Hospital Inspired Diet
Had a Crohn's flare and ended up in the hospital - trying to avoid another surgery. Two days fast, one day of water and ice chips - today's clear liquid diet seems like a feast. Cup of chicken broth, 4 oz apple juice and 4 oz jello. I see this as a new beginning. A 1200 calorie a day menu seems less sacrificial now.

New Apples
Apples are ripe in my area. Love those Jonathan's and Honey Crisp. Macintosh should be in the stores soon. On account of modern storage and shipping, stored apples are available year round, but fresh is best.

Onions, tomato and cucumber salad
This seasonal dish is cheap, tasty, filling and low cal. Visiting and there's no artificial sweetener for oatmeal. Used sugar. Only 15 can per tsp. I can live with that and it tastes better. Wonder why I've avoided it so fervently.

Does fat percent in ground beef matter? If the beef is cooked before using in a recipe and the fat is poured off, is the remaining meat the same regardless of how much fat you start with?
