Top athletes carrying a bit extra
*******Disclaimer******* Please understand that I am not being critical of these people.. I am just asking a question It always amazes me when top athletes at the very height of their career carry a little bit extra timber. With all of the nutritionists and fitness coaches etc, who follow these people about, not to mention…

30 day MFP proof of concept.. an experiment!
I have now been on MFP for 70 days and was trying to think of a way to mark my 100th day. I have spent most of that time tweaking with my limits, messing about with my goals and now have a pretty good understanding of what works for me. So now its time to step it up. Setting an unrealistic goal that I would be unlikely to…

Iphone Apps apart from MFP
Does anybody use any? I am currently using Crunch-fu, and pressup-fu. Are there any other good ones?

whats going on.. seriously confused!
ok bit of history first. Christmas 2010 I was at my heaviest at just over 200lbs. (14 stone 4). Roll forward 10 months and I had lost 2 stone in the worst way.. eating considerably under my BMR and doing lots of cardio but no weight training. My waist dropped from a 38" in jeans to 34" but I was mostly skinny fat. At that…

Feeling a bit virtuous...
I'm on day two of my MFP proof of concept See here ---> http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/559638-30-day-mfp-proof-of-concept-an-experiment and today decided to trial a run as a baseline so that I can try it again in 30 days. I did a lot better than I thought I would in that I ran my longest ever distance on the road,…

Photo that kicked off my weightloss.. not even me!!
Ok so lose the gun and this is the photo that caused me to lose weight. I am a regular traveller and hate hate hate the fact that my clothes no longer provide the secrecy that I want. This picture isnt me.. and yet it is me.

Accuracy when adding calories.. A point to consider!
I might be wrong and so stand to be corrected! I was logging my calories burned by using a heart rate monitor and manually entering them into MFP. So let's say I have myself down as semi active and then burn 700 calories in an hour doing a workout., I would enter, and then eat back the 700 calories. I then bought a fitbit…

Baaaaad MFP.. iphone app!!
When you click "complete this entry' on the iphone app, it suggests that your target weight would be achievable in a given period of time based on how many calories you were under your daily amount. The bigger the deficit the shorter the time. surely this is contrary to best advice of fuelling your body with the right…

60 day report. Minor physical change but a MASSIVE mental on
I wonder how many of you reading this will see yourselves reflected in what I have written here. I started using MFP just over 2 months ago because I saw my daughter (emrose1990) using it and it just seemed like something interesting. I don’t have a huge amount of weight to lose but have struggled to maintain a healthy…

Fitbit users... which site do you use most?
I use MFP for logging my food and Fitbit.com for tracking my exercise. The two sites talk to each other but dont actually seem to give the same results. For example, the historical data over a month or so on Fitbit.com says that my average burn is 3,056, and my average intake is 2466. A deficit of 500 or so. MFP says my…

WTH.. is that tiny little puddle of cereal really 30g??
Is anybody else desperately guilty of getting their estimations wrong? I did the same last night with a baked potato! 400g instead of 200g! In all honesty I am not that bothered about eating less, just about making sure that I know I am eating more. That way at least I can up my exercise to do something about it! If…

The benefits of not kidding yourself!!
Hi all, My name is Ian and I am overweight. (Phew.. isn't that what you are supposed to say at the start of these things.) Admitting you have a problem yadda yadda!! Its true though.. I have kidded myself for the past few years that the inches creeping onto my waist and the increasing numbers on the scale were a function…
