Basic fitness band recs?
A friend who is recovering from heart issues is looking for a very basic fitness wrist band that will monitor HR and BP while she walks. (This was recommended by her PT). She has a Samsung Galaxy A10e phone. It needs to be budget friendly. Any recommendations? Thx!

Open water safety
It’s nearing the end of open water swim season for those of us in the northern hemisphere but nonetheless I need to share this. Recently a member of our swim group had an asthma attack in the middle of the lake. All turned out well but medics were called in and it was very scary. If you get even a little bit separated in…

Best hiking in Great Britain?
Hi, we are thinking about a trip to Great Britain. Where are the best areas for hiking, i.e. lots of 5-10 mile day hikes? Thanks for your input!

Kitchen layout and weight loss
Do you think the layout of your kitchen and home could help or hinder weight loss? For example, many people like open concept where the kitchen and living areas are combined, so the kitchen is always in full view. Does this tempt one to snack and graze more than in a home where the kitchen is “out of sight, out of mind”.…

From couch to triathlon
5 years ago I was 150 lbs overweight, I couldn't walk 1/4 mile and could barely make it up my own steep driveway. When I started working with a trainer, I couldn't do a wall squat and on-step step ups were a challenge. I have shared my story many times on here. Now the latest update: This past Sunday, a week before my 64th…

Birthday bike ride
I rode one of my favorite routes today. I couldn’t do that at 45 or 55 so maybe 65 isn’t so bad after all 🤣

Yoga is the new swimming!
I can’t swim but I do have a couple of live online yoga classes available to me. After trying them, I’ve decided to commit to these and hopefully they’ll give me some of the movement/flexibility benefits I appreciate from swimming. Of course, not cardio but there’s other ways to get that.

Strength training vs physio protocol?
Question. When strength training we are told not to train the same muscle group 2 days in a row to allow for proper recovery etc. But when getting physio you work the same muscles every day (in my case shoulder), the same exercises as you might do in a formal workout, and basically the same or greater volume for the…

Post- exercise recovery
I don't seem to be as limited in my ability to exercise as many with FM do, although i'm limited by own stamina & strength, both of which have greatly improved as I've been working out over the past year. But it seems that I can do more in my workouts than I can recover from. Meaning I'm totally exhausted and can hardly…

NWCR
Heads up, I received the annual survey from the Nat Weight Control Registry via email. Be on a lookout for yours if you’re enrolled. You can apply if you’ve lost 30 lbs and kept it off for 1 yr. It’s a voluntary research project. You don’t pay or get paid.

What was your surprise accomplishment in 2019?!
Which fitness accomplishment in 2019 surprised you a little bit, or a lot? For me it was cycling 1060 miles. Last Jan I had a grand total of 85 miles biking experience. I had many opportunities to ride this summer and loved every minute. Never expected to get over 1,000 mi this year! Looking forward to what next year holds

Filipino Macaroni Soup
Does anyone know about Filipino Macaroni Soup? My dad always made macaroni soup when we were kids. It was cooked macaroni sound in a lemon and egg broth. I always assumed it was Armenian (his heritage) but it's not. I found a similar soup of Filipino origin with a chicken broth base. This would "make sense" to me and I…
