Hi People! I've been MIA on MFP (for the most part) since the start of the pandemic. I had been maintaining my VERY happy weight for over 3 yrs when the pandemic hit. Since that time, I steadily gained over 30 lbs. Drinking every damned day, calories out plummeted, calories in went WAY up. You know the drill. I've since…

Thanks @martina28 - Good luck to you as well!

You've received some good advice about calories. I just popped in to say, as a mother of twins myself, you have my respect! And you've got a 3 year old as well. Oy! Be kind to yourself, take care of yourself, and best of luck! <3

BOOO! That sux. Especially when you are already working hard!

Congratulations on your weight loss! That's great that you're not finding it too difficult. And it sure is nice not having a period! I can relate on a symptom level. And although I was already in maintenance going through menopause... I gained a few of the vanity pounds I had lost (like 3-5 to the top end of where…

Congratulations on reaching your goal!

sugar and flour, maybe?

Agree with the above. Concentrate on the nice in people. And ignore those d-bags! Good on you for getting on that bike!

Interesting question. I've been using my FitBit for over 3 years now. Since I started wearing it, I've been using the TDEE method for weight loss and maintenance. During my weight loss phase, my calories burned estimates were close enough, based on my rate of loss. I say close enough, because while I log pretty accurately,…

In for the food porn! B) <3 Seriously - between this and the volume eaters thread, I've been awakened to a whole new world of veggie goodness.

See, now this is why I don't do housework. ;) I hope you feel better soon!

fitnessblender.com has some great workouts.

I think it's bad form to quote my own post... But I'm wondering if anybody knows if it's "odd" for my TSH to be so low along with my Free T4 being in the lower end of normal? I realize this is not a medical site, but I know there are some knowledgeable folks on these forums. Just wondering if anybody has some insight. :)

I hear you on the "inner tube" thing! I've never had a small waist. But since I had a twin pregnancy at an "advanced maternal age" (kind of slid right from postpartum into perimenopause - good times!)..... no matter how light I get, I carry my special kangaroo pouch around with me! I try to view it as a badge of…

Thanks Ruth! It is interesting how we all carry our weight differently. I sometimes wonder if since I'm not "well endowed" up top, I need a lower body weight to account for that compared to other women who may be more well endowed. I also wear a larger clothing size (jeans, anyway) than most women report who have my stats…

I stopped taking the levothyroxine on July 7, so I've been off of it for 2 months. These are my labs. EDIT: I was hyperthyroid (Graves disease) for several years (late 90s to mid 2000s) then in remission (normal levels, no meds) until last fall.
-
Thank you for your reply. Actually, my thyroid levels are in the normal range. That's why he took me off of the medication, and also why he's not that concerned about my weight "issues", as I'm actually within a normal BMI. From his standpoint, it's not a medical issue.
-
@nutmegoreo - that makes sense. Thanks again everyone for all of your input!

Well, I was getting a bit soft & squishy for my liking, as I had let the weights slide for a long time. I started back up again and I do like the tightening and definition I'm starting to see again. I don't hate the way I look in the mirror, but the majority of my jeans don't fit. It's part vanity, part wanting my clothes…

Wow. You're good! :) Thank you so much for detailing all of this. Yes - that major spike in early August was the post-vacation weigh in. In April to May, I was so incredibly frustrated that in fact I only weighed in once a week during that time, instead of daily. So I have data, just weekly not daily. (And I always record…

I don't sync my FitBit with MFP, or manually add any exercise in. I strictly use the FitBit app to record my calories-in, and let the FitBit do it's thing. So I base my daily deficit off of my TDEE. But it seems that now my FitBit is not accurately estimating my calories, so this is the issue. It seems I need go back to…

Thanks for the calculation info! I remembered seeing that before, but couldn't find the reference. And dayum, that is depressing about the walking calories. ;) I think I will try as you suggest for a few months and see how it goes. I obviously can't trust the FitBit anymore anyway...
-
Yeah, I get that. Well this is sad. I've been approaching this from the TDEE perspective for so long, based on my FitBit data. And it worked, up until it didn't (starting 1 year ago). So if I use the MFP setup approach and plug in my stats, I get 1290 calories as a baseline (choosing lightly active, and .5 lb week loss). I…

I'm willing to entertain the idea that my FitBit estimations are off. Can you explain what you mean by changes is my physicality? Are you meaning changes in my activity level?
-
Thank you! And glad you're feeling better. :) Bodies. WTF.

Yes, I'm seeing an endocrinologist for my thyroid. I was on medication, but he has taken me off since my thyroid swung toward the normal-to-hyper levels. So now I'm not on any thyroid medication. I requested a RMR test, but he said he has no idea where to get one of those done. He also does not see it as an issue, since…

Exactly. Which is the nature of my question. I understand caloric burns are only estimates. I use a FitBit Blaze with a HRM, and base my estimates off of that. I was able to successfully lose the weight I wanted to and then maintain comfortably for over a year using these estimates. I would argue my logging is more…
