Something I wish I'd known re: Polar FT7
I purchased a Polar HRM last week and finally got it set up and went to the gym, all ready to see how the numbers compared to what I have been using (the equipment numbers where I put in my weight and age). Well, got on the treadmill only to see my heart rate pop up on the display of the treadmill I was on AND the one next…

Where did my motivation go?!
Ugh. I went on vacation, completely fell off the wagon (no logging, eating whatever, not working out) and gained about 5 pounds. No biggie, right? Except that I've been back and logging for weeks now and my weight just won't budge. It's getting me a little depressed. I'm trying, and you'd think by now I'd be down a…

Success logging while on vacation?
For those of you who have done an extended vacation and logged while away, how did things work out? I'm a bit anxious about our trip which starts next month. It's a driving vacation, so I'll have the ability to bring food and keep it reasonable to some extent, but there will also probably be one meal out each day for a…

Hit the half way mark today
I started the last day of January, so about 3-1/2 months and 28 pounds ago. Not sure if the image will be too big or small (or if it'll even show up!), but thought I'd at least try to post. I always enjoy looking at everyones progress pics, so here is my small contribution! ETA: Holy ****, it actually worked!!

Someone should let Weird Al know...
Instead of 30,000 pounds of bananas it could be 36,000 pounds of Chobani. http://www.wbng.com/news/local/Tractor-Trailer-Crashes-Along-I-88-151484495.html

80 day slump?
Seriously, I don't know what is wrong with me, but I'm getting a little down this past week or so with this new lifestyle. I've been trying to be reasonably good with my food choices (I really need to add more veggies, but I'm not pigging out on junk 24/7 which was my MO before MFP!) and I've stayed really close to my…

Where have you been all my life?!
My heart is all aflutter...a place with Geeks, Tardis references, Big Bang Theory words and LOTR. Precious. (if you say it right, you'll know what I mean).

Eating BMR versus MFP recommendation?
My BMR is evidently 1438 (just used one of the tools on the site to run that) but MFP has me set at 1300 calories for one pound a week loss. I've seen lots of people saying to eat at least your BMR, but how big a deal is it if they aren't different by more than 10%? FWIW, before anyone yells, I'm trying to NET my 1300…

Appropriate apparel?
Okay, the thread about what people would ban brought up something I guess I should ask. Some people were complaining about spandex and people wearing tights/leggings as pants, and I think I'm an offender. I need some feedback here, please. I bought some Under Armor running leggings (calf-length) and have been wearing them…

Polar HRM question
I went shopping for a heart rate monitor today after doing some reading here and on other sites. I was going to purchase the FT7, but I ended up having a question about it. I did buy one, but it shows it is the FT7M, which I think means men's version. I would love a smaller watch face on it, and tried to find the women's…

Cardio or fat burn?
So what should I be aiming for? Yes, I need to lose 50 pounds or so, but I also need to get fit - I don't want to be out of breath climbing a flight of stairs! So should I be trying to do some of each and just switching off here and there? I am asking because the two settings on the elliptical I've been using feel…

Help getting started?
I am looking for suggestions on how to get started with exercise. I joined the local YMCA recently (two weeks ago) and have been trying to go to get my big tail movin' as much as my work schedule allow, but I'm not sure if what I am doing is right/appropriate. I figure anything is better than nothing, but rather than go…

Need to lose 50+ - would love some support!
While my hubby is supportive, he has never struggled with his weight like I have. I am 5'3", 44 years old and weighed in at a whopping 195 pounds last week, my highest ever. I am trying to be faithful about going to the gym to do some pseudo-cardio (so-called because if you saw my speed...well, you'd understand) and trying…
