Squats question
Hi, all-- I'm trying to incorporate more weight training into my workouts and have started doing squats, sometimes with weights. I've noticed that when I dip low (as I think you are supposed to, right?) my knees make a faint crunching sound. Nothing painful or even uncomfortable--there's just a crunch in both knees. Might…

Moderate exercise is best
...says a new study. Of course, as a 15-20-miler-per-week runner, I am delighted. :) http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/06/06/moderation-as-the-sweet-spot-for-exercise/?hp

Why don't I like wine anymore?
So I used to drink one (just one!) glass of wine most nights. I looked forward to it, I enjoyed it. Then, about 2 months ago, I got a sinus infection. I was simultaneously training for my first 10k, but I've been a very casual runner for years. Anyway, I stopped drinking while I was sick. When I finally got better, I was…

NSV: Blister on my toe
...from running my first-ever 10k! And my first race, actually. It was a hot day, and I'm accustomed to running really early in the morning, but I ran the whole time and finished in 60:57. That's a 9:50 pace. I was on a high all day long afterward. And now I can't wait to do the next one.

Running/losing weight question
So, I am training for my first race, a 10k, at the end of May. I have also been sort of half-heartedly trying to lose a few pounds for vanity's sake (and for the sake of a swimsuit). My main thing right now, though, is that I want to do decently in the 10k. So my question is, is it worth it to focus more on losing 5 or 10…

Cute shoes for BIG feet
Just got a pair of very cute, very comfortable J Crew ballet flats in the mail...in size 12! I love them. J Crew carries almost all their shoes up to a 12. Now if only I could afford to buy more of them.

10k question
So this is kind of a weird worry to have, but here goes: I am a regular runner. I usually run 3 miles 3-4 times a week and one longer run (4-5 miles) once a week. I've never been super-fast, but I'm not just shuffling along, either. I just signed up for my first-ever race, a 10k, in May. When I'm running, being passed…

Motivating twin for 5'10 me?
Hi, all-- I am newish here and would love to find someone--or several people--who would like to match up and motivate each other. I was thinking tall would be good, since we would have a similar frame of reference, but I'm open. I think that if I had to report my progress to some real human(s), I might do better. Anyone?
