In college I was about 110. At almost 5'8", that is way too thin. But I wasn't dieting to get there. I was just so lucky in that I could eat anything and it did not matter! Boy has that changed!! I started in January at 176, the highest I have ever weighed. Now I am at 151. My goal is 140. Ultimately I'd love to get down…

My coworker said something at about 10 pounds, I think. But *I* didn't start to see it until closer to 20. My goal is to lose 36 total - so 10 pounds was a somewhat significant amount, I guess.

I weigh every day. But I only log it on MPF when it is lower than my previous log. I don't log those 2 or 3 pounds that I see going up and down and up and down every day, which usually lasts for about two weeks. Then after about two weeks of the up and down, I will see a new lower number, usually around a 2 pound loss.…

Tennessee, United States. (Although I'm a northerner at heart! - from Ohio) Been low carb since January 2018 and have lost 24 pounds. :)

I'm on BC (nuvaring) but still got spotting early on. :/

For me it was Dr. Jason Fun and his book "The Obesity Code" that opened my eyes. I still have a difficult time buying full fat things like sour cream when I've been buying "light" for sooooo long, but I have lost 22 pounds, so it works!

I'm guessing someone has said this, but I didn't see it upon skimming. Your avocado isn't as high in carbs as you think. To paraphrase Dr. Fung - carbs are the poison, but the fiber is the antidote. You deduct the fiber from the carbs to get your net carbs. An avocado that has 12g of carbs, also has 9g of fiber. So your…

I've been doing 18:6 with my eating window at noon to 6pm. When fasting I have nothing but flavored water (like La Croix) and unsweet green tea. No artificial sweeteners of any kind, as Dr. Fung says they can cause an insulin response. I break my fast with a LCHF lunch. :)

I'm new to this forum. I've been on this journey (this time around) since January 2018. (I got to my happy weight in 2011 but spent the next 5 to 6 years gaining in back. It gets harder the older I get, of course. I'm 38.) I started this time around with calorie restriction, but then I read The Obesity Code in Feb and have…

Boar's Head Everroast chicken from the deli counter is THE best thing EVER! I eat it ALL THE TIME. Seriously. Try it. Soooooo delicious!

Thanks! I just finished The Obesity Code and have been looking for my next read. I'll check it out on audible today!

I've been using these and they seem to work well! https://www.amazon.com/Urinalysis-Accurate-Guarantee-Ketogenic-Diabetic/dp/B075ZMQZQY/ref=lp_3762041_1_7_s_it?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1522780173&sr=1-7

Hello!! I'll be 39 next month, so I guess I belong here. :) I've lost 22 pounds this year and have 14 to go to be at my happy weight. I hope to get there before swimsuit season is in full swing! But it's supposed to be 77 in Nashville tomorrow, so it might be here before I know it!

I'm about to turn 39 - can I join the party? I got down to my ideal weight with MFP 7 years ago, and slowly gained it all back. Now I'm trying again and at 39, it's a lot more difficult!

Congratulations!!! Don't worry about all the haters. I'm guessing 99% (maybe 100%) of them have never read any of Dr. Fung's books (or listened to his podcasts), which means their opinions are worthless. I have read The Obesity Code and I'm a believer. The science IS there and well cited in the book (and all studies used…

Check out some of the Intermittent Fasting groups on here. They will be able to talk to you about the science behind it without the snarky comments. ;) Also, check out https://www.amazon.com/Complete-Guide-Fasting-Intermittent-Alternate-Day/dp/1628600012 . I just finished his book called The Obesity Code and it has changed…

Thank you! I appreciate the feedback. I think you are likely correct, being that I'm now 14 pounds down on the scale but my clothes do not fit any differently.
-
I'm not. I'm reading the book and judging for myself. I'm just not going to get into a debate about it at least until I've finished the book, and even then I'm not going to debate it with someone who has not read the book. That would be a royal waste of time.

No worries, I knew someone would say that. Every doctor is a god to someone and a quack to someone else.

I am reading The Obesity Code: Unlocking the Secrets of Weight Loss by Dr. Jason Fung and it is explaining a lot!! I'm only on chapter 5 but I have a much better understanding of what is going on now. Should you agree with his science, the "calories in, calories out" that everyone on MFP lives by is simply not true. Very…

Haha! Well if we have fairies in my pretend land, can we please just have a magic weightloss fairy that can make us all skinny overnight? ;)
-
I'm sorry. I'm getting snarky. I'm having a really bad day today and this whole weight thing isn't helping. I'm sorry for being rude, Jason.
-
THAT IS MY POINT EXACTLY!!!! But I AM logging everything, and as we have discussed AD NAUSEAM I weigh all meat and some produce, others selecting from the mfp database as best as I can (such as "large banana"). There are NO meals missing except dinner on January 27, 2018 which was my husband's birthday and I decided not to…

Did I fail to mention that I bought a size 8 dress for a wedding that I am in at the end of April? It's non-returnable, so it HAS to fit. *Where is the "beating myself in the head" emoticon?*
-
LOL! Well I'm glad I'm not the only one!!!
-
Wait... from this youtube discussion, I've learned that "woo" is bad? So if someone clicks the reaction "woo" that means they don't believe you? I think I've clicked it a time or two thinking it was like "Woooooo!!!! GO YOU!!!!" OOPS!
-
I don't take it that way, thank you for taking the time to help me talk this out!! :) So how do I know? Because it's ONE banana, HALF a bell pepper, or ONE zucchini. You can DOUBLE the calories I have supposedly so incorrectly listed for these items on the days that I ate them and I will STILL be right around 1200…
-
I appreciate this greatly, and I don't mind the tough love!! :) I've done this before - and I lost 25 pounds quite easily with zero exercise. I did the same things then that I'm doing now except: 1. Now I'm 7 years older, and 2. This time around I'm not eating Lean Cuisine and other crappy, prepackaged foods! I'm eating…

I agree. I actually did that in December and thyroid was normal. I had a bunch of bloodwork done as part of a checkup - only issue was low B12 but I've been on a supplement for a few months now.

Let's PRETEND that I weigh everything, even my La Croix :p , and I am eating exactly 1200 calories a day, each and every day. In pretend world, NOW what would you think the issue could be?
