What are you working on now?
Found a nice pattern in a British knitting book. It is a poncho with 3 cables up the center front and back and a large cowl neck. I needed something new to do to keep my hands busy and away from the food. Not sure how to post pictures on here.

new here and have come full circle
Exactly a year ago I went for a consultation for lap band surgery. At that time I weighed 272 lbs. I loved the idea but decided I couldnt afford it. I didnt get serious again about my weight loss until March when I decided to join and gym and hire a personal trainer. It is working out ok (have lost 20 lbs since November)…

diet for pear shaped women
I have heard a lot lately about the differences between the apple shaped woman and the pear shaped woman. I happen to be a pear shape. Am I right in assuming I should be eating a high protein , low fat diet? All the info out there now is so confusing., Any insight will be welcomed!

walking poles
Not sure if that is what they are really called. They look like ski poles and I see lots of men and women using them around here. Has anyone had any experience with them and are they a good tool for exercising and losing weight?

!!!NSV!!!
I am so happy this morning! I just tried on a pair of 18 (plus size) jeans that have been in my closet for a very long time and they fit! They are a little snug in the tummy area but omg they fit!! When I started this journey I was a size 24. My weight has been coming off very slowly but I have been working out with my…

Finished my first 5km!
I ended up walking the whole route but I did finish!! I was the last one in listening to the cheers of all the others that finished ahead of me. What a supportive group they were! Every one of them encouraging me along the last km. I am going to seriously start training this week for the next one in July. I want to be able…

NSV!!!
An amazing NSV for me this morning! I looked out my window at 5am and realized one of my horses was missing so I went out to investigate. I found her about 10 acres away from the house just outside the back paddock. I didnt even think twice about going after her! Three months ago I couldnt get off the couch without help -…

Hi there! I found the link to this group when reading a thread on hypothyroidism. I have an underactive thyroid and am having a hard time losing weight. Looks like I am in the right place for motivation and support :)

another NSV for me!
Actually 2 NSVs. They are small but very significant for me! My husband and I went to buy dog food last night. We got to the isle and I saw the brand we get so I grabbed a 40 lb bag from the shelf and as I was putting it in the cart (with no effort whatsoever) I looked up and saw my husband staring at me with his mouth…

Huge NSV for me!
The beginning of March I could barely get off the couch without help. My knees and back ached as well as my ankles. Had no strength whatsoever. This morning I went for a fairly fast ( 3.5 pace) 5km mostly uphill walk with my husband and enjoyed every minute of it!! We live in the country and the scenery is amazing! We…

question about muscle and fat
I am really confused about something. I hear people saying muscle weighs more than fat. How can that be - isnt a pound of fat the same weight as a pound of muscle? Or is it that muscle takes up more space than fat? Help!

NSV During my walk/run tonight
My running group meets on Tuesday evenings to run a 400 meter track. I walk the curves and run the straight which works out to running about 100 meters on each side of the track. Last week I could barely run at all. Tonight I ran both sides (100 meters each!!) I weigh 257 lbs and running at this weight is really,…

changed my goal
I changed my weight loss goal to 1 lb per week. I had it at 2 lbs per week and have not lost any weight in the past few weeks. So my daily calories went up from 1270 to 1936. I was feeling hungry a lot of the time so perhaps I really wasnt getting enough food.

New here !
Hi everyone. I joined MFP last week. I am ready to start the C25K program. The ice and snow are off my roads now. I live in the country and it took a while for it to go. I have decided to run outside because my sister and I signed up for 4 5k runs this summer. Even if I part walk them I will be happy to finish! I have…

New here with almost 100 lbs to lose
Hi everyone, I just joined and so I am introducing myself. I am a 60 (soon to be 61) year old female. I decided this is the year to get healthy so I joined the gym and hired a personal trainer a month ago. So far things are going well. I have only lost about 3 lbs but the good news is I am down a size :) Looking forward to…
