Large Rib Cage?
I've seen a few posts this week of people complaining about having a larger than average rib cage! I thought I saw most of what comes through here but I don't recall seeing that one before. I didn't know this was a thing. How do you even know if you have this? Maybe that's a problem I have and never thought to complain…

Mental Tips - 5K?
What are your mental tips for getting through a 5K? I've walked them before but Sunday will be my first time trying to run the whole thing. I'm close, but haven't quite gotten there, in my practices (2x week). So I can't tell myself, "You've done this before" because I haven't. I don't want the voices in my head to get in…

Hydro tank vs DEXA scan for BF testing
What are the benefits of getting body fat tested in a hydro tank vs DEXA scan? Does it make sense to do both? A mobile outfit is coming near me and they offer a DEXA scan as a add on to the hydro tank for a lower fee than getting one done alone. Just wondering if I'd get more info or something with the DEXA add on? I've…

I Came in Last!
In 10 days, I will be participating for the 3rd year in a row in the Seattle Alki Beach 5K to support breast cancer. In 2014 I walked, had severe shin splints the first 1.5 miles, and came in last of about 1500 people, 1 hour 20 minutes. I weighed about 275. In 2015 I walked in 45 min, running the last 6 min. I had just…

Workout splits
What is the purpose of leg day, arm day, abs day? Why not just do a full body workout each time?

Body fat vs muscle vs other stuff
I've seen lots of info about ideal body fat % and understand the pros and cons of various measuring methods. Are there charts that show a comparison of the other numbers that go along with BF? For example, at 25% BF what is the ideal, or average, muscle %, and "all other" %? Thx.

BEWARE: Potentially Dangerous message
I just had a message pop up on my computer MFP website that said a friend had blocked me, click here to find out who. I thought it a bit odd because I thought MFP didn't tell you when someone blocks you. I clicked out of curiosity and got a bunch of warnings about a security threat & potential trojan virus with a phone #…

Running vs walking stride length
For those who run, I'm curious how your running stride compares to your walking stride length? My running stride is much shorter, evidenced by getting about 50% more steps when I run a route an when I walk it. I breezed thru c25k this spring and got my 30 min, even up to 40 a few times, but I still can't get to 5k. My…

Strong TV Show
What did you think of this show? I can't believe I haven't seen any discussion of it here. Super kudos to all the participants! But how did they do this in 10 weeks? How did these overweight out of shape women gain incredible strength, lose up to 37% BF, gain 10-15 lbs of muscle and train 3x a day, presumably every day or…

Looking for a boost in motivation?
Looking for a boost in motivation? Never forget where you started, how you felt then, and what you could (or couldn't) do. Yesterday I bounded up the porch steps with a few fairly heavy bags of groceries in each hand. Then it hit me, I couldn't do this 2 years ago, not really even 1 year ago. Back then, I carried one bag…

Video for fitness class?
Does anyone take a fitness class where a Beachbody or similar video is shown, rather than the instructor actually leading the class? The instructor circulates and assists individual students, which is great. It just seems weird to show a video for a paid class.

Map my run question
How do I get back to the main screen from here? "Slide to finish" does NOT work. It does nothing. Thx.

BB programs
Can someone explain in plain English, 1-2 sentences, the differences between all the Beachbody workout programs? The advertising muck just says they're all great workouts and don't give me any idea of what type of exercises you actually DO. Thanks. PLEASE-NO SOLICITATIONS!!

What if you lost inches, looked better, and felt better, but the scale weight was the same? Would that be a problem for you?

Please explain: HOW do you make it fit your calories?
Lots of people say you can eat any food you want as long as it fits within your calorie goal. I understand the concept but How, in reality, do you do this? Please be specific. For example: Potato chips & dip. If you eat 10 chips and a spoonful of dip, do you throw out the rest? A package of cinnamon rolls. You have one or…

Key to Success
Seen on FB today:"Everything you do is based on the choices you make. It's not your parents, your past relationships, your job, the economy, the weather, an argument, or your age that is to blame. You and only you are responsible for each and every decision and choice you make. Period."

Cheat or Treat?
I like to call them treats, not cheats. It's more positive, and they're usually pre-planned and controlled.
