I think I am acting impulsively when the fast ends. I need to be more focused. I have a weak spot for some carbs and I also don't seem to be able to forego diet soda.

Hey, how is everyone? I'm battling weight issues. I have dropped almost 40 pounds, have another 60 to go. Seem to have hit a plateau. Hate that and it's very discouraging. Think this group might be helpful to keep me focused and on track. I'm also using a gym 3-5 days a week as well as dieting (keeping calories in the…

You can do it! It isn't easy, so I won't sugar coat it, but if you focus and keep your goal and reasons in mind, you can skip the junk calories and keep your calorie count low. Also, work out some. Simply walk a bit, or use a bike or an elliptical at a local gym (my insurance supplement includes Silver Sneakers which gives…

We have them at work, as an incentive to be more active. They do encourage you to be active (but so do the much less expensive apps that you can load on your android or apple phones). One thing that bothers me a little is that 4 of the 60 that wee purchased have already died. Covered by warranty at this point (only a few…

I'm in the same position. I need to lose more than 25 pounds, though -- closer to 70. My cardiologist gave me a challenge and I have to lose weight and increase my endurance by the next checkup (in 4 months) or else. He is good, but very stern. Anyway, if you don't mind having a guy exercise buddy, send me a friend request.

I wish I had the right answer for you because I have trouble resisting nibbling in the evening. Hunger doesn't seem to play a role. I think I eat because it is comforting. I have found, though, if I stay busy (cleaning house, doing yard work, etc.) I am much less likely to make a trip to the kitchen. Plus I sleep better…

That is great advice! Thank you for the post and encouragement to "keep on keepin' on!" I have days that I do great and then days that I really blow out of the water...then the guilt, then the cycle tends to repeat. I need to work on being consistently "good" and focus on the positives that come from that.

I totally gave up cereal. Instant oatmeal is good -- especially the flavored varieties. Also steel cut oatmeal is more filling and still only 150 calories for one serving (unless you add fruit/sugar/etc. to it). I find protein sticks with me a long time. Boiled egg is great. Scrambled egg is also good.

I walk during lunch and eat a very light lunch. Sugar free chewing gum is helpful as is lots of water. Stay occupied. I have found that boredom is one of my enemies -- I always want to eat when bored.

How are you? Any updates on the ankle pain? Hope you have completely healed.

Happy to have you as a friend!

Thank you for sharing your success! It is encouraging to see others who are succeeding. I'm back on the diet after a bad couple months (my dad died and there are all kinds of family issues to deal with now). Anyway, congratulations and I hope to see more pics as you continue to succeed.

BOTH! Two daughters: One went to OSU, the other to OU. Now, the one who graduated from OSU with two degrees is in OU Law School....so, perhaps I am a bit more crimson than orange...but I root for both!

I would be happy to have you as my friend. Please invite me. Let's get this done!

Welcome back! MFP has helped me to be honest with myself. Otherwise, I just con't total up the calories and mess up big time. I have several friends who help me, as well. Be sure to let them view your food diary as that helps keep you honest and accountable. You may certainly add me as a friend...I would be honored to go…

Welcome! We wish you total success. Take it one day at a time and you will reach your goal. Don't be discouraged when little slips occur. Just get back on track as soon as you can. Let us know if you have questions.

I usually weigh twice a week.... I know, however, how I'm doing from the "fit" of my clothes.

I am neither, though I think the Cowboys are my favorite of the two. I like their coach as well as their spirit. One daughter went to OSU, the other to OU, and now the first is at OU Law School...so I have split ties.

Love it! It is a struggle but, like most things in life, good things take hard work and diligence. Wish you the very best!

Wish I had stayed focused, but I didn't and I gained almost ten pounds back! Hate that!

Hello! Yes, it can help and it has helped me! Being aware of the calories of foods we often eat without a thought helps me steer clear of them and that has helped me to lose some of my weight -- more to go (almost 60 lbs left to take off), but I will get there! Glad you are here.

Welcome! The program is helpful to me as it makes me aware of snacking and the damage it does to me. I've lost 30 lbs so far and have more to lose. At 59 years of age, I realize that I don't have the energy of a younger person and this helps to keep me motivated to push myself and do more. Good luck in your journey.

I'm from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. We are hard-working, industrious people who aren't far removed from the old west.

I REALLY hope the worst is behind us! They are frightening and they do a lot of damage. Many people don't have earthquake insurance, either, so they have to absorb losses which they cannot afford.

I found that there are specific weaknesses -- icecream, potato chips (not dips, but chips are a weakness), certain candies -- those are things I try to stay clear of. Don't buy them and keep them around, as I cannot eat what isn't there! Giving up desserts ENTIRELY isn't difficult...you just say "No" whenever they are…

I laughed and laughed. Thanks for the chuckle!

I agree - not all doctors are careful in evaluating/examining an injury. I would recommend seeing a dr. right away before you do more permanent damage.
