Effects of coffee on weight loss
Okay guys, so with the changing season I've really started drinking a lot of coffee. And I'm wondering what kind of studies ya'll have read about the effects of this. I mean aside from the obvious...it's bad if you put lots of cream and sugar in it, but I use minimal amounts of heavy cream and truvia, so I'm not concerned…

changing goals?
I just realized that my "goal" numbers on mfp change everyday. Today I'm supposed to have 56 grams of fat, but yesterday it was 96, and the day before it was 75...same thing with carbs, too. Calories stay the same, as does everything else. But those two change all the time. Why?

NSV -- PANTS
Hello friends! I wanted to post a little happy. When I started dieting, I was wearing size 44 pants pretty comfortably. Not too tight, just right. After a couple months, I was glad I still had some 42's sitting around, and had to start wearing those. After that, I went into my closet, where I had kept all my old clothes…

food weights
So a lot of foods are measured in ounces. I got a food scale to clarify this matter, but now I'm more confused than ever. Everything I've read about chicken tells me a serving of chicken breast like 3-4 ounces. That seems to be the weight attributed to most breasts, which is something in the neighborhood of 230 calories. I…

Calories without fat, carbs, and sodium
I've been regularly coming in under my calorie budget for the day -- sometimes by a pretty large margin. The problem I'm having is that while I keep calories low, my carbs and sodium, and sometimes my fat (though less often) will be quite high. Yesterday I was 338 calories under budget, but over in carbs and sodium but a…

Kinect Workout games
Hate gym, wanna exercise at home. I have a Kinect, and I figure there must be some decent exercise games for it. Suggestions?

Exercise -- why, again?
Okay, so. I have been doing MFP for 30 days now, and dieting for about 8 months. Ive broken 45 pounds as of this morning (I hit 45 pounds a couple days ago, but now I'm at a staggering 45.2). As one would logically expect, I've done this through diet and exercise? Well, diet, anyway... See, I went to the gym for a couple…

Cracked article
Here's an article I read earlier about food on Cracked.com. Very eye opening...had no idea how much wood people eat! http://www.cracked.com/article_19433_the-6-most-horrifying-lies-food-industry-feeding-you.html

Sugar & carbs
How is sugar different from regular carbs? I gather it's worse, but how?

My new old outfit
Just wanted to share a minor success story. When I was gaining weight, I kept all my clothes...I refused to give them away or throw them out because I knew I was going to find the motivation to lose that weight eventually. I kept them all there as a way to remind myself that I was going to be putting them back on some day.…

Fat & Carbs: Goals or Limits?
Forgive me for any newbie questions I may be posting here. I've been doing the diet thing only for the last 8 months, and mostly just figuring it out as I go along. I have really liked using MFP, but I want to be sure I'm using it right! My questions is regarding the numbers in my "Nutrients" tab. For fat, my "Goal" is…

Sodium and weight gain
Does sodium cause weight gain? I've noticed when I go way over in my sodium allowance for the day, weight ticks up a bit. And if it does, can this be counteracted with large quantities or water, cranberry juice, etc.?
