I'm back!
Well here I am. Back after a lengthy hiatus. I had been maintaining my happy weight for 3.5 years. And then? The Pandemic hit. The Pandemic has not been kind to my weight, what with the lockdowns, working from home at a stressful job, political strife and social unrest, remote schooling, comfort eating, lack of activity,…

Yay for Menopause
I'm 54 years old. I'm solidly in perimenopause. I've been 11 months without a period - so, 1 month away from official, full-on menopause. (Interestingly, my 12 year old twins just started menses last month. But I digress! :) ) I've been lamenting the fading of youth: the feeling of being invisible.... of hating my fuller…

Advice Please - Hormones, Aging & Weight, Oh My! (warning - long post)
I've been tracking my weight for over 3 years now. Since I started using my FitBit, I was able to lose the weight I wanted to lose, and maintain comfortably up until about this time last year. I weigh and track my food using the FitBit app and just recently hooked into the trendweight app. I have 3 years worth of data.…

Untreated Hypothyroidism
Is it possible to lose weight with untreated hypothyroidism? I understand this is not a medical community, but I know there are several women on this board with thyroid issues who have successfully lost weight. For those people, were you able to lose weight while the hypothyroidism was untreated? Or only after it was…

Newbie gains
So, just out of curiosity... in terms of muscle in pounds... how much can a newbie female gain per month when lifting? I hear that muscle building is extremely slow for women, with the exception of some newbie gains. I'd like a frame of reference. Are we talking a pound a year? A pound every six months?

Can anyone recommend a good blender?
Mine is old and crappy, so I'm looking to buy a new blender. Is there a good one for making protein fluff and protein ice cream?

Any women with diastasis recti who strength train?
Hi. I've never been diagnosed, but the more I read I suspect I may have diastasis recti. I'm 10 years postpartum. Had twins @ 42, and gained 60 lbs during pregnancy. I'm only 5'2, so my belly was HUGE. Post pregnancy, no matter how thin I get, I always look about 4 months pregnant. (Got this little round belly poking out).…

Confused about maintenance, muscle, and recomp
Hi all. I've been reading a bit about recomp, and think it's something I'd like to do. But I'm confused as to how to go about it. My stats: - 52 yo female - 5'2" - maintaining, 112-115 lbs I dropped 20+ pounds over the last year. My main form of activity is walking. I'm fairly satisfied with my current weight. However, I…

Stalled - How long should I wait before switching things up?
I've been back using MFP for about 2 months now. I was averaging about 1 lb per week loss for the first few weeks. However, it appears that I've been losing and gaining the same 1-2 lbs for the past 4 weeks. Overall, I'm down ~5lbs from my starting weight. I'm OK with 1/2 lb. a week loss (which is what it averages out to…

It's Working - Thank You!
I've used MFP for years. Lost weight, maintained for a few years, then 10 lbs. crept back on as I slacked off. I'm 51, so I assumed it was fated for weight loss (and even maintenance) to be more difficult, if not impossible now. I was one who wondered why I couldn't lose weight, thinking I'm doing everything right. I had…
