I just got a really nice compliment. :)
I was chatting with one of my coworkers in the ladies room, like you do, and she said, "By the way you look really good! What are you doing different?" She hadn't seen me in a while (we work on opposite sides of the floor) and she said she only recognized me by my (bright blue) hair. As someone whose weight loss is pretty…

Climbing stairs . . . not sure how to figure out calorie burn.
So, on my lunch break I climb stairs in my office building for exercise. 38 flights at the moment, 20 stairs per flight. The MFP entry for "walking upstairs" is based on time; but this seems inaccurate to me, since the faster you go up a flight, the more calories you burn . . . ? Also, every other flight I go up two steps…

Does anyone else get pet "help" on the scale?
It's like moving towards the scale is the secret signal for my cat to rush over and stand on it too, lol. He always looks very proud of himself.

Should I toss the chili?
I made a big pot of vegetarian chili (beans and sweet potato) and I've been bringing little tupperwares of it to work for lunch. However, on Thursday I accidentally left the chili on my desk without eating it. I had Friday off, plus the weekend, sooo it was sitting there unrefrigerated for three days. It looks and smells…

I hit the 'healthy' BMI zone
I'm 5'6" and I started out at 200 pounds--obese by BMI standards. I was proud when I dropped down to being merely 'overweight', but not as proud as I am today as I finally hit the top of the Normal weight category (154.2 pounds). I have about ten pounds to go before I hit my first goal weight.

Does not compute
So I bought some "by the weight" gummi candy from a local candy store and I eat 1 to 3 candies a day to satisfy my sweet tooth. No packaging / nutrional info provided, but since they're similar to orange slices candies, I figured I'd just look up the calories for those. According to MFP, three Kroger orange slices candies…

Anyone trying to get a pet to lose weight?
I've been trying for sooo long to get my fat cat down a few pounds. He's naturally big to begin with, but he's at 18 pounds when he should be more like 14 or 15 to be at a healthy weight. The most challenging part is that I have another cat, who is a slow eater. So of course the fat cat eats his food, given half a chance.…

Uncontrollable coughing after exercise?
I've started walking up the stairs in my building instead of using the elevator, which for me is intense cardio near the end. Three different days, I've had a coughing fit after I finished lasting at least ten minutes. It felt like I had a tickle in my throat and my body was coughing to get rid of it, even though there…

Advice for an older woman who needs to gain weight?
I'm trying to lose weight, but my mother is in the opposite boat . . . Her doctor keeps telling her to gain weight. She is 75 years old and about 5'4", but unfortunately I don't know how much she weighs. She's very skinny, though. I think this is partly a result of her trying to cook low-calorie meals for my dad (who is a…

Apple shape vs pear shape?
So I've heard about having an apple shaped body vs a pear shaped body, but I've never been able to figure out what it meant. Is it like your weight gravitates to your stomach if you're an apple or to your thighs / butt if you're a pear? I feel like I'm both right now, ha ha! I'd like to figure out which I am, since I've…
