Onederland
Hey guys. Just weighed in this morning and hit 199 pounds. I wanted to say thanks for being a good community here and that reading success stories was a huge help during my waning days. When I wanted to eat or felt like *kitten* I came on here and had energy after reading your inspirational posts. You guys are great. Thank…

41 year old weight lifting
Hey guys. I went from 328 to 205 and am 6'1. I am waiting to get to my final weight of 190 before I hit the gym. I want to just look good again for my wife. I am in between a medium to large frame build. Not large but a bit bigger than medium. I would like to tone up my body. How should I go about doing this at 41 with a…

Calories burned walking...just so I can bury it for myself
I am 6'1 215 pounds. Is it safe to say that PER MILE walked at 3.5 or 4 MPH, I would burn 100 calories PER MILE? I walk 12 miles per day at 3.5 to 4 MPH, actually 3.9 MPH. I am very accurate in the distance and time myself. Would that be 1200 calories? For that rate of speed and distance? I am just tired of hearing how…

How to figure out correct maintenance calories?
How can I figure out what my maintenance calories will be? I am 10 to 15 pounds from goal weight. I am a 6'1 male, medium to medium large frame. Are the calculators on the web accurate enough? Or should I go to a lab and run a gamut of tests to see what they are? I have been eating 1200 to 1400 calories now daily. What is…

Lost 115 pounds..30 left to goal. Woohoo.
I weighed 328 pounds in 2013. Today I weigh 214. My goal is to get to 185. I had type 2 diabetes, hypertension, sleep apnea (and I mean baad sleep apena) vitamin deficiencies, swollen ankles, mushy calves and so much depression. Well I am still going through the depression. I have bi polar, adhd, paranoid schizophrenia and…

Is this ok?
I walked 9 miles today for exercise (831 calories burned). 1300+831. I have a 1300 calorie per day limit. Ate 1794 in food and have 338 calories left. I am 6'1 216 pounds. And I feel full as crap after eating a nice chicken breast with skin and brussel sprout dinner. The thing is, does this sound like a normal day to you?…

The simple things
Tomato (medium size) off the vine from the store, cut up into slices on a plate, a drizzle of olive oil and a pinch of salt and pepper. 22 calories and I am happy. If I have 2 I am ok for hours. So for a total of 44 calories I pushed hunger off for a bit. Who's with me?

114 pounds gone. Trying to get to Onederland. Getting harder.
I went from 328 to 214. And now am finding it a bit harder to keep my cheat days in check. During the week, no problem. I'll eat 1300 to 1500 calories. I drink tons of water and manage it well. But god forbid Friday, Saturday and Sunday roll around. It's like free shrimp buffet time. Fridays I can manage no problem but…

Weight lifting and depression...how?
I have suffered from depression since I was 19. I have tried anti depression medication before and didn't like the way it made me feel. How do you actually lift the weight when having to deal with this? Is it even possible? Please, I'd love to know how you guys/girls do it. Thanks :)

What are my maintenance calories?
I heard (google told me) you should multiply your weight by 14 and then by 17 and take the middle number and that is it. So for me I weigh 220 pounds. I would like to be 185 at goal. So is the formula 14x220 and then 17x220 and then take the middle number of those two totals? How does this work?

What is a healthy weight (BMI) for a 6'1 medium framed guy?
I am 6'1 and though maybe not large framed, definitely medium framed. My BMI currently is 29.8. If I get to my goal weight of 185, my BMI will be 24.4. Is that too near the border of the overweight category? 25 and above is overweight. Should I be aiming for 180 at 6'1? How should I go about this? Thanks! :)

Last 40 pounds. Good cardio exercise to burn for 1 hour?
Hi everyone. I am down to losing my last 40 pounds of weight. What I want to know is what are some good cardio exercises to do in an hour time frame that burn calories similar to walking/jogging? It looks like if I walk 18 minute miles that equates to roughly 88 calories PER MILE burned. If I do 13 minute miles, the…

Weight lifting and high blood pressure/heart disease?
Hi everyone. Hope everybodys Thursday turns out to be a good one. I wanted to start weight lifting. Though there is a history of heart disease in my family and I have high blood pressure. Would it be ok to start a regimen like stronglifts or just general weight lifting? I have been holding off on a membership to anytime…

Cheat days...well two of them in a row
I had two cheat days back to back. Well not really cheat days but on Sunday we climbed Mount Monadnock in NH I was banking 1000 calories before the 2 hour climb up and then 1.5 hour climb down. So I treated myself to a Chinese buffet and man was it good. Then yesterday I needed my Doritos so I bought a large bag and had…

Eating whatever I want but staying within calorie limit?
From reading on here, eating whatever you want but staying under calories, though weight loss is happening, it is not as healthy as it could be. I have decided to really kick the last 44 pounds of my weight loss into the best gains I can make. I have been eating 1400 calories but pigging out. Donuts, Dunkin donuts…

6'1 large frame male ideal weight?
I have seen online calculators that tabulate the ideal weight for a 6'1 male as 168 - 192. I always thought well let me set my goal at 180 right in the middle. But now that I think about it, maybe that's to thin for a large frame 6'1 guy. More like 190 but that Would put me 2 pounds below overweight. I'd like to have some…

Any downsides to having a fast metabolism?
Back when I was 19 I had a thyroid test done and the nurse told me that I had a highly sensitive thyroid. I could always eat when I was younger and never gain any weight. After going on haldol and zyprexa for 21 years, it kinda slowed that process. Now I am on much better meds that do not affect weight. I have been losing…

If I exercise at 7 or 8pm at night, does the calories get added to that day or tomorrow?
I wanted to know if I go jogging at 7 or 8pm at night, do the calories that get added go to that nights total or should I just count them in for the next day? I do not eat back exercise calories but wanted to know if I do feel like snacking, when it would be appropriate. Thanks!

40 year old weight training and cardio
Hi everyone. So I am at 256.8 without clothes. 6'1 male. I have lost almost 70 pounds. My blood pressure used to be 140 over 91 and it's now 117 over 78! I am taking 50mg of atenolol with 1200mg of fish oil 1xday. I am so happy with the blood pressure drop that I was thinking of starting the 5x5 stronglifts program. Do you…

1500 calories a day...ok to save most for dinner?
My weakest time of day is when I am with my wife on the couch playing xbox at night after work. I love to snack. So what I have been doing with my 1500 calories is eating a light breakfast and lunch and then I typically have 900-1000 calories for the night time. Is this ok? I don't want to fill my body with food at 6pm and…

After the initial 2 to 3 month weight loss, how to keep it coming off?
I have been walking 4 mph for 1 hour 5 days a week. I am eating the calories that MFP gives me and also eat back my exercise calories. The weight has been coming off at a good rate but I have a few questions. Should I eat back 100% of my exercise calories? Or maybe eat back 50% of them? I would like to not eat my calories…

Are the calories burned that MFP reports accurate?
It is telling me that I've burned a little over 700 calories for 85 minutes of leisurely walking. That seems way too high. Is MFP accurate when reporting calories burned for a certain exercise? Thanks!

Calories, too little for my height and weight?
Is eating 1500 calories a day too little for a 6'1 282 pound guy? Right now the weight is coming off at a decent pace and I know it will get tougher in the months ahead. I just want to make sure at 1500 I am not wrecking havoc with my metabolism. I am even thinking of shaving that 1500 down to 1400 or even 1300. It seems…

40 years old 6'1 288 pounds. Cardio to a point then weight lift? Help!
Hi everyone. I would like to get back to my ideal weight of 180 pounds. I am currently 40 years old at 6'1 and 288. I've been dieting for a short time now and have went from 296 to 288 in about a little over a week. I know at first the weight will drop off fast but I am trying to set up for the long haul when it's not so…
