot of food...until I realized I accidentally made it with 1 cup of cottage cheese instead of 1/2 Cup. Used the same amount of all the other ingredients and it was still very yummy!!! Thanks!

Drinking water is something I struggle with, also. I rarely even feel thirsty! But I've been making a real effort to get as much as possible into my day. I really like the Mio because it's 0 calories, convenient to take with me, and the flavor makes the water much more tolerable. And I'm glad I'm not the only one running…

Great point!

Hi! Looks like you're almost exactly on the same path as I am! Have been back on MFP for about two weeks and am also down 6 lbs. Maybe we can motivate each other! Susan

Hi! After a long time away, I am back to MFP again. I just started on January 4th, so I feel like I'm new, too! The support and motivation that comes from having friends along with you on this journey with you is definitely a plus! So, welcome! This is a great site, and feel free to "friend" me!
-
I've made this before and it is really yummy! And so easy!
-
Welcome to MFP! This is an awesome site with lots of great support! I think you'll love it here! Feel free to "friend" me if you need some extra support!

After 35 years of smoking at least 2 packs per day, I knew I had to quit before it was too late. It actually took me about 10 years of failed attempts. I tried nicotine patches, hypnosis - twice, wellbutrin, quit smoking "classes", and chantix - 5 times. Yeah. My younger brother was diagnosed with emphysema when he was 40…

Just read "The Help" on my kindle. Great book!

Boy do I feel dumb! lol. Thanks!
-
Today was my first day and it almost killed me. But, I'm 53 and VERY out of shape! Not to mention that I have mild emphysema. So I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to do it all the way through without stopping, but time will tell.
-
Okay...and, at the risk of sounding dumb...what is HRM? And I see all these people that have it listed on their profile "20 minutes of exercise, including 30 Day Shred". Do I just plug "circuit training" into "cardio exercise"?

Thanks everyone for all your replies! I think I'll compromise. I'll count my decaffeinated coffee as water....but not on MFP water meter...and keep working toward trying to get down 8 glasses a day. But I am sure glad to know that I don't have to add a glass of water for every cup I drink! I would definitely float away!!!…
