  • Excellent advice.
  • I used a ploar HRM for several years and just got a fitbit. They are fun and interesting but just confirm what I already knew. The MFP estimates tend to be pretty close to what I measure. The on thing they can do is push you to work to achieve whatever goals you might have.
  • I do it too. I find I stay on my plan better when it is all mapped out in advance. On work days I take all of my food for the day with me, so logging ahead of time is easy. As long as I only eat what I bring, I am within calorie budget.
  • I just put my own scale away . I paln to bring it out once every month or two. It is too easy to get caught up in the number even when everything else is going well. I plan to follow my eating plan and see how my clothes fit.
  • I lost 50 pounds with WW. It is a good program, especially for those new to weight loss or those fond of a more structured program. I sometimes do a little better if I know that someone else is going to look at the scale and write it down each week. The group setting can also be helpful. They do a little cheerleading along…
  • I just feel better, have fewer cravings and seem to have more energy when I avoid the highly processed and "junk" foods. It very well may be all in my head, but it seems to work for me. I also like that I tend to eat fewer calorie dense foods and get more volume for my calories when I eat "cleaner".
  • This. Unless you have been diagnosed with a deficiency or have a medical condition requiring supplementation.
  • Mindless eating. I can rack up way too many calories without realizing it or even feeling full. Having a little bit here and there really adds up. Keeping a food diary and making a plan is the best way for me to avoid extra calories and weight gain. I even feel better and have more energy when I eat the right portions of…
  • The nurse in me says this is your answer. She is lucky to have someone who cares so much. It also sounds like she needs to eat more for being so active.
  • I exercise every morning at 0530. I do not eat first. I have tried and it always makes me nauseated. Some people do just fine eating before working out. I think you really just have do do what works for you. I have plenty of energy and do just fine. Yes, I know my opinion will not be very popular and I am OK with that.
  • It all depends on what works for you. I prefer to avoid snacks because I seem to end up hungrier when I eat more often and I am much less satisfied. Some people do better eating more frequently. All that matters if it works for you and you are meeting your calorie goals for the day. I also agree that most trainers have no…

  • This is totaly true. Once the skin has been stretched to a certain point there is no going back no matter how much fat you lose without surgery.
  • http://www.acaloriecounter.com/blog/why-am-i-not-losing-weight/ Excellent article. Thank you for sharing. Nobody wants to hear that they are eating too much. It is easier to believe that you are eating the wrong foods at the wrong time or in the wrong combination. That way it isn't your fault. I know for sure that if I am…
  • In theory you could eat all of your calories in peanut butter and lose weight as long as you maintain a calorie deficit. Not a nutritionally sound choice, but you could lose.
  • I have made some very good friends at the gym. We enjoy encouraging each other and working out together. Many days I drag myself out of bed for a 0530 class because someone is expecting me.
  • I would like to join. It will be a great way to get back on track.
  • I was the fatty in class. It is hard. I stuck it out and now I am one of the fitter people in classes. I am so glad I stayed. I get a wonderful sense of accomplishment each time I try something new at the gym and do better than I thought I could. I will never be the fittest, but that is fine. Whenever I see new people I…
  • Roasted with a little olive oil and salt and pepper or grilled tie for best for me. Steamed is good too. It is one of my favorites cooked almost any way.
  • First name is #420. I expected a higher number. My name is not that popular. Last (married) #76 Maiden #42
  • I eat pretty clean and have no trouble getting to my calorie limit. I usually seem to get there too fast.
  • I am turning 45 in August. I am not on any meds but I find that if I eat pretty clean and exercise I do pretty well. I have been maintaining a 45 pound weight loss for 5 years.I won't tell you it is easy, but it can be done.

  • I am a nurse and work 12 hour shifts. I workout before work and bring 3 meals a day with me so I can avoid the cafeteria and not go hungry. We have a fridge and a microwave. I limit myself to eating only what I bring no matter what others bring in to share.
  • I always plan a snack for the evenings within my cal. goal and macros.
  • Great job! I used to have a pair of shorts from my highest weight, but got rid of them. I wish I had kept something because there is nothing better to make you realize how far you have come.
  • I was curious about the comparison for a while and logged on both MFP and WW. I found that if I stayed at my points target I was almost exactly at my calorie goal on MFP. It was never off by much, always less than 50 cal. Of course that does not figure in any of the weekly points WW gives you because I rarely used them. I…
  • I still have my Atari and my Commodore 64.
  • I lost about 45 pounds with WW. I am a lifetime member. I have used both and currently enjoy MFP more. The meetings are really good at WW for some people along with the weigh in keeping you honest. They both work if you follow the plan. I think WW is best for those new to weight loss. After you maintain a while it gets old.
  • You are amazing, congratulations! Your dog is adorable, too.
  • Flat Out flatbreads/wraps have a grainy texture that feels like there is sand in the dough to me. I can't stand kettle corn. I like popcorn and I like caramel corn, but kettle corn is just bad.
  • My husband is always surprised by how much I can squat. I set a goal of 100% of my BW. I reached and exceeded that quickly. I really focus on upper body I need it more. I love the people who look so surprised when the little lady is lifting the big weights with the guys. Even better is the look I get from other ladies…
