WineGlass Marathon (and Half Marathon)
Who is running WineGlass next weekend? I know a few have mentioned it. I'll be running the marathon for the first time. I'm told it is a fast course and it looks like the weather is going to be cool. Who's in? Maybe do a meet and greet at the expo on Saturday?

Fat Loading Diet Prior to Carbo Loading for a Marathon
I am reading "The New Rules of Marathon and Half Marathon Nutrition” by Matt Fitzgerald and I am considering doing his high fat diet leading up to the carbo loading portion of my training. I am 100% anti-fad diet guru nonsense but... ;) This looks interesting to me. I am willing to give it one shot and see what happens. I…

Winter Running Shoe Hack
With the recent snow and temps below freezing for weeks, I decided to try something new. Instead of Yak Traks or similar I found a shoe hack. I'm going to give it a go on Tuesday morning. http://blog.timesunion.com/running/diy-screw-shoes/7106/ I may have overdone it just a little... :D

Insoles
Does anyone here use insoles that did not come with their shoes? Anyone have Superfeet insoles? I am murder on my insoles. I compress the front of my left shoe to the point where I my foot hurts and I start getting blisters. I manage to do this usually around 200 miles. I am growing tired of replacing my shoes so quickly…

Help Me Kick Cancer's *kitten*
So last January my (step)nephew was diagnosed with Stage 3 Burkitts Lymphoma. In August he died from it. As a tribute to him and to help raise money, I started running with Team in Training (TNT). I was able to raise nearly $3000 last year and had a blast running in San Diego. TNT is fundraising program of The Leukemia &…

Move More, Lose More
http://www.runnersworld.com/weight-loss/a-weight-loss-manifesto?cid=soc_Runner's World - RunnersWorld_FBPAGE_Runner’s World__ Looking back at the past year for me, I lost over 50 pounds with a combination of a better diet and exercise. I'm sure I could have lost the same amount without the exercise but the challenge would…

One Year with MFP and my Withings Scale
It has been over a year since I started getting serious about running (again). After the first couple weeks I realized I had to make some changes to my diet so I started using MFP. Soon after I got my Withings Scale and had it auto sync each week. Here it is one year later and 50 pounds off. I will lose another 10 before…

Sleep
This isn't directly related to running but I started thinking more about it when I started wearing my new Garmin Forerunner. The Forerunner has a feature to track your sleep. Just to try it out one night I decided to wear it to bed. I have been tracking my sleep ever since. Sleep is not something I thought much about…

Laundering Running Gear
How do you wash your clothes? I have had issues with running shirts becoming smellier and smellier over multiple runs/washes. I finally decided to look up what was happening and I discovered I am doing almost everything wrong. I never allow my clothes to completely dry after a run (they just go in the basket until I wash…

Rain & Winter Gear
So it looks like I will be running another HM in 2 weeks (it wasn't planned, I just sorta got 'nominated' at work ;) ). Since I now have 2 weeks before the race I'm going to have to get out tomorrow and run 12... In the rain.. And the cold... I'm not ready for this weather. I stopped by a local running store tonight and…

MFP Owes Me... :-)
I spent 2 hours and over $400 today at Macy's getting new clothes for fall. You see it seems that all my old clothes no longer fit. And MFP is to blame. Original goal achieved this week. Since January I'm down 50+ pounds. My waist went from 38" (and growing) to 33" (and still shrinking). All my XL shirts and…

"Mandatory Info"
I got my RnR San Diego Half Marathon Packet Pickup Confirmation Sheet today. On it I have to fill out the "mandatory info" including how I got to San Diego, how many are with me, what hotel I am staying at, and where I rented my car. I can understand them needing some information, but what the hell does my car rental have…

First HM
Hey Kids, First let me say that I am NOT a runner. I have been running on and off for the past 27 years or so (short 5k races only) and now I am training for a HM at the end of May. So I guess I can officially join the club. :) After a few years of doing almost nothing (fall baseball doesn't really count), I decided to get…
