5k NSV
Just wanted to share today's victory. I see a lot of threads about running, many of which express frustration at getting started or building speed. Neither of those are easy things to accomplish. In the last 18 months I have faced numerous challenges in getting started, overcoming injury and trying to improve. When I…

fat smoker to triathlete
Fifteen months after I started this journey I have decided to share my success story. Two things have prompted me to take the time to share: I'm proud of how far I've come and I remember reading some success stories early on that inspired me to keep going. It has been a long tough road but has also been very rewarding and…

Need to add some tri friends.
I started my healthy living journey about one year ago when I quit smoking and started to exercise. I couldn't run at first so I did a lot of biking. When I was finally able to start running I kept up with biking too because I enjoyed it so much. It was during last summer that I thought "hey, wouldn't it be fun to do a…

NSV going the distance from MIWI to NOLA
I started my life changing journey in April; inspired by my wife who had quit smoking several months earlier. I set a date to quit smoking after doing it for 25 years, dreading the prospect of gaining weight as a result and possibly ending up at 300 lbs as I was already close to 270. So, two weeks before I quit smoking I…

I am 41, quit smoking 4 months…

My NSV, I am the fit guy :D
I shared this with my "friends" but the more I think about it the more I smile so I decided to share with everyone. Yesterday, someone who I had never met before and didn't know I had lost all this weight referred to me as "the fit guy". Nicest thing someone has said to me in a while. There were three of us that had met…

NSV at the doctor's office.
So I injured my knee this week while doing C25K which sucks and is a momentary setback. But for the first time that I can remember, I got to answer no to the "Do you smoke?" question. I also posted very good blood pressure levels for the first time in a long time. My BP had been running high pretty regularly in the past.

Changing my lifestyle
Been lurking here for about a month now and using MFP to count my calories and log exercise. I am 41, was about 70-80 lbs over weight, smoker, couch potato and I decided I didn't want to die before I hit 50. I guess there is no gauranty that I won't but I was headed there if I didn't change my life. So, about a month ago I…
