I'm on day two of my MFP proof of concept See here ---> http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/559638-30-day-mfp-proof-of-concept-an-experiment and today decided to trial a run as a baseline so that I can try it again in 30 days.

I did a lot better than I thought I would in that I ran my longest ever distance on the road, in a far better time than I thought I would. No point in doing a trial if its not going to prove anything!

The thing that kept me pushing on a lot harder than I otherwise would have was being able to post this picture on here and say to anybody needing inspiration that if a short, overweight, middle aged man with dodgy knees and very little preparation can do it.. in the kind of weather that we are having today... then anybody can!

Now log off MFP, get your gym shoes on and go for it!!

Now where did I put the band aid!?!

    Nicely done!

For those, like me, who have to see it in km:

    5:53 min/km
    9.8 km

I would be very happy to get up to that speed. I am working at 6:30 min/km right now. You do have some height/stride length over me, though. I started running last year in May - so almost a year now - and my speed on those first runs was about 11 min/km. At least I know I'm improving!

Don't know what your weather was like today. We had ice, rain, snow, and slush. Very sloppy and cold on the tootsies!

    Thanks :)

    Dammit.. just short of 10k!!!!!!!

just a heavy rain storm... in fairness, Im not a martyr, it was ok when I set out but the heavens opened when i was about 2 miles in.

I dont normally run but do play tennis so I guess my stamina is ok.

In all honesty the motivation comes from the great people on here who inspire and push you on to bigger and better things.
