  • I know what you mean. There is so much information out there! Eat less fat, eat less carbs, eat more protein, eat less sugar, eat all natural etc. I recently overheard my boss, someone I truly respect and who knows a lot about a lot of things tell another co-worker “if you want to lose weight don’t eat anything after 6…
  • I don’t find them very satisfying. I have tried most of the premier protein flavors and can’t get myself to like them. They also don’t keep me full. Protein BARS on the other hand! I usually have at least one of those per day. They taste better, keep me full longer and I get the satisfaction of chewing my calories. Most go…
  • I was having the same problem. I tried disconnecting and reconnecting on the MFP app and had no success. I went on my computer to the MFP website and disconnected there and then reconnected and now it is working! Hope this helps
  • I'll probably eat the same way I have been. I haven't cut anything out of my diet anyways I just eat less now than I used to. Quite honestly I couldn't eat like I could before even if I tried. The difference will be in the drinks. I am looking forward to a few hot buttered rums and some mulled wine that will put me well…
  • 1 lb per week is amazing! Just stick to it and before you know it you will have reached your goal! No reason to change anything, you're doing awesome!
  • Well done! You look great!
  • I heard good things about qwest bars so I ordered a variety box and I honestly didn't care for any of them. Kirkland signature makes ones that I do like. They are on par with qwest nutrition wise but better IMO and much cheaper. $17.99 for a box of 20. The only thing that sucks is there are only 2 flavors, I'd like more…
  • It took me awhile to get used to the fact that I could shop for smaller clothes. I remember the moment actually: I was at Costco and there was an awesome Seahawks hoodie that I liked. I hadn't bought any clothes in awhile because I was on the fence about what size to buy. I hoped that I could wear an XL but I guess part of…
  • It's just an arbitrary number really but I am only 2 lbs away from being under 200 lbs for the first time since High School! When I started this journey I thought to myself it would be amazing just to get that far! Now, I am almost there and I realize that I need to continue to lose. My ultimate goal is now 180 but 200 is…
  • Certainly. MFP set my calorie goal at 2240 per day. I lowered it to 2000 because I am not super accurate with weighing and everything. I guess a lot but I try to be reasonable. Even still I wanted to build in a little buffer to make sure I was staying under. I bought myself some lunch sized plates that I now use for dinner…
  • Thanks guys. The battle is not over yet. Still have 22 lbs to lose and then it is all about maintaining which we know can be difficult as well. I have learned so much about my body in my 9 months here though! I know I can keep this weight off for good!
  • You look amazing!
  • For breakfast almost everyday I make a sandwich with an English muffin, guacamole, American cheese and an egg. Delicious, filling and only around 350 calories. For lunch and dinner I gotta mix it up!
  • I can't wait to have this problem!
  • I have to have my coffee. I drink 2 big mugs of it in the morning and another early in the evening. I drink it black so 0 calories but you can have it however you like as long as you stay within your goals. I have lost 51lbs so far and going strong!
  • You absolutely don't need access to a gym. You don't even need to exercise to lose weight, though it can help. There are plenty of things you can do at home without going to the gym. Mainly, just get out and walk, you will feel great. You CAN do it!

  • Lots of great advice here. I'd like to chime in with something that helped me: Portions have always been my problem. Before coming to MFP I thought I ate well because I generally chose foods that I thought were healthy, the problem is I was just eating way too much of them! A couple of months ago I purchased some "lunch…
  • Same as it had been for the last 25 years or so... PEARL JAM
  • It's just all about portion control. Order what you want but most restaurants serve very large portions. I like to ask for a box to be brought out with my food that way I can put half of it in there to take home before I even dive in. Make sure you log everything! Even if it puts you over your goal, log it. When confused…
  • Kinda what I thought as well. Would be really awesome if they could get it to work accurately though!
  • Patience grasshopper
  • I really dig the Kirkland Signature protein bars. They are a lot like quest bars but much much less expensive. You can get them at Costco. I don't drink protein shakes anymore but I did when I was just starting out and I liked premier protein. Pretty filling, high protein-low sugar and tasted better than most IMO
  • I wouldn't say you NEED a scale though they are helpful. Some people aren't into weighing everything and that is cool too. If I were you I would either 1) get a scale and weigh everything or 2) keep the method you've been using but lower you calorie goal to 1600 per day. That way you have a little buffer so if you log 1600…
  • How accurate is your logging? Is it possible that you haven't been as accurate lately since you've lost the weight? Those 5-7lb fluctuations are mostly water weight.
  • Amylu sugarhouse maple chicken sausage. I buy them at Costco and 3 links is just 110 calories! They are fantastic!
  • Sure they work if you use them in place of a meal. Of course you could also just have a small meal. All about portions!

  • You are absolutely right. I will sit down with the family and have some fresh sugar snap peas from our garden and a little bit of fruit. Not my typical idea of dinner but perfectly reasonable since I went over earlier in the day. Thanks for the replies!
  • 147,000 in 4 and a half months!
