Lifting. Where do I begin?
I started on MFP in February at 269 lbs. Just this morning I had my first weigh-in under 200! I was 198.4! So far I have only really done cardio. I wanted to focus on losing fat. Now that I am getting closer to my goal I know that I need to start some sort of strength training. I have never been on any sort of lifting…

How to set my activity level?
I walk quite a bit. I have my goal for 12,000 steps per day and I almost always exceed that. Most of that is on a treadmill though or going outside for a walk. So it is "exercise" meaning MFP gives me extra calories for that (I have my Fitbit synced). If I don't count my exercise then I would probably have 4,000-6,000…

I'm a success!
I don't have a lot of great "before" pictures. I didn't do the mirror selfie thing but here I am And here I am now My first day on MFP was February 20th 2016. 9 months later I am 67 pounds lighter and I feel great! At 202 now I am right on the verge of going under 200 for the first time since high school! I have recently…

Need more friends
I have been on MFP since February and have had great success (56lbs down!). I'd like to have more friends to share this journey with so please feel free to add me. Anyone is welcome but I especially like those with open diaries so I can get ideas.

Do you ever skip meals?
So I went out to breakfast this morning and ate more than I should have. Now, it is almost I dinner time and I am only about 150 calories short of my goal. I feel like I could easily skip dinner and feel just fine and stay within my calorie allotment but part of me thinks I should sit down with the wife and kids and have…

How accurate is Fitbit calories burned?
My wife got me a Charge HR about 2 months ago. It has been great! I set my daily step goal for 12,000 and I've only missed it a couple of times. Definitely keeps me motivated! My question is how accurate is it at keeping track of calories burned? I have read on here many times not to trust MFP or your exercise machines for…

Trying to understand how deficits work
So I have been using MFP for about 2 months. I started at 269lbs and am down to 243lbs which is great. When I started I just used the goal that MFP gave me (I think it was 2220). The last couple of weeks the weight hasn't been coming off like it did in the beginning so I just adjusted my goal down to 2000. Is this ok?…

New to the forum
I have been using MFP for about 2 months to track my calories but just now discovered the forums. Here is my story: I've been overweight all of my life. About 8 years ago I went from 280 lbs down to about 235 in 3 months on Atkins. Once I stopped Atkins it slowly came back. I never quite got back to 280 but 2 months ago I…
