  • So glad it's not just me who hates supper! My entire family says it and I cringe every time.
  • This happened to me as well. I get cold really easily and in the winter, I'm in a lot of layers. It does not get better, unfortunately, but it helps me to remember that the reason I am so cold is because I lost a lot of fat which is ultimately a better thing :)
  • Amy's brand is great and they also have a low-sodium line. Also, McDougall's and Imagine organic soups have a lot of low-sodium vegetarian options.
  • My workplace is like the place people bring stuff to get it away from home! November 1st, I'm sure our area will be flooded with people's kids candy and then the holiday baking will start soon. But I have learned not to even try anything because it will be hard not to overdo it. But I do allow myself a treat occasionally.…
  • Great film! I also watched "Fat Sick and Nearly Dead" which was eye opening as well.
  • Beans, nuts, peanut butter, tofu, and there is protein in vegetables that adds up if you eat a lot of them like I do. Also non-dairy yogurt and milk gives you some too.
  • Just give it time! I recently gave up caffeine and it took me about a week to feel "normal" again. :)
  • I love putting blueberries in my oatmeal with a little peanut butter ;-)
  • Good for you! I have wanted to do that for a while myself but I need to invest in a good juicer first. I recently watched "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead" and that inspired me too. Good luck :)
  • I think scrubbing counts as moderate. I log it because I don't do it every day ;-)
  • I heard another one like that today that goes something like this: "Stop comparing yourself to others. We are all originals." :)
  • I've been vegan almost two years (in October) and while I'm not totally versed on all the different types of protein and supplements and whatnot, I do know that I'm really healthy (as far as blood work goes and how I'm feeling) and that's likely because I eat a wide variety of foods. When I do use protein powder, I use…
  • I've never used one because the good ones are so expensive and the cheaper ones don't work as well. I have found the heart rate shown on most cardio machines to be erratic so I just go more by RPE (rate of perceived exertion) and I check my heart rate sometimes during workouts (on your neck or wrist) by counting for 10…
  • Horrible, horrible, horrible! I have experienced this in the past and then on the flip side when you do lose weight you have those people that tell you to stop because you have lost too much. Just learn to tune people's rude comments out, smile at yourself and realize what a sad person they must be. Hold that head up!
  • Too cute!
  • Non Scale Victory :)
  • I have a friend that was doing this exact same diet. I wanted to be sensitive because I know how much it hurts to want to lose weight and feeling like nothing else is really working, so you go to extremes. But I managed to find a way to tell her I was concerned about the low calories and the artificial hormone but admitted…
  • I gave up the scale a couple of months ago, best thing I ever did! Have noticed changes in muscle definition and my clothes are fitting better -- good enough for me!
  • Not necessarily! It could be that your calories being too low is causing your weight loss to stall. Good luck!
  • I can't speak specifically for Weight Watchers, but as far as eating more filling foods (aka Volume Eating), yeah I would think that would work. If you think about how many veggies you can eat for 100 calories and then think about that same number of calories in terms of processed foods, it's unbelievable how much more…
  • I was going to suggest coconut water too, it's awesome :)
  • My favorite thing to use is this powder from Whole Foods, they sell it in the vitamins area, but it's like 30-something cents per packet and you just add it to water. It's lemon lime flavor I believe. Here is a pic: http://karins.typepad.com/.a/6a012877a79fb2970c014e8800c874970d-800wi
  • I like Amy's frozen foods, they are more expensive but I believe they are healthier (overall, not just calories but total nutrition and ingredients) and taste much better too :)
  • From "Peas and Thank You" Black Bean Burgers 1 can black beans, drained and rinsed 1/3 c. red onion, minced 1/2 c. mushrooms, chopped 1/2 c. oats, ground to a coarse texture 1/2 t. salt 2 t. cumin 1 T. vegan Worcestershire sauce 1 1/2 t. minced garlic Mash the beans in a bowl with a fork until they made a nice chunky…
  • I would increase your longest run by 1 mile each week. So if you can run 2 this week, do 3 next week, 4 the week after, and so on. I usually try to do a couple of shorter runs during the week and then a "long" one on Saturdays. Whatever works for you :)
  • I would definitely say exercise and why is your calorie limit only 1200?
  • I completely agree with this! According to whatever "standards" I "should" weigh about 10 lbs less than I do right now for my height but I have decided to stop worrying about it and enjoy life because I used to weigh 70 lbs more than I do right now! I feel and look the best I ever have and yes I'm not perfect and there is…
  • I'm vegan too!
  • I can only speak to the HDL because I have a problem keeping mine up as well. Hopefully over time yours will get higher but mine has bounced between 35 and 50 for the past few years. When I'm really intentional about putting flax seed and wheat germ in my oatmeal or smoothies, I noticed it stays on the higher end. Exercise…
