Welcome! Bone loss can be offset through weightlifting. Studies have shown that even geriatric women who started lifting showed remarkable improvement in bone density.

Agreed with the posture comment. It's also possible that the spine itself is not being as compressed as it was before by the bodyfat which you've dropped. Astronauts in space are taller than on Earth for this very reason, the spine not having to deal with holding up their weight.

The major downfall of strength training is the tendency to tighten up muscles into just the range of motion used during the lift, but little more. Wise lifters take the time to work on flexibility as well, not just for quality of life, but it also can help with the lifting itself, allowing for greater range of motion as…

Welcome back! Tied into your weight-plate routine, you can keep a large water jug near your home scale. Every time you lose weight, add a corresponding amount of water to the jug. (Make sure the jug is sealed, so evaporation and animals don't help themselves to the loss-water!) Now even on days you don't lose and feel…

Yesterday was week 3 of my bench press triplet protocol, where I started doing 10 triples at 60% of 1RM and every week add 5lb. Any week I fail to complete all 10 triples, the following week will have fewer triples to perform. Repeat until I am down to a single triple, then recalculate 1RM and see if it's changed.…

Welcome to the thread, @drv123! Question about the workouts you posted. In both situations you performed the large multi-joint compound exercise (squat, bench press) AFTER the single-joint isolation exercises. Conventional wisdom is to perform the heaviest, most technically-demanding exercises early, while your muscles are…

Welcome! I dunno about getting back into the shape I was in at age 26...I was borderline obese, zero energy and motivation. I much prefer the way I am now at 46, I've swapped 50# of fat for 35# of muscle, I'm stronger than at any time in my life (my gym results prove this), eagerly awake each morning to face the day.
