^^ This. Trainers seem to have this idea that they are gurus on nutrition, when most often they're just passing on broscience.0

I think that's ridiculous. Trainer, not dietician. Even a dietician shouldn't tell you to not eat snacks. Eat your calories in the way that works best for you.0

I would ignore him. I don't see any reason to not be able to snack or split your meals up as you want them whether that's 1 huge meal, 3 meals or even 6 mini meals a day, eat the number of meals/snacks that works for you but just log and record your calories correctly and stick to your calorie goal. Saying that all forms of snacking are banned, even CARROTS which have such low cals even for a huge portions, seems an odd rule to impose.0

I think you should not be taking dietary advice from your trainer, because that's not his job. Also, most trainers out there that have no clue when it comes to nutrition, they just regurgitate the same nonsense that's been passed around for years. And a bunch of them aren't even good at training.
Most trainers study for 6-8 weeks, pay $600, and take a test. A Dietitian for Nutritionists has to have a Bachelors Degree in said field. I'd ask for your PT credentials before following that advice.0 -
I'm a 6 meal per day person, so no snacks? NO WAY. I would be so hangry! Some people can do strict 3 meals, but I"m not one of them.0

I think you need to find a new trainer0

It doesn't make any difference how you split your food - what matters in the overall calories. You could eat 6 small meals or 2 massive meals - whatever works for you. Most people like to eat every 3 hours at least, as it keeps you from becoming so ravenous they you will literally stuff your face at the next meal time.0 -
It all depends on what works for you. I prefer to avoid snacks because I seem to end up hungrier when I eat more often and I am much less satisfied. Some people do better eating more frequently. All that matters if it works for you and you are meeting your calorie goals for the day. I also agree that most trainers have no business recommending diets to clients.0

Yup. Look... if he's this binary in his thinking, you better believe that train of thought doesn't stop at nutrition. He's not right for you. I make part of my living working with gym management to help educate their staff of trainers. Guys like this... they're commonplace. And you deserve better since you're paying good money.0 -

It doesn't matter how many times per day you eat to reach 1500 calories. And, for the most part, the foods you eat aren't a big deal either as long as your hitting your macro goals (carbs/protein/fats) and staying at or under your 1500 calories, if fat loss is your goal.0
