Fitbit Activity adjustments
Hi everyone, I just got a Fitbit and I'm a little surprised by the activity calories I'm being given. I work in a medical office so I spend the day 1/3 sitting, 1/3 standing and 1/3 walking. I get about 4,000 steps with just work. At lunch I try to take a 30 minute walk and some days I take another walk when I get home. I…

Log in the morning, at night or all day?
I'm curious when people log their foods. I'm logging throughout the day and it just struck me that this might contribute to counting calorie burn-out which I've experienced before...Do most people plan what they are eating every day in advance and only log once a day? I am making meals by the seat of my pants and when I'm…

High protein snack ideas
Would love some high protein (~10g) snack ideas around 100-200 calories. I'm getting a little sick of string cheese with fruit and protein bars... I need something quick and simple at work. I'm doing Game-On/Diet fix ~1400 cal/day and so far loving the fact that I get to eat 5 times a day! Good luck everyone and thanks for…

Why are macros important?
If calories are calories, why should I be mindful of macros? I get that protein keeps you feeling full for longer but other than that why should I care about macro ratios? Thanks, I'm new here - 3 weeks in and 9 lbs down!

Scared of success.
Losing weight is such s psychological battle ground. The physics are simple: eat less, and move more. When I think about why I have not reached success, or maintained success when I have had it is FEAR. Fear that I have to be responsible for my life, fear of what my life will be like if I live with nothing to hold me back.…

Hate compliments on your weight loss?
I just started MFP and so far loving it. I'm dreading the comments from my coworkers though when I lose weight. In the past when I have lost weight, I literally hear from 10 people a day how great I look. Does anyone hate hearing this? I get so mad, and feel like I am the same person, why does it matter what I look like? I…

Maintaining muscle
Hi everyone, new to MFP and have a question about maintaining muscle. I am learning to like exercise.....SLOWLY... Lol, I am having some back pain due to picking up my active 2 year old so I'm starting with water aerobics. I keep reading posts that you can't gain muscle when you are in a calorie deficit which makes sense.…

Weight calculation for exercise
Does MFP take into account my weight when I track an exercise? For example, I did water aerobics for 1 hour today and MFP said I had 300 calories burned. If I was not overweight would I have burned much less? And if so, how big of a difference would it be? My current weight is 206 with 147 my goal. Thanks!

All my hobbies involve sitting...
Hi everyone! I am new this week and so far loving these forums. I'm an introvert and so love being able to connect in the comfort of my own introvert world. I've been chubby since about age 12. I have two kiddos 2 and 4 and I've always promised myself that I wouldn't let my kids grow up with a chubby mom - I won't do that…

Can your body adopt a new "set" point?
I recently watched a TED talk about mindfulness eating and weight loss. The speaker said there was research that shows our body has a set point - - a weight that it wants to be. We can increase our set point easily, but lowering that point is super hard. When we lose more than this our bodies ramp up hormones and chemicals…

Recalculating daily calories
hi everyone, when weight loss occurs, will MFP recalculate your calorie goal? I am currently set at 1500 cal a day. On the forums many people say they needed to lower their calorie intake after they lost weight in order to continue losing. When has that happened for people? Just near goal or every 20 lbs or so?

Ideas to overcome cravings
Hi everyone, this is my first week using MFP. I would love to hear about what people do to stop a craving attack! When you feel like having a binge or just throwing in the towel, what do you do to stop that powerful urge? Would love a list of alternative to tape up on my fridge. Happy Friday!
